Totoyama Sushi & Ramen
Great place to go before heading to theater! Good food, great atmosphere, good prices!
I was visiting my BFF in LA and we were craving sushi! We were staying just up the road so it was perfect.
We had a wonderful meal before seeing a show at the Pantages. The fish quality was excellent and we enjoyed every dish. Servers were attentive and brought the food out very quickly. Will return again!
Gorgeous food. The maki was so tasty and the ramen so flavoursome. Our waiter seemed rather short and impatient with us and was unwilling to recommend anything or explain what dishes were which was abit disappointing. Apart from that, amazing food.
Food is good. Service is also ok, however we always seemed to be waiting for something or asking two times for things (i.e. water refill, additional sushi).
And it is VERY loud.
Really great quality sushi for a decent price! Servings are a bit small so we had to order double the amount we initially ordered (we had a party of 9 celebrating a birthday). Would definitely come back again though!!
My favorite sushi place!!! I will never stop coming here) best ramen in Hollywood! Just love it👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Ramen was pretty good and sashimi was excellent. Fish was very fresh and top quality. Prices are very reasonable, also. I recommend highly.
We did enjoy the experience there. The food was great and plentiful and hot. Good service. I’m annoyed at the restaurants that charge extra for brown rice and don’t tell you or have it printed on the menu that they do
The service was extremely slow even though we had our drink orders taken by three different servers. Their rolls are small and poorly made, almost every one fell apart when I tried to pick it up. Their spicy tuna tastes like and has the texture of canned tuna.
We go there prior to a Pantages performance and for their gluten free options due to our daughter being gluten free. My only complaint, their rolls are quite small for the $$$ paid.
Lovely place. Amazing food. Great service. Just a shame the place is a little small for all the business which makes it hard to hear your date over all the surrounding parties / restaurant noise. Other than that we have a new sushi place to go and the best one yet:)
I had the combination chicken teriyaki and tempura for dinner. Highly recommended. It's one of the best teriyaki chicken I've tasted. The tempura was lightly battered and crunchy. Loved that it had a mixture of vegetables, not just sweet potato and carrots. Your hand roll was disappointing. I was expecting a temaki not just a rolled sushi that wasn't cut up. Overall good food and experience. But the best part was the restroom ... heated seat with amenities!
Very poor customer service. Would not seat my wife because I was parking, even though my wife was prepared to order for both of us. Ende was extremely rude. The rolls were small, fish was fishy. Rolls were mushy. Ugh.
The sushi was EXCELLENT!! We will definitely be back! Walking distance to the Pantages is perfect.
dinner before catching a show at Pantages
Absolutely delicious sushi and ramen! Super close to the theater and very attentive staff. Definitely a new favorite.
Would not recommend. Server had a cold, slight language barrier, sushi and ramen just ok. The crunchy roll was done a little different and was not good. We sent it back but were still charged for the item. We asked to be credited and our request was refused. We will not be back.
Great dining experience at Totoyama Sushi.
I'm a sushi and ramen affiocionado with Japanese roots. Not overly impressed with Totoyama but would return for its proximity and convenience to the Pantages Theater. I ordered the rainbow and dragon rolls and miso ramen. In my six decade dining experience, sushi portions are about 15 percent smaller than most other restaurants however rice is seasoned nicely and the seafood and veggies are very fresh. I ordered the ramen 'mildly spicy' -- the least spicy of three levels and it was almost too hot for my taste. If you like only a little heat, begin with 'no spice' (since pepper is added anyway) then upgrade to 'mild' if desired. Portions are generous but if you enjoy meat, you may want to consider adding more char siu pork to the standard three slices. Wait staff was efficient and courteous, the restaurant was very clean, and the tiny entry was standing room only. Whenever possible, make reservations. Prices are slightly higher but given the location, expected. I would recommend Totoyama for a casual albeit pricey but convenient after- or before-theater dining.
Very good meal right before the show! Nice service and tasty food.
Can’t go wrong with Totoyama! They have lots of fresh specials of the day to choose from as well!
Very accommodating for going to the show! Park in Argyle garage, take the escolator up to the resturant and the Pantages is right there.
Close to the Pantages theater so it was easy to get to. Service was accommodating, although they had trouble remembering who's order was who's. Food good.
Excellent high quality sushi and very tasty ramen. One of our vaporize sushi restaurants. Great authenticity. Will keep coming back!
Overpriced for what you get. Portions are very small for the price. Paid $200 for 5 people and left hungry still
Service is a bit strange. They charge extra for Ponzu sauce. I have never seen that before.
This place is the single most petty place I’ve been to in all my life! They tell you that you’ve got an hour to eat, won’t substitute a tiny , very small one leaf salad instead of rice but will allow you to exchange it for brown rice for an up charge. Soup was ice cold but service is so bad I didn’t Es t to return it. Teriyaki is way too salty, if you want ponzu sauce there’s a charge. All in all it was a shame. They need someone else in that space near the pantages so theater goers have a different place to go.
Don't order the rolls. Too much rice, not enough substance.
We had a blast!! We were seated quickly and the service was just plain amazing!! Two servers were attentive, despite the fact that the restaurant was quite full when we arrived. We both order ramen with some sushi to share. The food came quickly and both dishes were amazing!! We will definitely come back!
Sushi was like butter - tender and delicious. I just didn’t like how closely the tables are stacked on top of each other. I prefer more space around me so that I’m not eating with the people at the next table.
Loved the experience siting at the bar. The dragon eel roll's presentation was amazing. Loved the food.
We happened upon this sushi restaurant and by all accounts, were happy with our experience. The sushi is fresh and tasty with lots of options including imported Japanese fish. Prices are reasonable too!!
While the service was attentive, there were some errors in the delivery of our orders. In fact, all 3 tables in the alcove space where we were seated had problems as well. Nothing earth shattering (other than they can’t make a cucumber salad without seaweed) and in the end we had a great dinner!
The food was really good. We went for a friend’s birthday so it was 8 of us. They would only split the check in two ways. I had two sushi rolls and a drink for $20. My friends all loved their ramen the only bad part was the waitresses kind of had an attitude and we watched one waitress spill soup on a guys leather jacket and keep walking.
We had tickets to watch a musical at the Pantages & this restaurant is conveniently located down the street. We had their sushi and tempura udon. Everything was of good quality and tasty.
just great all around, the chef is amazing and they have ultra quality fishes and japanese specialties such as Ankimo.
Very good sushi, super convenient before Pantages show.
We ate here before watching a show at the Pantages. Location is very convenient. It’s quite small and gets filled quickly during dinner time, so glad we made a reservation. We ordered different sushi from dragon roll to unagi to soft shell carb. We also had the tempura with udon noodle soup. Everything was fresh and delicious.
Great food, service and location!
Good food nice people
