Toulouse - Domain NORTHSIDE

This is by far the most delicious place I’ve eaten while in Austin. The mussels, the beef tartar, the Brussel sprouts, the duck and the souffle desserts were beyond compare. This was truly the best part of our trip to Texas. From the warm greeting at the front door to the wait staff and the Manager, it was magical and delicious! Please visit this wonderful restaurant, they will become your family. They are beautiful people wanting to bring you a delicious experience. I would eat here every night❤️
Celebrated my last 3 birthdays here, awesome staff ,great food ,met some nice people from Waco who were visiting the Domain Toulouse for the 1st time they love it,what's not to love.We will definitely be back.
A delightful 'find' in the Domain. The food is carefully prepared and presented, and the ambience of the whole place exudes a certain classiness. Our waitress, whose name I forget :( but who studies English and Comparative Lit. at UT :) was exactly what a waitperson should be; attentive, cheery and charming. Give her a bonus!
It's not really a negative, but it ain't a cheap choice of restaurant, for sure!
Remains one of our favorite Austin restaurants. Tables are separated by a reasonable distance, it's generally not noisy, and the service and food are great.
Went to Toulouse for birthday dinner for my son. Had reservations made earlier in the week. Wasn't thrilled they put us back near the kitchen. But service was great. Escargots were delicious. We especially loved the charcuterie plate! 3 of 4 of us ordered the filet oscar. It was fine, but nothing world shaking. Best part was they were doing 1/2 price wine bottles! All in all a good dining experience.
Fabulous food, affordable and solid wine list with some nice Pinot Noirs. Busy day, but good service and nice classical music in the background. If you sit at the bar, you can actually watch a sports game too. We keep coming back!
This was our first time dining at Toulouse and we were rather disappointed. The server was friendly enough, but seemed to know very little about the food and ignored any questions she didn’t know the answer to. I would recommend caution for any gluten intolerant diners here. Some of the items on the menu were marked as gluten free, but then were confirmed by the kitchen to contain gluten, and no accommodations were made (i.e. we asked if the crab dip could be done gluten free, and while they didn’t add the breadcrumbs on top, they also didn’t have anything that I could eat it with, even though I asked if there was before ordering). The entrees were fairly mediocre (poorly seasoned and mine was lukewarm by the time they had finished deboning the fish tableside) and very expensive for the quality of what we received. We skipped dessert, and wouldn’t dine here again.
Not sure what’s happening there but it changed! That restaurant had a lot of people before but this is my 3rd time where I’m walking into an empty restaurant. Why is that? Definitely service was not how it was, food-did have one bad experience but that was it and food is still good. Definitely level of service is what bothers me the most. I’m not saying they are not polite but not trained enough. It’s just not the same anymore. Such a shame!
We had a large group, and though the restaurant was empty they had not gotten our table together. Most places in Austin have drink specials for brunch. Theirs were not great, but that was not a problem. We had to ask multiple times for bread. They took 45 minutes to take our food order. When the food came everyone's food was so bland we had to add Chalula to it to eat it. I thought a New Orleans style restaurant would have flavor, but this was not the case. The service throughout our meal was not great, but the real problem came when they would not do separate checks for a party of 13. We spent 20 minutes trying to split up the bill. I finally had to ask a manager if he could just charge each person for what they ordered. I realize the math should not have been complicated, but with a group that large people get confused on what they owe. The manager was no help and I couldn't even get him to come to the table. The server was argumentative and whole experience was just bad. We will never be back. On the plus side the host was lovely.
The service was great .
The waiter was very sweet and very professional.
We had a great family time . I think her name was Miranda .
The only thing the gratin dauphinois was not cooked very well but all others food that we eat was delicious and very taste .
We really liked .
Thank you and we will be back .
Enjoyed the Toulouse experience with a group of co-workers. The menu was great and the food was excellent. Everyone enjoyed the overall experience. The best part of the meal was our excellent waiter. Unfortunately I do not remember his name but perhaps you can cross-reference with my reservation. If there was any one critique it would be that in my case the crab cakes were not extremely hot and a bit too much breading. Otherwise I believe we all enjoyed the appetizers and entrees.
Great service and particular shout out to Ever, the maitre d for his special attention.
Great. The dessert was the best!!!
Food was meh for the price
Authenic French cuisine. Transports my tastebuds back to Paris every time we visit. 5 stars, 2 thumbs up, 10/10. Toulouse wins for being fabulous in every way.
Lovely patio makes excellent people watching. Service is friendly and welcoming. Food is tasty with generous portions.
Lovely Sunday lunch on what they refer to as outside. Its a covered open air space. Portions are small, food is good. A bit expensive, but enjoyed it.
Great service and food!
Wonderful atmosphere, incredible flavors, and truly friendly staff. It was amazing watching the waiter de-bone the Dover Sole table-side. A great experience - we will definitely be back for more.
Lunch meeting with a friend / colleague . Ahi tuna tower with pineapple ? No . Brie shared appetizer was lush
I alerted the staff via opentable about my food allergies, table preference & server personality that I prefer...all was taken care of to the last detail.
Our table of 7 experienced a wonderful birthday dinner for our friend. Our server was amazing and the food and drinks were excellent.
Always excellent cuisine and service. The atmosphere is perfect - just like a cafe in Paris!
A pleasant and authentic type experience for us a little pricey but that might be part of the authentic French ....didn’t “get” the salmon with sauerkraut and sausage dinner, but maybe originating from a Franco German area, but a little strange here in Austin, otherwise enjoyed the evening
I didn’t like the Duck Confit I had for brunch. Very fatty. Beniets were amazing though and the staff was so kind!!
Terrible service, food was cold, noise/music loud.
Best service of my life from Andres. This man is a true professional who went the extra mile to make my wife’s birthday extra special. As a restaurant manager myself, I have half a mind to try and steal him for myself, but y’all would be out of your minds to let him go!
We were looking for a relax and cozy place to have dinner and the ambient was good but the service we got was not great. While we waited for a table other people were seated before us and the waiter was not very friendly with us. He only dropped our drinks and checked on us twice. Not sure I can give this place a second chance!
Overall, a very pleasant experience. Food was great, service was near impeccable and the decor was very nice. If I was picking at anything it would be the music played to loudly. Some French music mixed in maybe? Go, you’ll like it. I hope to return soon.
Charming restaurant that made you feel as though you were dining in France. I ordered the Toulouse trio and the sandwich was delicious and the lobster bisque was amazing!! There were chunks of lobster in the soup! I will definitely be back to try more items on the menu!
Overall a very pleasant experience. Food was good, winelist varied and our server was attentive but not hovering. We will be back.
Had a very enjoyable meal at Toulouse. Food an service were excellent. The restaurant is a bit loud, so it is hard to have a conversation, especially at a larger table. But, it was a Friday evening and it as busy, so it is understandable. We will return.
The food was good, but both entrees came out cold. Even my cappuccino was cold and had to send it back.
The dining scene in Austin is becoming grow up. Toulouse is great intro to the French Culinary experience. The service was impeccable. The food exquisite. Everything you would expect from a 5 Star rated restaurant. Special mention for the excellent wine list.
We had a fabulous meal at Toulouse. The escargot were wonderful and so was the French onion soup. I had the duck confit which was crispy and delicious without any hint of greasiness. One of us ordered the sole and she was extremely happy with it, while another had the filet with peppercorns and was similarly very pleased. We shared an order of the brussel sprouts and they were the best iteration of that dish we have had; the sprouts were truly crispy and the bacon did not overwhelm. To top it off, the drink menu and wine selections were first rate as well. In the car on the way home we were excitedly wondering which of the entrees to try on our next visit.
Absolutely wonderful. The ambience was so Parisian! The food, just like in France was a work of art. Our waiter was so knowledgeable, friendly and was able to execute the perfect wine service! Loved it, can't wait to go back!!!
We had a large group of family in town staying near the Domain, so I was looking for a nice place, not too loud, for dinner for six. Toulouse looked promising at the outset. It was pretty, had great ambiance and not too noisy. The service was very slow. Most of my table-mates had steaks and were satisfied with their dinners. I mistakenly ordered the roast chicken--thinking it would be great, because it's typically a specialty of French restaurants--and it was horrible. The outside edges were so dry and tough that I could barely eat it, which I noticed on the first bite. If it had just been me and my husband, I definitely would have sent it back, but there's always a lot of awkwardness to doing that with a large group. so I decided to make the best of it. I did not mention it to the waiter, because no point in doing so if I'm not going to let him do anything about it, right? The plate was covered in a bland, watery butter sauce that dripped all over my clothes and did nothing for the sauteed spinach on the plate. All together, very forgettable for over $400.
Yes, but I wish they'd turn the music down. It was too loud.
The service was excellent and the food was really good.
I have eaten here several times. This time the food came to the table warm not hot, sauce was broken, shrimp were slightly over cooked, mussels were a little off, espresso came without sugar, cake was too floury. All minor things but I expected better. It was still enjoyable but they didn’t nail it this time.
