Town Ratings and Reviews
I love Town and have never had a bad meal or bad service. The Iceberg Wedge was great. Just enough dressing on it. The Prime Rib I had was terrific. My sides were done to perfection -- the potato au gratin and the grilled asparagus. I highly recommend Town!
We came here for our anniversary, and we had a great time. The host and waitress were both friendly and pretty. The food was excellent though a bit on the pricey side, but you get what you pay for. The place was nicely decorated and it was casually romantic. We loved the vibrant bar scene setup that just brought a lot of energy to the place.
Heard great things about Town before I visited the restaurant. I had a good meal with some nice service. But it wasn't as great as I was expecting. If I was down that way again I might go back. But living in SF, there are just as many good restaurants up here at the same caliber if not better. And for the price, I'd probably save the gas and just dine in the city. Nice restaurant nonetheless.
Town is always a hit with me, my family, and friends. It is noisy due to the central bar location and open kitchen, but that is what makes this place special. The food and service are always “good” to “outstanding”, and we are never disappointed. I do recommend reservations, as even the bar seating fills up early.
Ambiance and service pleasant and conducive for business. However, when I asked if the asparagus was really fresh and still in season - the answer was yes and the soup is good. I didn't get a complete answer to my question and received information that I didn't ask for. Sincere communication with customers is paramount for quality service.
The asperagus soup and enchiladas both lacked flavor, and would not recommend. In this market, being stellar about all levels of service is the bar.
The service was great and so was our waitress! It was mom's birthday and they made her feel special. We did have to wait 10-15 minutes for our table and quiet a few parties went ahead of us even though we had a reservation. The food was awesome and the portions were a good size. Awesome to see an open kitchen and the bar was hopping. Nice selections of wine, beer and beverages! Mom even stated that the prime rib was delicious, even better than the House of Prime Rib in San Francisco. The steak was tender and cooked just right. The noise level from the diners was loud, but the walls between the booths were high enough that we could hear each other talk. Memorable birthday for mom!
The food was excellent. Every dish we were served was remarkable. I had the rib-eye steak and it was done perfectly. The potatoes au gratin & grilled asparagus were very tasty. Their bread pudding was worth coming alone.
The service was great.
My only complaint about Town is related to the acoustics. It was really hard to be able to hear what the person across the table from me had to say. In a party of 2, I'd expect a more intimate dinner, but instead I heard the neighboring table more. Of course it didn't help that the patrons next to us were being exceptionally loud and obnoxious. If the sounds of neighboring tables were dampened more the experience would've been 5 stars across the board.
Town is one of my favorites restaurants in San Carlos.
I took one of my staff there for lunch and requested a table by the window. We got a great table and our waitress was very attentive and friendly. The food was fantastic, we had the demi cups of soup, the Ahi Tuna Salad and the Steak Salad and ended the meal with a great cup of coffee.
The only thing is that when we first arrived, one of the hostesses was a bit dismissive or just to busy to take care of us, but luckily the other hostess stepped in and everything else was just fine.
I can't wait to take my friend there for lunch on Saturday.
We had father's day brunch at Towns the past weekend, I was very excited to bring my hubby to try this restaurant since the review seems to be great on Yelp. However, we got lucky to have a table outside, the weather was nice so definitely was a plus for the genearl atmosphere.
To tell the truth, we were not very impressed by the food, we ordered scrambled egg and egg benedict and mimosa, the dish was $14-$17 each, which i didn't think it was worth that much since we went to many good restaurants that will normally charge you around $12-$14 for brunch course, however, the good was not bad but not as good or speical as i thought. I think I will still go back to try their steak at night, I heard the steak is quite yummy there.
It's really boring that all the OpenTable reviews average out to 4 stars. What can you learn from that? Town is a hoppin' place. It's hard to get a reservation less than a day or two in advance, but walk-ins can often slip in at the kitchen counter, if they don't mind waiting a bit. The bar is always crowded. They serve premium steakhouse food well prepared. Prime rib is always excellent (5 stars there). I like their burgers, my wife likes the pulled pork. Sides of asparagus and roasted tomatoes are always terrific. Service is very good, very friendly.
Food was very good and server was really nice, but seemed overwhelmed. Actually, all staff seemed harried, but again, were nice. Hostess gave a choice on tables, which was appreciated.
A pet peeve that ALL servers should know is to never take away plates until everyone is finished with their dinner. Again, everyone seemed a bit anxious to move things along.
Some people may concider this some what of a meat market. But I am a foody! The food, wine, cocktails... And the service and energy and ambiance are all awesome! My friend and I were NOT there to meet meet anyone... but even that whole scene is entertaining to watch. I hadn't been in a long while, but we both plan to become regulars there! I hear the brunch is excellent! We plan to try it soon! :D
First you have to start with the Philly Cheesesteak Rolls for appetizers, then the warm Napa cabbage salad. And, for your entree I recommend the skirt steak and the pistachio crusted fish entree isn't so bad either. Both are AWESOME. But you can't leave the place without having either their bread pudding or banana pound cake OR both. YUMMO !!!!
Big bar. Several TV's. Lots of booths. Good food. Excellent service. Very friendly, accommodating and engaging. I am sure the room was designed to be loud which makes it seem like the vibrant scene it is. Unfortunately, unless you talk in a very loud voice, or get very close it is difficult to have any kind of conversation.
