Which is what we were doing. They had drinks and a happy hour plate and we stayed for an additional happy hour salad and coffee. The service is excellent and the food is very good. The location even has free parking after 5 pm which is great in this neighborhood. We stop there often.
A friend recommended the site from an old rendezvous. It was all that she remembered. Quiet with a special feeling. The best part...outstanding Italian food (Touche?) and wonderful service. I have not felt so welcome.
And best of all...it does not break the bank. Extremely reasonable.
Our waitress was outstanding. Comfortable, "old Portland"ambiance with an Italian flair. Food was good and drinks:/wine by the glass were great. We will definitely be back.
Great margarita's. No bottled mixes used. Only fresh lime and orange juices used.
The service needed some improvements but the food was delicious. We will return to hopefully get better service and to enjoy the food!
Will be back. Great find, wonderful food and prices. The portions are just right!
A very solid and reliable restaurant. Nothing trendy; nothing cutting edge; no 2-hour waits like some of the hot spots in town that don't take reservations. Obviously Touche takes reservations (or you wouldn't be reading this).
For a nice reliable and consistent dinner with attentive service I enjoyed Touche. I had not been here before, but used Portland Dining month as my reason to finally come here.
One very pleasant and welcome surprise is that they carry a nice selection of reasonably-priced wines such as the Barbara d'Asti we ordered and which perfectly complimented our dinner.
I also appreciate that fact that the ambient sound level is controlled - no warehouse-style architecture to accentuate the decibel levels in the name of "an energetic" (aka deafening) environment).
A teriffic find! My wife and I first enjoyed Touche on Valentine's Day 2013, and had a memorable evening of great food, wine and teriffic conversation. We just recently revisited and found the evening just as memorable. It's comfortable, casual and definately has an mid to upscale feel about it when you walk through the door. Great wait staff as well, although serving service can be somewhat hampered by a crowded restaurant. If you go on a Friday or Saturday night, plan on a little extra time.
Prawns were ok. I was disappointed in my filet mignon dish. There a strange (not in a good way) orange/red sauce woth what seemed to be canned mushrooms over the top of the filet. I couldn't quite figure it out. Usually a filet can speak for itself but apparently this one needed canned mushrooms and a not so great sauce. The mashed potatoes were just that. I dont think there was anything added AT ALL to them. And the green beans tasted like they were simple sauteed in butter. Sorry, but for me that dish is not worth 26$. I didnt even finish over the next couple of days. Usually I lick the plate when it comes to filet mignon.
Our server, Thomas, was attentive, helpful and fun. We also appreciated that the restaurant, though busy, was not noisy. The food was outstandingly delicious and attractively presented. I have never had such tender and tasty steak, even from places known as steak houses. The other entrees were equally superb. We all agreed we had an A+ dining experience at Touche, and will be back! Thanks so much.
Touched is a favorite for their wonderful staff, warm ambiance, good food and reasonable price.
I have family in town this last weekend and we had such a nice time and Hillary was awesome and the food, wine and dessert was over the top.
Great place to gather with long lost friends. Food was delicious and portions were substantial and they had plenty of GF choices. Loved the laid back sophisticated cool vibe of the dining room.
We were looking through the Passport Dining list for a place on the west side. We had never heard of Touche, but thought we would give it a try. We were pleasantly surprised with the whole experience. We will be back.
Touché has been through a lot of changes in its many years on NW Glisan on the edge of the 405 freeway. it now has a solid italian menu, if nothing tremendously out of the ordinary, it is good, solid food. the decor has been re-done downstairs and is nice of it bit corporate sterile - reminded me a bit of macaroni grille sans the fire pit. it's also known for it's bar, and especially it's upstairs bar scene with pool tables and such at night. for those who want a decent italian restaurant with some make-your-own-fun upstairs, this is the place.
Touche seems to have it all, great food, service, ambiance. The one thing I would like to see improved upon is the selection of vegetarian/vegan selections and more Italian offerings. Otherwise, quite good.
If you're a tiramisu fan, you've got to try it here! Light and airy, with lots of creamy goodness. Haven't tried Happy Hour yet, but their menu looks great. Manicotti excellent, definitely recommend it. Love the décor in the dining room.
Food wasn't that great, honestly just run on the mill. The service was fine, but our waitress was a little chilly at first, seemed like she didn't want to be at work.
Made a reservation for my organization group. Received confirmation via email. When I arrived with my group, they did not know anything about the reservation. Since they didn't set up a table, they referred us to their upstairs billiard room where the bar tender could take care of our group. He did the best job he could. I found the for fair and slightly overpriced. I would not return nor recommend.
I came for my Birthday and I really enjoed myself everyone in my party really liked the place
The atomosphere was nice, and the food was great. Service was a little lacking as they had 1 waitress who served as bartender and waitress. Otherwise --fun and good.
We have never been here before and online it looked amazing! However, when you pull up, the first impression is are we at the right spot? Looks kind of looked like a dive. Walking in we were surprised on how cute it really was. I love the lighting! The private booth is not so private however. It is placed right next to the kitchen. Luckily we were there when it was not busy. The food was nothing to write home about. I would not recommend this place based on the food. Also, we sat there for over a half hour before someone even took our food order and the only reason he did is because we stopped him from walking away. Over all I would say I was disappointed.
First time dining here, on a first date nonetheless. Couldn't be happier with the food and service (given vegan food she needed). Food was great and was surprised about the fire pit and patio which we enjoyed for a while.
Not to much to say, here. A nice place, but the food was just average. Nice place to take the family. Kids had fun.
Convenient location with parking, excellent service, unique menu, cocktails, and the food was amazing! We will frequent Touche and bring friends.
The service was amazing, made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. And when we asked about something not on the menu they made sure we had it. Love that the pizza and calzones are cooked in a fire brick oven. Defenetly plan on going again.
It took a little while before we were attended to for a group of 10. The waitress was really nice but mentioned that she was the only one there and that you operate with a skeleton crew. She did her very best. Overall good portions and good quality.
Our main complaint was the behavior of the one waitress that was present. She was quite informal, telling us from the opposite end of the bar to "seat yourself wherever you'd like." The overly inform behavior continued. We expected a more "refined" environment. The food was good with a couple exceptions. The rice was clumped and hard; apparently not re-hydrated appropriately. The tiramisu was sub-par. Beer and wine selection was good.
This was my third time doing Portland dining month. The food at Touché was great! It was hard to decide which menu to order from. Plus I ended up taking food home! Normally I get smaller servings but wow so much good food! I know this place will fit my budget during the rest of the year. Plus they were VERY accommodating to the baby in our group :)
The food was great and service was great, but they have a bar on the upper floor, so I suggest a table at the back of the restaurant.
The food was adequate but not memorable and the service was poor for a nearly empty restaurant. I would not be surprised to see this space vacant or with a different name in the future.
I was pleasantly surprised. I didn't expect the food to be as good as it was (but can we stop serving kale please?), or the location to be as interesting as it was. We had an early Sunday reservation, so the restaurant was quiet when we got there. The bar tender knew how to make my Negroni perfectly, and my pork chop was not only huge but perfectly cooked. Had the prawns as an appetizer, and tiramisu for dessert with delicious coffee. It's a quiet spot, nicely but not overly decorated. When we left 90 minutes later, it was packed with diners and yet the noise level was perfect for conversation. Only complaints? I had to ask for fresh pepper, and my companion for a spoon.
Four of us ate there as part of Portland $29 dining month. Three had the pork chop and I the pesto chicken pasta. It was all very delicious! My husband was pleasantly surprised by the wine reduction on the chop. The beet salad was wonderful and had lots of beets with the greens. We really enjoyed our time there and would return to try things from the full menu.
My wife and I came to Touche for our 15th wedding anniversary. I had reservations in advance and asked for a good table. When we got there, we were personally greeted and congratulated. Then we were taken to a table that was marked reserved. It was a nice, quiet spot that was away from everything else. The food was outstanding! The ambiance was perfect. Hillary was our server and she was the cherry on top; she was very kind, and her timing was perfect. She made our great experience better. I will definitely be recommending this restaurant. 5 stars!
We picked the restaurant as one we hadn't visited before to take advantage of the 3-course dinner presentation for Portland Dining Month. The options were good and we each chose a different meal. It was a solid experience with no noticeable shortcomings. Solid presentation, well prepared, served in a reasonable time, by cordial staff, in a pleasing atmosphere. While we didn't come away with anything to say Ooh! or Ahh! about, it was a pleasure to not be saying anything but good things about our experience. These days, that can be a prize in itself.
Well, I have to say that we were enticed to this Pearl District gem by a PDX dining discount for March. You got 3 courses for $29 pp. I have to say "Totally WORTH it" Fantastic service, excellent bar choices and food..well... the food freakin' ROCKED!..Every single item we saw coming out of that great open kitchen with a wood fired oven looked and smelled tremendous. We had a brilliant spinach salad with a hefty amount of prosciutto, Appetizer of prawns with mushrooms, garlic and marsala wine sauce(OMG!) and a PERFECTLY seared and prepared pork . Finished off with an apple turnover out of the wood fired heaven maker. We cannot wait to go back! 5 stars- Thank you Touche, your wait staff, bartender and kitchen crew are AWESOME!
Exquisite Food. Staff was very personable -- made us feel very comfortable as first-timers. Definitely recommend Touche!
Overall, the food was pretty good, a little old school (i.e. really heavy pasta dishes) but the service was awful. There was one girl running the entire bar and restaurant so everything took forever. She was clearly doing her best but one server, come on....This seems like the kind of place you would go to if you a) lived close by and b) didn't want to cook.
The bartender made us some unique and extra delicious custom drinks! The homemade Infused flavored liquors are amazing. tell him what you like and he will surprise you with a n amazing cocktail! Friendly efficient staff.
Stopped by Touche for an early supper, the restaurant was quiet, the service very good. My dinner choice was the salmon and my wife ordered the house made manicotti. Both were good and we would recommend Touche!
They were under the Mediterranean category but mainly had Italian choices. Food good, if not in Portland probably would have been 4 star, but compared to other local places, just below average for taste/flavor. The restaurant was not very busy and my water glass sat empty several times. For the price, I'll choose somewhere else next time.
