Totoyama Sushi & Ramen
The fish here is the best!
Waited for 20-min passed the reservation time.
Hostess was rude and would not look at us when she did talk to us.
Had to walk away after that...
The food was delicious and fresh! We enjoyed eating here before seeing a show at the Pantages... very convenient!
Excellent service and great sushi and ramen!!
I was mostly very disappointed on their servers service. She wasn't very attentive.
We had miso soups to start with but entree comes with miso too. How come she didn't mention about it it. So we had double orders of very lukewarm miso soups that I couldn't even finish the first one.
The entree was just ok. I was very thirsty they may use MSG in their food. i am not complaining about it, because it was my fault I forgot to ask about it.
However, I drink lots of water, even my friends water to get over with my thist and we all had empty glasses but our server never came around asking If we were ok or need anything. Also, my friend needed a fork so we had to catch someone else bring it.
Only thing I was happy is that Sushi. It was the best, the ginger is so fresh too.
I am always 20 to 30% tiper and at this time I have left 25% on total cost which including tax, only because I didn't had any smaller change.
Felt rushed/ignored while other tables were greeted with smiles. Food was fine. On the small side for the sushi and way to big/poorly executed for the kitchen dishes.
Good value. Close to the Fonda before a concert. Accommodating for large groups.
Amazing sushi and amazing staff! Bluefin tuna sampler is to die for.
Only problem is that it's hard to read the menu due to the light and the white on black.
Service was bad and waitress very unfriendly. Food was fair but overpriced
Sneaky Host cancelled our Open Table reservation and told us we had to vacate the table in one (1) hour
The waitress only came by to take our order & drop off our food. We did not get water refills or even the bill! We had to walk up to the Host to pay the bill.
The water had gunk inside the cup. Gross! I ordered the Vegetarian Ramen. It was the worst. It tasted like canned minestrone soup with undercooked noodles and was lukewarm. If you have eaten Ramen before you know the noodles never clump together and the dish is served hot.
Avoid this place
Food was good but service was SO slow! 1 hour from sitting down for my husband to get his meal. I got different pieces of sushi, so they came out as they were ready. Kind of ridiculous, especially since we had told the server that we had theatre tickets, and had given ourselves 90 minutes for dinner.
The quality of the sashimi was top notch, and served beautifully.
Our experience was really good! The service was friendly and quick. The food was excellent. We’d go back.
The quality of the fish here is outstanding.
Disappointed in the place. Not worth the price. Our food was prepared incorrectly and when we advised the waiter and the hostess they insisted we ordered it the way they brought it. There was no consideration to correct their mistake. The price was not with the food. Sorry, won’t go there again.
Great traditional Japanese food! Love it!
Out new favorite Japanese restaurant in Hollywood. All of the sushi we tried, both nigiri and roll were excellent
Lightning fast service right before a Pantages show proves that the staff were on their game. Had the California Crunch Roll which was delicious as well as the mixed tempura. Food was on our table less than ten minutes after ordering! Highly recommend you make a reservation in advance to secure a table, especially from 5pm on. Would return in a heartbeat, in particular to try the ramen bowl the next time!
A bit loud, but the food makes it worthwhile. I wish they would rewrite their menu. The print is way too small.
We were very upset this time!! We have been coming to this restaurant almost every time we attended a Pantages play (we have season tickets) and we even introduced our granddaughters to this restaurant. However, last Saturday night we had a very different experience. I booked a reservation on open table and it indicated that our reservation was for 2 people and wouldn’t let me change the number to 4. I wrote in the comments that we wanted a table for 4 and no one contacted us saying we couldn’t have it. We arrived and were told we only had reserved a table for 2 and the manager said she did not read the comments or she would have called. Eventually they seated us with the condition that we needed to be done by 7:00 because they had another reservation!!! We will think twice about coming back to this restaurant.... it was embarrassing and left a bad taste in our mouths.
Service was terrible. The sushi wasn’t particularly special and completely overpriced. I will never return. I’d have given a zero star if I had the option.
Everything was fresh and delicious. Service was great despite our coming in at the tail end of the theater rush. If your going to Pantages, a great place but go early to enjoy. If not going to the theater. Show up after the crowd leaves at 8pm to have a tasty neighborhood dinner.
We had reservations so that helped as it was busy at our arrival. The entire staff verbally welcomed guests and expressed thanks as people left. That was nice.
My husband ordered ramen and I had one of their avocado salmon bowls and an appetizer. The food was average to above average (B-). I don’t know if they were short staffed but my husband’s ramen came out first and almost 15 minutes later, the appetizer came out. After another 10 minutes where we had to ask where my meal was twice, my bowl finally came out. My husband doesn’t like to eat until everyone’s food has arrived so his bowl had already cooled significantly waiting for my meal. Another minute after, the miso soup and side salad arrived AFTER my meal. I expected that stuff earlier and completely forgot that it came with my meal.
We had a show to go to at the Pantages so we had to eat a little quickly. My husband had his iced tea refilled towards the end of the meal. Although he wasn’t wanting a refill while we waited, we typically get checked on more frequently. The food tasted like most Japanese restaurants. The salmon in my bowl tasted fresh, which was a plus. With slightly more than average tasting food and slow service, we don’t plan on returning there.
Some of the best Sushi I've ever had. Originally thought this place was only for Ramen, but not the case! My husband had the Ramen, and he loved it. I love the atmosphere.. very calming and minimalistic.
Really great sushi. Highly recommend the sashimi specials with fresh fish from Japan!
always a very fine meal; very lucky to have this establishment in the neighborhood
Great place to go before heading to theater! Good food, great atmosphere, good prices!
I was visiting my BFF in LA and we were craving sushi! We were staying just up the road so it was perfect.
We had a wonderful meal before seeing a show at the Pantages. The fish quality was excellent and we enjoyed every dish. Servers were attentive and brought the food out very quickly. Will return again!
Gorgeous food. The maki was so tasty and the ramen so flavoursome. Our waiter seemed rather short and impatient with us and was unwilling to recommend anything or explain what dishes were which was abit disappointing. Apart from that, amazing food.
Food is good. Service is also ok, however we always seemed to be waiting for something or asking two times for things (i.e. water refill, additional sushi).
And it is VERY loud.
Really great quality sushi for a decent price! Servings are a bit small so we had to order double the amount we initially ordered (we had a party of 9 celebrating a birthday). Would definitely come back again though!!
My favorite sushi place!!! I will never stop coming here) best ramen in Hollywood! Just love it👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Ramen was pretty good and sashimi was excellent. Fish was very fresh and top quality. Prices are very reasonable, also. I recommend highly.
We did enjoy the experience there. The food was great and plentiful and hot. Good service. I’m annoyed at the restaurants that charge extra for brown rice and don’t tell you or have it printed on the menu that they do
The service was extremely slow even though we had our drink orders taken by three different servers. Their rolls are small and poorly made, almost every one fell apart when I tried to pick it up. Their spicy tuna tastes like and has the texture of canned tuna.
We go there prior to a Pantages performance and for their gluten free options due to our daughter being gluten free. My only complaint, their rolls are quite small for the $$$ paid.
Lovely place. Amazing food. Great service. Just a shame the place is a little small for all the business which makes it hard to hear your date over all the surrounding parties / restaurant noise. Other than that we have a new sushi place to go and the best one yet:)
I had the combination chicken teriyaki and tempura for dinner. Highly recommended. It's one of the best teriyaki chicken I've tasted. The tempura was lightly battered and crunchy. Loved that it had a mixture of vegetables, not just sweet potato and carrots. Your hand roll was disappointing. I was expecting a temaki not just a rolled sushi that wasn't cut up. Overall good food and experience. But the best part was the restroom ... heated seat with amenities!
