Town Talk Diner and Gastropub
We are a modern American eatery set in a historic Twin Cities diner with a menu that is clean, refined, and approachable. Our beer list is local, our wine list is well rounded, our cocktails are meticulously crafted. Our cuisine is delicious, local and sustainable.
For clarity, we are NOT a traditional diner. Rather a modern American eatery that happens to be set in an iconic Minneapolis diner space.
Food was very salty and felt the kitchen was off tonight
Great food & service. Very impressed. Fried green tomatoes were excellent.
TTD&G is truly a gastropub in every sense of the word. Every time I pick an entree that would not be my usual, I am constantly amazed! I chose the stuffed agolotti pasta, it was velvety smooth, rich umami, and full of individual flavors sparking at just the right time. The chef makes a point to visit every table during the course of the night. My only concern is it is TOO loud to hear the waitstaff, let alone your dinning partner.
Lovely, cozy neighborhood spot with delicious food. If you want a step up from a more casual place, but don't feel like going too fancy-pants, this is your spot. Everything we had was fantastic. You won't feel rushed either. We will definitely be back.
Came up from Chicago with my picky 17 year old to visit colleges. I googled “farm to table best of Minneapolis” and loved the story of this “diner” from 1946 and the menu that was posted (changes daily). We went with the recs from the server and she was spot on. I had the osso bucco which was smokey, tender heaven. My daughter had “the best pasta I’ve ever had”. We go to great restaurants all over Chicago and if we lived in Minneapolis this would be a place we would frequent often.
It ended up being a great place for a date. The Retro bar and overall coziness made for a relaxing environment.
The poblano corn soup was excessively salty. The vegetable rice bowl was very good and I would recommend it. The ribs were just ok, however, the presentation was very nice. We like the tangy coleslaw that came with ribs. Overall, too much $$ for quality of food.
This was our second time at Town Talk, first was in the evening and we sat at the bar. Enjoyed the food and the service so much that we planned to return. This time we went for brunch on a Sunday. The brunch menu was refreshingly more inspired than your typical breakfast options. The fried green tomatoes with eggs was fantastic and the cornbread skillets with eggs or eggs benedict were delicious as well. The chef visited our table, the server was friendly and attentive, we felt well taken care of. We will be back!!
I went with a friend for brunch. The staff was very friendly and attentive.
Better than my expectations. Definitely will go back and spread the word!
Wonderful food, great friendly service, delicious drinks! The braised short ribs in hoisin sauce were amazing: tender and flavorful.
Everything we tried was delicious! 6 people had 5 different picks from the brunch menu and every single thing was solid gold. I had the TTD Benedict and it was AMAZING! The cinnamon rolls and fresh squeezed OJ were fantastic, as well. We will definitely go back soon.
Excellent food - got to speak with one of the owners/chefs. So amazing to hear about food sourcing and the care they take with it. Incredible local gem!
As always, we were very pleased with both the cocktails and the food.
Unique and outstanding food, sometimes served by the chef to your table. Definitely worth a visit or three. Menu changes fairly often but the website menu is kept up to date.
Great food. Friendly, attentive service. We will be back.
First time there for brunch - it was FANTASTIC. Best hollandaise I’ve ever had in my TTD eggs Benedict. Cinnamon roll was fantastic with a lighter/fluffier version of cream cheese icing that was phenomenal. One of our party got the rolled omelette and it was amazing - made in a classic omelette style - levels above other regular breakfast places. Will definitely be back!
Every time we visit Minneapolis we have to stop at
Town Talk Diner. Excellent food and friendly staff.
One of the better meals that we’ve had in a long time! Each bite was fantastic! If you’re looking for a great meal this place is it!
This is a regular visit for us. The menu is always being updated and there is always a great surprise. This time they had ribs that were amazing.
Make a visit here and you will have an amazing time.
The onion tart was great...so flavorful. Had the grouper with crispy skin - delightful. The popovers are very good too!
I absolutely loved Town Talk Diner and Gastropub! Wonderful service and exceptional food! Can’t wait to visit again soon!
Extremely high quality food and excellent service. Cute setting. Will definitely be back!
Yummy food. Server had great personality and efficiency. Nicely varied menu with too many delicious options. Loved the atmosphere and the moderate sound level made it possible to hear everyone at our table. We will go back soon.
Enjoyed our meal at the bar. Our party of 4 sat at the bend in the bar, and enjoyed one another's conversation, the bar special meal, and the nicely cooked fish and vegies. Service was friendly, attentive and timely. I like having this special spot in my neighborhood.
Great food - everyone at the table raves about it that night and days later. Can’t wait to go back!
LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. Food is excellent, wonderful fresh ingredients and the owners are great people who will do anything for you. One of the best places in the Twin Cities for sure. A true jewel.
Fantastic food - super friendly staff. This is a great spot. We agreed it will be our forever brunch spot. Lovelovelove the banana bread pudding maple syrup drenched French toast and we shared the Johnny cake too. YUM!!!!!
Spare. What we got was excellent, but nothing generous feeling. Bill for the delicious soup, OK rice bowl & small glass of wine seemed high. Noise level was becoming uncomfortable before we left.
Fantastic food and service! Menu offers traditional fare but with a delicious twist.
Loved this gem. has been on our list to try, food was outstanding, husband had the fish & I had the ribs, popovers delicious, no room for dessert but we'll be back! great date night, cozy ambiance, service awesome. thank you!
Great night! Bartender great! Knew a lot about cocktails, very attentive. Food delish!!
Excellent dinner and service!
Great service with friendly wait staff. Food was delicious! Expensive enough that we won’t eat a big meal like this often but we’ll definitely come back. Next time maybe we’ll sit in the bar and have a drink and apps— the cocktail menu is fun!
Great food. Great cocktails. Great Service. I love a kitchen that will serve a great bone marrow. All the dishes were excellent. The dining room is a little noisy. Highly recommended.
Wonderful salmon and stuffed pasta. Bone marrow app was nice. Pasta portion was a bit small
Outstanding meal at Town Talk Diner. The menu is curated from locally available ingredients. The preparation is outstanding leading to a tremendous meal. This is a hidden gem in Minneapolis!
Very pleasantly surprised! We had high expectations based on the reviews and they far exceeded them! We had brunch and bloody Mary's. The cinnamon rolls are unbelievable! We will return!
Outstanding food and atmosphere! Unique home made food! Definitely visiting again!
Our dinner at Town Talk was one of those wonderful surprises. We expected a good dinner and those expectations were exceeded with great service, amazing food, and a bonus chat with the chef. We started with the warm goat cheese and onion tart and would be happy to eat it again today. Our entrees (pork rib eye with collards and salmon with Israeli couscous) were both beautiful and delicious. We look forward to a return visit soon.
