The real thing… yes sir! Four pieces of fresh chicken gently rolled in our secret herbed flour then fried just right. May take some time… but it's worth the wait!
Pan roasted and served with mushroom risotto finished with a house made bourbon-shallot cream
Our halibut is served gratinee style. That is, topped with crab meat, artichoke hearts, parmesan cheese, then baked to a golden brown
The food was satisfactory as well as the service. Beautiful, old home provided the back drop for this restaurant.
Great food, great atmosphere and outstanding service. JP helped to make the evening memorable.
Chicken night at the Tousey House was great as usual. The fried chicken was delicious. The service in the bar was outstanding. Our friends had never been here but will definitely come back
Restaurant was a little warm but, we were on second floor.
I am so happy this restaurant survived COVID. We were greeted by a lovely hostess, showing us out table. Our server had the entire room she was serving, so she was very busy, however attentive to our needs. Enjoyed a salad asking for additional goat cheese she brought quickly. Loved the relaxed Shakertown feel of this place.
The hostess was lovely, our waiter was not. He seemed very disinterested in serving us and just generally doing his job. It didn’t get busy until about the time we were leaving, so I can’t even excuse it as him being swamped. Our entrees sat around longer than they should’ve, since my fries were lukewarm when I got them. We weren’t offered any additional water, even though our glasses were low and the table next to us got refills. I was disappointed because we were there for our anniversary and the Tousey house had great reviews. The crab cakes were delicious as well as the bread pudding, even though that all sat in the kitchen for a while. It was barely warm and the ice cream was partially melted. Not sure why we didn’t have the same wonderful experience the other reviewers had.
Delicious! Went for brunch. Highly recommend the chicken and waffle.
Great place for brunch. One of our favorites. Thanks!
Been to the Tousey House Tavern several times, it's always beautiful and the food is great.
We had our family in for a wedding and we made brunch plans at Tousey House Tavern as our last get together before everyone started leaving town. The atmosphere was nice and quiet for conversation. The person serving us was very friendly and accommodating to our group. The food was delicious and a good portion to fill comfortably full. The historic house is a trip back in time as you enjoy a fabulous meal. We live in Burlington so Tousey House Tavern is one of a few hometown places to eat. The staff worked very well together to make the dining experience more enjoyable. Thank you very much for the hospitality and delicious food!
Brought some friends from out of town for dinner. They absolutely loved the food. Steven was a great server, as well as the young men who were helping keep our water glasses full and clearing the tables. Kudos to all, and we will be back soon!
We sat in the bar area, more casual atmosphere that the dining room. Service is always top notch. Food delicious.
Tousey House never disappoints. Great food and service (always top notch service from Greg). My favorite local restaurant in Northern Kentucky.
This is one of our favorite spots. That being said……totally understaffed, was told we had the last of the nights special, prime rib. We had a 615p reservation. And it tasted like the last. Dry and no flavor. Button mushrooms over salted to a point you could not eat. Sad to say the least. Our server did a good job considering he had the entire first floor. Might be a while before we return.
I’m addicted to the boneless chicken thighs in the creamy sauce with what tastes like brandy in the secret sauce. Must try!
Wonderful since the day the doors opened; I was employed at the opening way back in 2008 and Chef Johnathan to this day lives up to the standards of excellence only the Wainscott family can provide!
P.S. : TRY THE FRIED GREEN TOMATOES!!!!!
My wife and I took a friend from out of area. Everything was awesome! I made the reservations on line and it was really easy. The receptionist was very friendly! The two young men who waited on us were friendly, efficient and just right! It was a great experience!!
Truly a gem! The food is was fantastic and make sure to leave room for dessert! The service was impeccable. Well worth a drive to eat if coming from out of town.
Amazing food and awesome service! You must have the fried green tomatoes if you come here, the best ever!
We made reservations months in advance for a large group. But when we arrived the staff wanted to sit us all in different parts of the restaurant. We wanted to sit together but the staff said all the tables were booked and we couldnt move. After repeatedly asking if there was a way to move us around so we could be in the same room because there was plenty of empty tables, it was finally done...but definitely the staff was confused of their own booking system and clearly not understanding the situation. As it it turned out all the "booked" tables were actually reserved for our large party and this could have been resolved so much easier if the staff just listened to us trying to explain. But its ok as it all worked out. We just felt sorry for the two ladies trying to help. Overall great place to eat and we'll recommend others to visit. Thank you...
Went for our 7 year anniversary. So delicious, great service, and fun experience!
Old-school atmosphere in the middle of Burlington was quaint and cozy. The food was really good, however for the price coupled with the slow service, I’m not sure the value was what I expected for its rating. Could have just been one of those nights as it took 45 minutes past our reservation time to be seated. I’d still recommend to a friend.
Great meal and service, pretty hot upstairs
Great food and great service. We were celebrating my husband's 70th birthday. Everything wss pefect.
Let people know how much the special is. Friday night the special was way over priced an not worth the money.
The most beautiful patio in the county! A pork chop grilled to perfection, a cool glass of wine, and an all around wonderful spot.
Great menu. Delicious food. Recommend the chicken thighs and the blackberry cobbler.
The service was terrible and very disappointing.
The guy Steve who was serving us was very overwhelmed with a few tables and was not attentive.
The food was less than mediocre for a high price.
This is not common here but very frustrating when bringing people in from out of town and experiencing this.
I have been to the Tousey House and last night was the worse experience I have had. We got there and were seated. We got our waters and were greeted by the service within 10 minutes however that’s the fastest service. After that we sat for probably 30 mins before the server came back to get our order for our food even though we knew what we wanted. The server was too busy with two tables of guests he was continuously talking to and charming. We were completely forgotten about. I got the Filet and it was undercooked (based on what I ordered) and dry. I was disappointed!
Great, will go back
Our Server Jennifer was amazing! She went out of her way to make our special occasion really special. The hostesses were great as well managing to get me a table on the patio with minimal wait time. Great staff!
Decore and ambiance makes this place special. However, our food seemed to sit and never came out hot. Walleye ended up having bones. Cocktails seemed weak and at times our waiter forgot to bring items put. Perhaps we caught them on a bad night.
Food was absolutely outstanding! Will recommend it to all my friends!
We celebrated my son’s graduation at Tousey House and had a great experience!
Friendly service with a smile.
We love to dine in the bar, more casual atmosphere, same fabulous service and food!
My family had dinner at Tousey House Tavern for Mother's Day. Everyone at the restaurant was pleasant, but the atmosphere tends to be a bit loud. This is mainly due to the venue being a historic house (part of the appeal). We were seated quickly, but after that, everything else slowed to a crawl.
Food was well received by everyone for the most part. None of it was of poor quality, but instructions were not followed with two of our steaks. Both were overcooked, and the portion seemed light for the cost. Add in the fact that refills only occurred one time in the nearly hour and a half we were seated for dinner, and it adds up to a very mediocre experience.
It was Mothers Day and we tried to be understanding but we just had a bad brunch experience. We made reservation for 3, they sat us at a table for 6 which was fine by us except the waitress thought we were waiting for 3 more people and left us with out taking our orders for almost 1/2 hour. Prior to going I had emailed the restaurant to ask about their kids brunch menu and was told they offer a kids waffle. When we ordered the waitress said they didn't offer any kids brunch items and so we ordered the chicken and waffles, less the chicken which was a lot more expensive than a kids waffle! Food came and my daughters waffle and geotta were cold, both my husband's and my meals were so salty, almost inedible, and we like salty foods! The waitress did apologize for the wait at the beginning, offered us a free dessert but then came back and said our choice was sold out and gave us something random. We've been here for dinner before and never had an issue, but this Mothers Day was definitely a let down.
Went for Mother’s Day.. the spinach and artichoke dip and the fried chicken were both amazing
Loved the ambiance! We had the chicken and waffles and the eggs benedict and both were delicious! Would definitely go again!
