Town Ratings and Reviews
We go to Town for special occasions because it's a bit too pricey for weekly dining for us. It's very loud in the front of the house, but in the back the noise is muted a lot. The service is terrific, but the food is average to good for the price. The halibut was dry (overcooked), but the ribs were very savory and tangy. The garlic mashed is just right. Spinach was a bit soggy since they plop it right on top of the mashed potatoes and the slap the halibut on top of that. The bread pudding is amazing!
Overall we like Town, though, even with the little nitpicks aside.
This is our go-to for brunch. We always make a reservation via Open Table as they are quite popular and it is always busy for brunch. The staff was even kind enough to warn us that we should arrive early due to a local event, and limited parking. I was sad that after all else year, they decided to remove the meatloaf sandwich from the brunch menu. It was my favorite item, and I hope they consider bringing it back!
Loved how they gave us a special menu saying “Happy 15th Birthday” for my daughter today! They actually read I put down in the occasion part when I made my reservation and then gave her a bread pudding with a candle! Details like that, impresses me because it shows awesome customer service and this is 1 of the many, many reasons why we keep coming here, it’s not only because of the amazing food but because of the awesome customer service!!!
Out of town friends arrived and I was looking for something local and special for this foodie and my son who is becoming a foodie. One is a pesca-vegan and my son loves steak. They were both delighted. My son wants to eat here all the time now! Fresh Halibut was excellent and my friend enjoyed the fact he could order a flight of 3 oz wines to try, while I happily settled in with a 9 oz glass after reviewing a great selection of wines by the glass. It's expensive, but the value is there and the service is very good. Opentable makes scheduling a reservation easy! Parking can be difficult, but we only had to walk two short blocks on a lovely evening. We ate inside, but there were diners outdoors with their dogs. Friendly staff, professionals and after work deals going on inside, and then there was us-- coming in from a evening of sport and errands.
Always feels special, like SF dining. Everything is cooked well, nice selection, however, they need to change it up, after eating there several times its feels like same old same old. It can get very loud, it feels like they rush your meal to move the service along for the next guests, not a place for intimate dining, they want you in and out. Great place to be seen.
Wonderful attention to details. We mentioned we were celebrating our anniversary and they greeted us with congratulations, had custom printed menus, gave us a greeting card thank you and served us a complimentary dessert. Just over the top attention on top of an already delicious and savory cuisine. I love going to TOWN for all my special date nights.
As always, we enjoyed our time at Town. Great service, ambiance, and a wide variety of food. One heads-up to would be diners with young toddlers/infants needing a high chair- ask for a table outside or a non-booth table towards the front when making your reservation. The high chair does not mesh well with the booth table - the table is too high, and due to the elevated booth the high chair can't be scooted comfortably under the booth. They were able to move us to a non-booth table in the front, and it all worked out well.
Town is a very noisy local spot mainly intertaining an older crowd (especially at the bar).
The ribs I had were over sweet almost sickering. The Green Beans were just as bad. I think for the price you pay there should be more on the favor of the food instead of covering the tast with sauce.
I had set a reservation to celebrate a birthday there and they were absolutely AMAZING! They were able to surprise the birthday individual by going above and beyond which I absolutely appreciated! Food was amazing! I didn't particularly like my prime rib cause it was mostly chucks of fat so I just ended up cutting it out and eating around it. I'm glad the birthday individual loved the ribeye! Super satisfied. They also surprised him with a desert after our dinner.
What I was impressed with was how friendly and how they greeted us with a smile upon arrive and had the table ready! Our waiter and host was amazing and overall, I thoroughly enjoyed our time there.
Ps. That Latin corn was spot on! Yum!
Thanks for having us and making a birthday special!! We will be framing the menu! :)
Hostess was quick to seat us upon our arrival. Waitress was super friendly and attentive to us; especially kind to my daughter. She helped with wine selection and always came to us smiling. We were celebrating my birthday and the bread pudding was awesome as per usual. Food did not disappoint either. Love Town.
Overall very nice restaurant. My wife and I shared the ribeye steak. We asked for medium and it came what we from the Midwest would consider rare. We asked the waiter to have it cooked to medium and it came back medium-rare, so we just ate it as all the sides were getting cold. All of the food was very good quality. The desert menu was limited so we went to another restaurant down the street for dessert.
