Town Ratings and Reviews
The service was great and food was prepared to expectations. The restaurant is large and seem fitting for groups of various sizes and occasions.
A lot of their meals has an Asian fusion touch to them. I ordered the filet mignon and it was cooked just right.
Lastly, they have the most delicious bread pudding!
We showed up early and were asked to sit at bar, have a drink.... they forgot about us until we asked. Then when sested were forgotten again until we asked. Once the meal started it was fine and had the great brown sugar bacon (not to be missed). When the bill came the manager told us it was on the house. Now that is class!!!! We will be back!!
This was my second time here.we loved it so much the first time we had to come back for a second time!! Unfortunately the service left much to be desired! The server was somber, slow in taking our orders & did not engage or ask if we were celebrating anything, we celebrated 2 birthdays that day. The server did not give her name though she was prompt to fill our endless mimosas. Still loved the mimosas for brunch & the delicious bread pudding! The chicken & waffles were not the same as we remembered last time we were there but we all enjoyed our lunch.
The Halibut tostadas as appetizers are our favorite. The New recipe for their Sea bass was light and delicious. My husband ordered their famous skirt steak which was well-done instead of medium rare. They immediately took care of it and brought him a new one. Service is impeccable! It is our favorite restaurant in San Carlos.
Our waiter was fabulous. The front desk staff were not accommodating to us wanting to sit at the bar first before sitting at our table. They also did not bring the cake to the server for my moms birthday so he knew nothing about it and ruined the surprise. Not, our waiters fault, but the girls at the front desk. They also put a time limit on our table before we even sat down which seemed rude as we had a reservation.
Town is consistently the restaurant that we come back to for a great dinner. I have taken my company here on multiple locations as well as celebrating my father's 75th birthday, client dinners and multiple dates with my wife. The wine list is very good, the meals well done and they have excellent appetizers as well. I will recommend this place to anyone.
This is a good restaurant if you are not vegan. There were two vegan selections, a quinoa and roasted vegetable bowl, and the ubiquitous avocado toast. The quinoa bowl was huge and quite good. The avocado toast was listed under "to share" so I expected more than two very small pieces. It was tasty, even though there was only one bite per person for my table of five.
My companions enjoyed their meals and topped off with dessert, which I could only observe with envy. They all made aporoving and appreciative comments about the sundae, bread pudding and chocolate cake. I wished for something sweet to enjoy too. Vegans in Calufornia arent rare and we often dine with omnivores. It would be nice for higher end chefs to recognize and accommodate us too.
We celebrated my husband’s birthday at Town. The minute we walked in, they mentioned his birthday and everyone was so thoughtful. The service was great and the food was excellent. The sangria was the best I have ever had. They aklo served my husband a complimentary dessert for his birthday. The bread pudding was delicious mainly because of the maple bourbon sauce. The only downsides were the noise level and there was really no waiting area.
The cucumber Martini is Fantastic, when made by a certain bartender! They got my order wrong, & when it finally came it was terrible, I could not eat it! The chicken was not cooked correctly! However, I did tell our wItress, & they did not charge me for my meal! Greatly appreciated! I will go again.
Dinner was excellent: Teriyaki skirt steak and ahi tuna. This was our anniversary, and Town does occasions well--we received a card, souvenir menus and a complimentary shared dessert. Signature martinis with fruit puree were delicious but frankly not a good prequel to a meal (too sweet and strong, better as happy hour or post-meal fare).
At Town, booth seating offers old-school comfort. Most booths adjoin a bar area with muted TV screens showing sports. We had no difficulty hearing each other at normal levels, but this was early on a Monday evening. Not recommended as a place for quiet personal conversation.
Our family loves Town for birthdays. Probably the only issue we had this time was that our booth was right next to the bar, and one of the members of our party struggles with loud social situations. We’ll be sure to request a quieter booth in the rear next time.
Town is one of our all time favorite places! They never disappoint and they are always service oriented! I left a note that it was our second wedding anniversary and they planned a special personalized menu, a card and a Comp dessert! They are always accommodating and always attentive! We go here often bc we love the food, but we love this place even more for special occasions be they are absolutely awesome! Thank you!
I've been here three times for lunch, and it's always enjoyable.
The salmon, roasted or grilled, is tastefully seasoned. The accompanying veggies and their salads are fresh and nicely prepared.
The service has been friendly and helpful but never rushed. You can take as long as you want, at least at lunch, without feeling like your server is in any hurry for you to leave.
The only downside is that parking in downtown San Carlos is usually a challenge. There's a large lot behind the restaurant that usually has a spot or two available, but probably a good idea to leave time for parking.
It was unusually quiet there for a Saturday night. The place is typically packed, but I'd say this time it was just busy. The cheesesteak egg rolls were amazing, as was the ribeye. The Brussels were a little greasy for my taste, and wish they had sliced the mushrooms before sauteing them. Town still remains one of my favorite meal experiences in the Bay area!
