Toulouse - Houston
In the tradition of all fine bistros, Toulouse has imaginative and seasonal menus that provide exactly what its patrons long for: cozy tables open to the street, mouth-watering specialties a la Française, delicious desserts made from scratch and an extensive wine list. Enjoy the tastes of France with our exciting yet comforting dishes such as our famous quiches, an expertly cooked trout almondine or the best mussels in the city.
Dine with us and be transported to Paris, if only for a moment.
Great food and ambiance
Very nice restaurant, the food very well prepared.
While they were busy, the noise level made conversation very easy. The service was great. While not a problem, the location inside the mall made finding the restaurant a little difficult. Overall, an excellent experience and will go again.
Toulouse is, overall, an average restaurant, with food that is not really French (neither Quiche nor Beef Bourguignon tasted anything like what I remember on trips to France) and servers who do not always meet the mark for professionalism. On the positive side, the restaurant is located in a nice, albeit acoustically live, space in a very nice, upscale shopping center with a free parking deck. At this price point in Houston, I am surprised the restaurant has remained competitive with other Houston upper moderate restaurant offerings for as long as it has been open; perhaps it is just not to my taste.
The Happy Hour food offerings are at least as good as the dinner fare. I recommend the Happy Hour--it is fairly priced and a good value.
Wonderful as usual
Get rid of the jazz players outside. Please. Make it soft French music or French music vocals. It would be so much more enjoyable on a lovely evening. Please. Too harsh, and not in sync with Toulouse as it relates to these loud Jazz players and band. It’s too harsh and too uncomfortable.
Fantastic place, food, atmosphere and service. The only issue was that we were not informed on the price on the recommendations and, not surprisingly, turned up been really high.
We at Toulouse for an event and we had about 10 people and the service really didn’t care. Every time we would ask a question he would roll his eyes like he had something better to do than be our server. He was also very slow. He left us without refills for a while and my group was always having to ask different severs for things because he was no where to be found. Upon asking if we could have something else to drink besides water, he told us the restaurant only carried juices. Then, upon asking a different server, she very nicely informed us that you also carry sodas and other beverages.
Maybe it was just and off day! Overall, great food, good times. Would definitely come back and recommend.
Everything was great the food and the service
The manager Pedro was rude and condescending. He ruined what would have be a joyful night. he was incredible inflexible and showed modest if any hospitality.
We enjoyed everything from the crab cakes appetizer to the onion soup, chicken, and apple tart for dessert. Our server did an excellent and the manager was fantastic.
The beef bourgeois meat was tough but tasty.
The Manager is always at the restaurant. He greets you and makes you feel welcome. This is old fashion customer appreciation and personal service. Best French Food in town!
Service is what sets this restaurant apart. Food is really good, but the service is exceptional.
This is one of my favorite restaurants in Houston, everything about it is just great!! Food is delicious, the place is beautiful and relaxing and they have outdoor seating which is great 'cuz you can enjoy live music. Perfect for dates, girls night out, anniversary, birthdays, and business meetings
Great location and good wine list for a weekend luncheon with Oysters, quiche & Steak Tartare. Pricy, but generally worth it in my opinion. The crowd is well-heeled and on the prowl.
A Parisian brunch experience. Excellent service. Delicious scallops, roasted asparagus, Hollandaise sauce, creamy risotto, rich cheese biscuits with truffle aoli, smooth latte. Complimentary, piping hot, crusty French bread with butter.
Fantastic service, always greeted like an old friend. Food is consistently great. Great location. Also good for people watching!
Great meal and first class service. We really enjoyed our date night!
Todd was an excellent server! Food was delicious!
Overall great experience as usual and was lucky enough to be there the last day of restaurant month.
The food as always was excellent. Great wine list and very comfortable atmosphere.
First time at Toulouse. Great service, food and drinks were delicious. I will be returning.
Beautiful restaurant, very attentive waiters and wonderful food.
We celebrate many occasions here at Toulouse. The menu and cocktail menus have numerous selections for all. We love that they bring us as many French bread as needed while waiting for our dinner. Chic, friendly, and beautiful ambiance for all ages. It’s one of our happy places.
The service and our food was great. The noise level was quite loud. Would definitely go back.
We love this place. Food and service of the highest quality, fascinating people watching with a surprisingly low key atmosphere. Don’t be put off by the high end location or the many “beautiful people” present. That’s half the fun. An afternoon or evening in Paris without the travel.
Went to this restaurant for Houston Restaurant Weeks on a Friday night. The food was good but the restaurant was so noisy that conversation was almost impossible. I would give this restaurant another chance but if the music is so loud again, I don't think I would return.
Been a happy customer since the opening a few years ago, I feel that recently standard is falling down- unfortunately.
Very favorite restaurant- consistently excellent!
Good for happy hour, lunch with friends or romantic dinner.
We visit Toulouse frequently because we live very close. Usually it is excellent. We ate there for restaurant weeks and unfortunately must give a poor rating, mainly due to the service. We ordered the chocolate souffle for dessert (and it was excellent!). We knew it would take a long time, so we ordered it at the very beginning when we ordered everything else. Our soup came out a short while later and it, too, was excellent. There was quite a long wait (around 25 - 30 minutes) for our main course which was boeuf bourguignon. Since this dish takes hours to create, I can assure you that it had already been prepared well ahead of time. We really couldn't understand why it took so long to receive, but it eventually appeared and again, it was very good. However, after waiting another 20 minutes after finishing the main dish we were told that "it takes the souffles" 40 minutes to cook and that it would be a while longer. Finally, about 30 minutes after we finished our main course, the souffles arrived. The restaurant comp'ed us both a drink and removed the surcharge for the souffles. I still don't understand why we had to wait for our desserts. We KNEW that it would take 40 - 45 minutes for the souffles - that's why we ordered them at the beginning. They had over an hour from the time we ordered until the time we finished our main dishes.
I realize this is NOT typical service for this restaurant, but obviously there were major problems in the kitchen. When it became obvious to the staff that it was going to be an unacceptably long length of time before we could get our desserts (and I think they were aware of this long before we were), they should have informed us and given us the option of a different, more available dessert.
This experience won't keep us from giving them another chance, but we are not the type of people to let things like this be swept aside.
Outstanding food, excellent waitstaff. We visited for HRW and absolutely loved it our only minor complaint is as the restaurant filled up the noise level got really loud and it was hard to have dinner conversation. Overall a fantastic experience
Toulouse is a great French bistro food and ambiance
The food doesn't taste authentic French, the beef are over cook and doesn't worth.
Really enjoyed our dinner with the Restaurant Week menu. Very good service. Only complaint was it was very noisy.
Went for HRW. The dishes were great and service very attentive. We especially loved the soufflé! Well worth the up charge! Delicious!
The best!!! The food is amazing!!!
We came for resturant weeks. Good value but the food was ok - not great. We had beef bourgeois and salmon. Salmon was really good the beef was just ok. Generous helping but the beef was chewy with gristle. Desserts were great. Noise level in the main dining room is very high so would recommend sitting in the front part of the resturant for more comfortable noise level.
The food was good, but not spectacular. Although, there were some dishes that were excellent (the risotto comes to mind). Our waiter was friendly, but there were others on staff that were a lot less amiable. There was a large assortment of dishes which was nice compared to some other restaurants in Houston
