Toscanova - Calabasas Ratings and Reviews
Toscanova is usually a fun place. Their pizzas are always delicious, and I ordered the one with Proscuito. Unfortunately the Branzino was tasteless. Two of us ordered it. But the Caesar salad was good as was the chicken dish we ordered. All and all, it was lovely on the patio, far less noisy than inside. We had a nice evening!
I hadn’t been there in many many months due to the fact that I wasn’t happy with the service of the manager. I just felt it was time for me to go back and give it a try. It sure felt good to be back! The food was incredible especially the lasagna! I could eat it every day!
Everything was nice. The food was excellent. We split the arugula salad 3 ways and there was plenty. Then we each had a pasta and we were full. The price was not bad. We took a friend from SF and she was impressed. Not bad for the suburbs. There was still a decent crowd at 10:00 pm when we left although it was a Saturday night
I have a bit of an issue. Kennedy called to reconfirmed our reservation and said that she would let our waiter know about our birthday.
The waiter was also serving a table of 16 people and really didn't have the time to devote to us. He had a serving partner that only brought us water once. Your other staff were excellent. The challenge is we came there for a birthday and no one honored our request.
Poor execution with the best of intentions is still poor execution.
We were seated at the time of our reservation and sat outside. We had excellent service, we brought our own wine which they gladly opened for us with a reasonable corkage charge. There were five of us and all our dinners came out as ordered. The pollo Milanese was delicious and love the salad on top and the chicken was thin and crispy. Also, the white fish 🐟 and the chicken Marsala were a hit as well!
Toscanova is consistently great in every way...delicious food, smart and responsive servers and very well managed! We go often. It is always a place to enjoy food, drinks and conversation. It has the "x factor" we look for in a place we want to return to over and over. The atmosphere is both intimate and festive at the same time. Love it here!
We are frequent diners at Toscanova and this time was very disappointing. Crab entree had little or no crab but cutup old shrimp. Sauce was quite greasy. Waiter was apologetic and said chef would fix it. Came out with a bowl of cutup shrimp again and greasy sauce. Sent it back again. Special salad sounded great but was big disappointment. Linguini and clams were excellent however. Coffee was good but desserts were not freshly made. Cheesecake was old.
My first time here. My chicken was so overcooked and dry I requested a steak knife to cut. Even that didn't help. Coffee was cold and waited at least 5 minutes for someone to come by the table. Service was inattentive. Sorry but not very good and I really wanted to like this restaurant.
We sat there for good 15-20 min and no one came to us until we asked for service. The waiter who was suppose to come to us went to another table to help people who came after much after us.
The manager came, apologized send us a quick service but nothing else. Some time the give you a drink or dessert as a way of saying sorry... nada...
We come here often and they know us.
Very disappointing !!!
We randomly passed by the previous night and the place looked amazing with outdoor seating as well as a nice bar. The menu looked so genuinely Italian (as I am) and perfect for our Sat. nite date. We were so so disappointed. I had a reservation but was seated at a teeny table that was in the middle of the patio and so close to other tables that the waiter literally couldn't squeeze between. So he served and spoke to us at the same time. He was pleassant and unattentive, but clearly tired hot and seemed bored. It took FOREVER to get our entrees and our bill as well. We might have eaten dessert or hung out a while if we had a better table. The food was small for the price, charged a lot for subbstitutions and lacked simple condiments (like grated cheese, salt, pepper). I am willing to try again because I think it was just a bad night and I'd kill for great authentic Italian food in CA.
Poor and neglectful service; cheese appetizer came without toast/bread; waited 1 hour for 2 pastas and a sea bass; told waiter that if the food didn't come in the next bit of time, we are leaving. Miraculously the food arrived. Sea bass was filled with oil and unedible; sent it back. Pastas were ok. Not returning - ever!
