Four Strangers Walk Into A Bar...

30 years ago, four people working in the hospitality industry met in a bar on Toulouse Street in The French Quarter of New Orleans. Over time they became friends and when the first one moved away he stated, "our paths will cross again." Sure enough, over the next three decades, we worked together and apart in cities across the United States, including New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Telluride, Washington DC and of course The Big Easy. In early 2021 an opportunity presented itself and Toulouse was born.

Using local, sustainable ingredients, we produce food with a hint of New Orleans style, in the type of place where tourists feel at home, locals are at home, and everyone is surrounded by family and friends.

Pleasant environment but the service was a little slow. The salad I ordered with blackened chicken was over dressed and therefore a little wilted. It was also small considering the price.

Another great dinner at Toulouse. Valentina was our server again and she was fabulous (as always). We had the crab cake appetizer. It was excellent. As main dishes we had the steak and the shrimp and grits. Both dishes were delicious. They also have some nice wines that go with the dinners. Definitely a place to return to for another great dinner.

Toulouse was wonderful. From the food to the drinks everyone had a great time and really enjoyed the food. Shrimp and Grits was a highlight and I highly recommend adding the Andouille sausage.

Very good food (wings as an appetizer, salmon and steak). Nice selection of wines. Most important is the service provided by Valentina. She is very friendly, attentive and helpful. We will be back in a few days for another great dinner.

Our first time to Toulouse. It’s off the beaten path just a few blocks from the busy main drive and casino’s. Chris was our server and he and the other staff were always checking on us. They brought a bowl of water and a piece of bacon for our small dog which was awesome. Food was terrific. Much much better than going to one of the overpriced tourist restaurants on the main street.

We had a great visit to Toulouse. I had the steak and my wife had the shrimp and grits with added andouille sausage per recommendation by our outstanding server (Chris was his name I believe). The steak was cooked perfectly and the sides were great compliments in taste. The shrimp and grits were also delicious. We had the poutine to start and were blown away by the flavors. Our mojito and mango habanero Paloma were exquisite as well. We will definitely be visiting again next time we’re in the area.

Every time we visit Lake Tahoe, this restaurant is a must-stop for us. The food is consistently amazing — fresh, flavorful, and made with care. Whether it’s brunch, lunch, or dinner, we’ve never had a bad meal here. On our most recent visit, we were lucky to be served by an Argentinian waiter who was incredibly kind and welcoming. His warm personality made our dining experience even more enjoyable. Great food, great service, and a cozy atmosphere — this place never disappoints. Highly recommend!

We made an early reservation on a Thursday night. Dinner was delicious! We had the butternut squash ravioli and the shrimp/grits with andouille sausage for our meal plus a Caesar salad (minus tomatoes and bacon). Food was delicious and cocktails were very good. We’ll definitely come back!

Toulouse was a wonderful experience celebrate our 20th Wedding Anniversary. The food was incredibly delicious, particularly the shrimp & grits and baked chicken wings. My salmon and asparagus dish was delicious as well. Valentina was our server, and she was really very pleasant and attentive to our dining experience. We were looking for a unique restaurant that we've haven't tried before that wasn't too far from our home (moved to Carson Valley about a year ago), and this restaurant and bar did not disappoint! We will definitely return, and we'll also try the Happy Hour. We highly recommend Toulouse!

Can not recommend this place enough. The food was incredible, and the staff make you feel like family with hugs by the time you leave. They go above and beyond to make it a wonderful dining experience from start to finish. Try the shrimp and grits- still thinking about them. And don’t get me started on the cheese cake!
