Four Strangers Walk Into A Bar...

30 years ago, four people working in the hospitality industry met in a bar on Toulouse Street in The French Quarter of New Orleans. Over time they became friends and when the first one moved away he stated, "our paths will cross again." Sure enough, over the next three decades, we worked together and apart in cities across the United States, including New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Telluride, Washington DC and of course The Big Easy. In early 2021 an opportunity presented itself and Toulouse was born.

Using local, sustainable ingredients, we produce food with a hint of New Orleans style, in the type of place where tourists feel at home, locals are at home, and everyone is surrounded by family and friends.

If you’re on the hunt for a hidden gem, look no further! This place has a cozy vibe inside, and the outdoor seating is perfect for people-watching as folks stroll down to the beach. The drink and cocktail menu is impressive, too. To start our meal, we indulged in some crispy fried Brussels sprouts drizzled with a fantastic aoli sauce—absolutely delicious! The kids went for the chicken Caesar salad, and they seemed to love it. We decided to share the shrimp and grits, but a word of caution: if you’re not a fan of spice, you might want to tread carefully! The blackened shrimp was flavorful but definitely packed a kick, and I'm more of a grilled shrimp person myself. If I had known, I would have opted for the grilled version instead, but nonetheless, it was still tasty! And for dessert, we couldn't resist the pistachio cheesecake—it was a delightful ending to a satisfying meal. I did notice that they were a bit understaffed that night, but the two waitstaff really hustled to keep things moving. Overall, it was a fantastic experience despite a few hiccups in service!

Pleasant environment but the service was a little slow. The salad I ordered with blackened chicken was over dressed and therefore a little wilted. It was also small considering the price.

What a great find. We were so pleasantly surprised to find this hidden gem. The service was outstanding, the food was outstanding, the ambience was perfect. We were attending a concert at the outdoor amphitheater, and the walking distance was so great and so easy. We loved every single bit of it and will definitely go back. Plus, they have happy hour every day and amazing cocktails.

Another great dinner at Toulouse. Valentina was our server again and she was fabulous (as always). We had the crab cake appetizer. It was excellent. As main dishes we had the steak and the shrimp and grits. Both dishes were delicious. They also have some nice wines that go with the dinners. Definitely a place to return to for another great dinner.

Toulouse was wonderful. From the food to the drinks everyone had a great time and really enjoyed the food. Shrimp and Grits was a highlight and I highly recommend adding the Andouille sausage.

Very good food (wings as an appetizer, salmon and steak). Nice selection of wines. Most important is the service provided by Valentina. She is very friendly, attentive and helpful. We will be back in a few days for another great dinner.

Our first time to Toulouse. It’s off the beaten path just a few blocks from the busy main drive and casino’s. Chris was our server and he and the other staff were always checking on us. They brought a bowl of water and a piece of bacon for our small dog which was awesome. Food was terrific. Much much better than going to one of the overpriced tourist restaurants on the main street.

We had a great visit to Toulouse. I had the steak and my wife had the shrimp and grits with added andouille sausage per recommendation by our outstanding server (Chris was his name I believe). The steak was cooked perfectly and the sides were great compliments in taste. The shrimp and grits were also delicious. We had the poutine to start and were blown away by the flavors. Our mojito and mango habanero Paloma were exquisite as well. We will definitely be visiting again next time we’re in the area.

Every time we visit Lake Tahoe, this restaurant is a must-stop for us. The food is consistently amazing — fresh, flavorful, and made with care. Whether it’s brunch, lunch, or dinner, we’ve never had a bad meal here. On our most recent visit, we were lucky to be served by an Argentinian waiter who was incredibly kind and welcoming. His warm personality made our dining experience even more enjoyable. Great food, great service, and a cozy atmosphere — this place never disappoints. Highly recommend!
