Town Ratings and Reviews
Town has great food and a very active atmosphere. It's good for a special occasion but if you want a quiet dinner, this is not the place. We were able to hear each other but there's a lot going on all around. The open bar in the middle is huge and the chefs are in an open kitchen.
Town is a fun place for dinner either on a date or with a group. Filets were top notch, cooked just right. There were lots of sides to choose from, I don't think anyone would have problems finding at least two.
Very busy restaurant, it looks like reservations are needed most anytime and any day of the week.
We have been visiting Town since years on special occasion. The reason is on a special occasion you wanna be 100% sure, everything is perfect. And it is! It is not (only) about the free bread pudding (which is delicious) or the personalized menu. But great food, exceptional service, cozy booths, it all just comes together and creates the perfect environment for you and your special day. Thank you Town for being this amazing place for us over the years.
The server was a little busy, too many tables. Forgot we ordered appetizer and soup. First time I tried their surf and turf, not bad, not great. I have better experiences with the skrt steak and prime rib in the past. The sea bass mini tostadas were a great new edition.
our server was actually excellent, but there must have been a break down in communication. She did not initially come to our table for a long time. She seem frustrated when she found out that no one had come to our table after we were seated. She definitely made up for that with her outstanding service.
Town is one of our favorite restaurants on the Peninsula. While they have a lot of choices on the menu, the restaurant is best viewed as a steakhouse, and it is one of the best in the Bay Area. My favorites are the prime rib and the ribeye, but everything on the menu is great, including the meatloaf (seriously, the meatloaf is phenomenal). The fish dishes and salads are also well-executed, so there is something for everybody at Town.
Overall, good dining experience. Special occasion as my Uncle from Hong Kong was visiting and we wanted to take him to our favorite place.
The only smudge in our experience was that my Uncle ordered the Prime Rib item and there was quite a lot of Fat pieces in it and not too much of the meat. It was quite apparent on his plate after he finished eating.
I went to celebrate a friend's birthday. from the moment they checked us in the hostess and waiter knew it was a birthday and were well wishing him. They printed a menu with a "Happy Birthday Joe" at the top. They brought him a card from the owner and brought out a complementary dessert. Made the evening very lovely and special. Dinner was great. They went above and beyond to create a memorable evening.
It was our son's 50th birthday and the personalized menu and birthday card made it very
special. Our server, Kyle, was fantastic! He was always there if we needed anything, but
he never made us feel rushed. He was kind, courteous and made our special occasion
outstanding. We can't wait to come back again for lunch.
Town is an excellent restaurant appealing to all ages. Our friends from out of the area wanted to go there for dinner as someone in Los Angeles had recommended it to them. I’ve been there many times eating both inside and outside. Everyone I’ve gone with has loved it but it is too noisy for me as I have a hearing problem so we went early when there is less noise. The service is the best and the food good. My ahi tuna was refrigerator cold in the middle which I have never experienced but the outside was nicely seared. I never complain but did mention it to the waiter to pass it on to the chef. I did not hear back. Other than that it was a great evening.
Sometimes you Needs great steakhouse that isn’t going to break the bank. This place is it. Had a wonderful experience. I’m a little stingy with the star rating system. I highly recommend. Prime rib was great, baked potato was huge and stuffed, service was right on time. Both visits here have been the same. Great spot.
The restaurant is nice but the women hostess is not friendly as she’s the first person we meet coming through the door. Restaurant need to find a more enthustic person to greet diners and the meals are on the expensive. The meals were good but the sides are not very good. The cole slaw was running on my enchilada red sauce and I could not taste the red sauce. There was too much mayo in the slaw and hopefully recommend cutting back. Nice to have done bread with our steak dinner. The chocolate 6 layer cake was much too sweet and frosting.
Our waiter was very friendly and made our dining experience enjoyable.
We booked over a week in advance for a Friday evening family dinner and got a booth with a lovely view of the compost bin just off of the kitchen (see attached). I suppose if the door was kept closed it would have been okay, but it was propped open the entire time. Also got a lovely view of the servers printing out their checks and the like in that back room. The busboys clanging glasses and getting settings from the area just behind the booth was also annoying, so the tasteless and overcooked food just didn't matter after all that.
Brought all our guests here over Christmas weekend. This is one place that is a MUST when we have visitors! I highly recommend the weekend brunch, especially if you are looking for great food and endless mimosas! Make sure to make a reservation or plan on a long wait or no table.
