Town Ratings and Reviews
We went there for my birthday. The appetizers were very tasty and the warm salad was delicious. The steak was very sad. I ordered prime rib which was very fatty and basically had no flavor. He ordered the crab encrusted filet and he said it was the worst filet he had ever had. Again, basically no flavor. Our sides of creamed spinach & baked potato were very good. Fortunately my daughter and her boyfriend's meals were good according to them. We have eaten at Town before so we wouldn't let this one bad experience sour us but we definitely did not enjoy our meat which went home to the dog.
Town is the best restaurant in San Carlos and the Peninsula. Their food is consistently delicious and cooked to perfection. I had the Chilean Sea Bass and it was amazing. My husband had the rib eye, which was tender and cooked medium rare as ordered. Of course, we had to have their famous warm bread pudding. It is so, so good, I don’t order it at any other restaurant. Town’s is the best!
Strangely the extensive brunch menu only offered one seafood option (crab sandwich), though when we inquired the server offered to have salmon added to a salad. Unfortunately the salmon was served in skinny, overcooked, quarter sized pieces. The server was excellent though (as were the fries).
Celebrating our birthdays late we tried Town on a recommendation. Amazed at the trouble they went to by giving each of us a menu with Happy Birthday at the top & our individual names on it...great souvenir. We tried the chicken & waffles which was ok at best. Unfortunately, the chicken was far too well done & the crust lacked flavor almost burnt. The mimosas were great and the special touch at the end was the surprise double deserts on the house. In spite of the overdone chicken, we will definitely be back. The attention to service & ambiance made up for it.
Town is our place to go for all of our special celebrations - we celebrated our son's 16th Birthday on February 8th and, once again, everything was impecable! Our waiter, JJ, is not only our waiter, he has become family to us. He knows what we like and want and everything is always just right!
We went to Town as my daughter requested it for her birthday dinner. On the upside, the food was excellent and the service superb. They have a complete wine list including many of my personal favorites. On the downside, the place is very loud and crowded, the food is expensive and the portions are obscene. Alas, their wine list was out of date as they did not have the vintage that was printed on it for the wine we ordered. I have come to accept that (grudgingly) from lesser establishments but it should not happen in an upscale restaurant like Town.
We came here to celebrate my best friends bday. We arrived about 15 minutes early to our reservation time and they sat us down right away. They printed custom menues that wished my friend a happy bday including her name. They also provided her with a card and complimentary dessert. The servers were on top of keeping the bottomless mimosas full. It was such a great first time experience. Our server was also extremely friendly, pleasant, and attentive! Loved the cheesesteak egg rolls.
Always energetic. A little too noisy for my liking. Outdoor seating is nice, especially the blankets they provide. However, we ordered dessert after our dinner and when it arrived, the heaters and lights went off for the night at 10 pm. No one offered to turn anything back on for us, so we felt rushed to leave because we were very cold. That was a shame because it was a sad ending to a lovely dinner.
I really like this restaurant and have had a great experience every time I have dined there. My most recent experience is the only one that wasn’t perfect. As usual the food was great, we were celebrating my birthday and I requested a gluten free meal. Everything was fine until they brought out the dessert and it was bread pudding (not gluten free)!!! My guests enjoyed it but I was unfortunately left out. This was disappointing but not a deal breaker what was more bothersome was that our server completely blanked on my gluten free request. He did apologize for this but his “miss” was bothersome to me.
That being said, I love the restaurant and my previous experiences will keep me coming back.
Always a great experience at Town. Food and service are excellent as well as the selection of food and beverages. Cocktails are always great. Lively crowd. When things don't go as planned (we got sat 20 minutes late for our reservation), they made up for it with special complimentary treats. Highly recommended!
