We were seated right away and they had no problem with us deciding to change tables and eat in the outdoor dining area. The food was excellent.
We sat outside in a two seater. Good clean area, good service, and good menu options, and food was tasty.
Such a gem! Great food and drinks with outdoor seating on wacker in the loop! Really great.
food and service was excellent. Entrance door work over lunch seemed odd
Great with outdoor seating and pleasant staff. Would definitely go there again.
We went for dinner and it’s clear that this predominantly a business lunch restaurant. They provided the best service possible with small staff. Pleasant outdoor seating.
Food was meh. Chicken in chicken sandwich was hard. None of the part of 3 was happy with the meal. Pre-COVID this was a good restaurant IMO; what happened. Service friendly.
Sat outside on a nice weekday evening, service was prompt and attentive, drinks and food were very good, everyone enjoyed the choice. If you like Manhattan's suggest trying their Dibs on the Barrel. Only negative was the early closing at 7 pm, we arrived late to our reservation, closer to the closing time, and to their credit we weren't rushed out, but the employees were closing down around us as we were finishing. Even just an hour later closing time would help, but I'm guessing it is driven by the current Covid environment. I would definitely recommend, and return, if looking for good food and drinks in this area of downtown, just suggest getting there before 6.
It was a great place, there chicken wrap was amazing and the waitress was so nice
Efficient, personable staff, from entry to completion. Food (salads) was good, ingredients fresh, water/tea frequently refilled. Overall solid experience.
Food was incredible, and our waitress was the nicest woman ever.
Almost everything about this place is exactly what I was looking for! On the downside, it took a very long time to get water and for our waiter to come over and greet us despite it not being that busy.
Great to be back having lunch with clients. Food was very good and atmosphere was nice.
Excellent service, right off the bat - water, drink order, and food came quickly (important for a business lunch). Townhouse Burger cooked to perfection (med-rare) paired with sweet potato fries and additional side of the brussels sprouts. Location ideal for South Wacker drive office buildings. In and out in about 60min flat! Price points are reasonable and portions are generous.
The food and gelato were so good and the servers were so nice! Definitely recommend.
Get a view of tall buildings, good food, low price, wasn’t busy, fast service, will be back.
We had very well made cocktails. The carnitas tacos and crab cake BLT were both very good and an excellent value.
Great lunch spot. Nice outdoor seating. And food was very good.
Food was pretty good and at a pretty fair price! Great for a very quick meal with friends and family!
Enjoyed our lunch. Nice ambiance. Food was good. Service was outstanding.
I have eaten at Townhouse for lunch many times. It generally can be a little on the loud side but for some reason on this occasion it was almost impossible to have a conversation over lunch due to how noisy it was. My waiter also disappeared for long stretches of time and I had to wait 10 minutes to spot him to get my check. That's not really acceptable for a place that does downtown business lunches. My food, however, was good.
WONDERFUL SPOT FOR LUNCH ... but far to noisy to carry on a conversation.
Convenient to opera, so will likely be back ... but won't plan to talk much! (lol)
Great spot for lunch and happy hour!
Unbearably loud. Couldn’t wait to leave.
Good food! Awesome service. However the noise is very loud in the restaurant.
It was exactly what we needed.
I asked if the tacos were tiny or regular size and she said regular size. I was disappointed to find out they were tiny. I could barely fit the toppings in each one. It was basically $4 per taco, each one gone in 3 bites. Very overpriced.
We came here before the opera. It was good for a burger or sandwich before the performance. Food came quick and we made the show on time. It is a very lively atmosphere and isn't great for an intimate setting.
We ate here before the opera and I have to say, we were quite unimpressed. The food was just ok. Flavorless and overpriced for the quality. The acoustics in the restaurant are not good if you want to have a conversation with the people at your table. The design of the place is very pretty though. The service was fantastic. Our waiter was very polite and our food came quickly. My cocktail was delicious.
While we are happy to hear that you enjoyed the ambiance and your waiter, we are sorry to hear that you did not enjoy the food. We will be sure to pass these comments along to our staff to help address any issues that may be present. We thank you for leaving this review and we will see you again soon!
It would have been very good but for the fact that--despite having reserved a table over a week before--we were sat at a table literally one foot from the front door on a cold February day. We asked to be moved but weren't accommodated, so freezing during my meal despite keeping my winter coat on throughout spoiled the experience.
Disappointing. When you enter you are immediately hit with the noise of patrons talking. I mean this place is loud. My salad (Greek) was mediocre at best and my guests sandwich was delivered with moldy bread. Management was apologetic and quickly replaced the sandwich. When the check came she was offered a coupon for a free drink or appetizer. Strongly doubt she will go back to use it.
Amazing food and vibe. Best place to eat in Chicago
We always enjoy Townhouse and often go before the opera. This time they were slammed. But between the host and the waiter, they did an impressive job of getting out on time.
The restaurant was freezing, it took the server 15 minutes to come to our table once we were seated. The food was ok, but felt like it was overpriced. Will not be coming back
The windows in this place are so cool but it makes the restaurant freezing cold in the winter. We were seated right next to the window and I was shivering the whole time. The server was nice and the food was good though! I would recommend going in the summer for an intimate, somewhat formal occasion.
Restaurant was freezing. We wore our coats the entire dinner. Food was also cold.
Service - From the host to the wait staff, they were warm and receptive. Even when the wait staff were busy, they took time to take photos of my date and me. (It was Valentine's Day.)
Ambiance - a very modern look that exhilarates energy.
Food - is above average for bar food.
Not so positive:
Value - A bit pricey. We had two drinks, split a meal and a salad and the bill was $90 with tip.
Noise Level - The ambiance exhilarates energy but but the acoustics are terrible.
Overall - It would have been 5 stars if the noise level can be dampened with ceiling panels to absorb the echo from conversations.
Great service of mediocre food in a loud cold room.
I would not recommend anyone eat there in winter. It was freezing! We are in our winter coats.
Food was good but it was SO loud we had to shout to talk. Sad because it is a great location for dinner before the opera now that Lloyd’s has closed. Would definitely go again if it wasn’t so loud.
