This was an outstanding dining experience. Great food with interesting combinations [especially the lobster popovers and fried rice], and the service is wonderful with knowledgeable and attentive servers. The second floor dining room is great atmosphere and much quieter than the first floor near the bar.
Menu is a little quirky but our party of 3 enjoyed everything. My daughter is lactose intolerant and they were extremely accommodating.
The food and service were excellent. A really varied menu with international choices. The lobster popovers were a real treat. Great desserts. Look forward to eating there again on next trip to Boston.
a very nice brunch place
Lots of large tables of 20-somethings. Very corporate. Sort of like a high-end Hard Rock Cafe.
Experience was too quick. Our dinner lasted about 30- 45 minutes. Most cases I would be happy, but not when I'm spending around $150.
Greetings - pleasant; waiter - excellent; food - very good; insect in both first drink and replacement - offputting.
The creme fraiche sorbet outstanding; excellent selection; the best alfredo ever! a must!
We went with friends, so it was a nice time overall
Our waiter was great - helpful, friendly - knew when to be there and when to be away.
I thought the food was marginal.
It had been on my "list" for a long time - so I'm glad I checked it out!
We went on Labor Day weekend so it was not busy and got a great table. Our waiter, Jeff, was fantastic. He was personable, attentive and informative. I got the duck and it was really lovely, had so much flavor. The hot strawberry shortcake it to die for. Then we went to the bar and even the bartender was fantastic. Overall, it was a great experience and would definitely go back.
Our server mixed up our order and didn't have one of the dishes when the other three were ready. Both the server and the Manager apologized profusely, gave the diner with the missing meal a salad to tide him over while the rest of us started, took his meal off of the bill, and gave him a coupon he could use for his lunch. Can't ask for much more than that.
Enjoyed a wonderful, late-night dinner at Towne in the upper-level dining room. Very gracious and attentive service.
I felt like this was another overpriced meal from Llydia Shire/jasper White. You're paying for the downtown address. The lobster popovers were good, but the meal was just eh.and pricey!
Excellent food and service. Aaron was superb and made our birthday lunch very special.
Disappointed that they didn't have the lobster popovers for lunch!
Fish and chips lunch special was great.
Our waiter was wonderful!
My friend and I shared a "small" fired clam appetizer. It was easily as much as most restaurant serve as an entree portion. They were fabulous.
The choice for entrées was too hard, so we shared swordfish with a tapenade and grilled duck. Hard to say which was better. Generous portions; an attentive, experienced waiter; and dining on the terrace was an unexpected extra. All and all, an excellent dining experience.
Had great meals - generous portions, well presented, and delicious. The service was perfect for us, we don't like to be hovered over.....let's say it was discreetly attentive. Good wine by the glass choices. Overall very pricey, but it is a high rent location. We plan on returning.
The food was wonderfully creative and tasteful -- the lobster popover. Levi our server was very attentive to our needs and took it upon himself to replace a cocktail that was not to their standards. The Assistant General Manager was welcoming and did everything to ensure a great dining experience.
The fettuccine alfredo is amazing! Also the tomato and burrata salad was delicious. The bread in the bread basket was divine. This was the second time we'd been to Towne and while we love it we think the prices are a bit high given the portion size. If it weren't for the pricing, I'd give it an "outstanding" score.
Lydia Shire and Jasper White do not disappoint with this relatively new restaurant to the Boston scene! The atmosphere makes it conducive to both intimate and larger groups. The string of lights for outdoor dining in summer gives the ambiance of a small trattoria in Italy or France. The sea bass was extraordinary in both taste and presentation. Conveniently located near the Prudential Center and Hynes. A great addition to our "TOWNE".
This is truly one of the best restaurants in Boston, or just about anywhere on the East Coast. The food and service are impeccable! I would always recommend Towne, particularly for a special occasion and if price is not an issue.
It's the well-known Jasper White/Lydia Shire formula of trendy dining, but in this setting -- an ambiance that is halfway between Scampo glitz and Summer Shack's pseudo-dive -- it works. Excellent food and a pleasant setting.
Fish was overdone but, presentation was very good.
Although we did enjoy our evening out; we were a little disappointed in the limited menu selections---although the fettucine alfredo (which we ordered as an appetizer was by far, one of the most outstanding alfredo's we have ever eaten!!!) The service and overall ambiance of the establishment were great. We especially loved the spaciousness.
Poor service, don't accomodate dietary restrictions or concerns. Had major attitude! so noisy couldn't even carry on decent conversation
The food was wonderful, and the service was, across the board, the best we've gotten in years!
Food wasn't great! The service was ok and the reason I said this is because I noted on my reservation that I was a Concierge Services Manager checking out the restaurant for the first time and NO one approched me to say anything nor welcome me to the restaurant. So I'm not too happy with the overall customer service- The food list wasn't the best. Nedd more options on the food and drinks-
When I first walked into Towne I was somewhat disappointed. I thought it was more formal dining than it was. Then the menu looked somewhat limited until I really looked at the choices. They were all fabulous and we had an informative, delighful and attentive waiter to answer all our questions. It was a wonderful evening. I would not hesitate to go back.
the waiter kept hitting on my date. turns out he could have had her as far as i was concerned, but still kinda lame.
Loved the space but thought the food was a bit expensive for what it was. Love the gazebo outside.
Food was not inspired (especially for the price), dining room was far too noisy and the wine list disappointing.
We sat in their very romantic gazebo for a friends birthday. The vibe made it easy to take our time eating and really enjoy our time together. Our waiter was excellent and gave great reccomendations. ( the duck was very good)
never a bad moment!
Our server was right; the lobster Cobb salad was a revelation and perfect with a glass of prosecco on a hot summer day. We ordered two, and had a delightful meal punctuated with attentive service from someone who wasn't afraid to let her personality show through. Highly recommended!
we were very satisfied and had a great dinner
I have been to Towne a few times and enjoyed the food each time. A definite recommend!
The hostess staff was great, but our server was very abrupt. We think he was trying to be efficient, but he just made us nervous. The food is so thoroughly average, it's very disappointing. This was our second time at Towne and the second time it failed to impress. Scampo is so much better, I don't think Towne is worthy of Lydia. The cocktails are boring, the main course was just OK (we got the lobster roll special, meat was tough), the sides were too salty and the dessert (cupcakes) were truly awful. We all agreed that Scampo was the better choice.
Great brunch menu - lots of sweet and savory options. If you choose the sweet options, though, be prepared for very, very sweet. The waffles and the french toast were too sweet for some of the members of our group -- like candy. The savory choices were more popular. The eggs benedict was perfect as were the steak and eggs. Service was terrific. One of our guests is in a wheelchair and the restaurant was extremely accommodating and thoughtful in terms of dining room placement. Will definitely come back for brunch and any other meal.
The most delicious Wood-Grilled Lobster Pizza I ever tasted!
Good food. Interesting menu. Love the atmosphere. It was our 4th time going. Obviously, we like it.
