Toscana Ristorante Italiano Ratings and Reviews
Our group of seven ate here on a Saturday night. We were seated on time. We had a great waitress who made honest recommendations from the menu and the list of specials. We brought wine but it was handled well, being opened at the table with fresh, nice glasses with each bottle. The bruschetta and the calamari were great pre-dinner choices to share at the table. Most of the people at our table chose pastas--the ravioli, positano, buttera, carbonara, and a pasta special--and all were delicious and prepared well. The remaining two choice entree specials which were also well prepared. We all had dessert, and all were delicious. We will be back.
Not my first trip to Toscana. Food is always good and the service is excellent. Wine list is adequate, but overpriced. Portions a little on the smallish side. If you are a hearty eater, have an appetizer and/or a salad. Otherwise, you'll be hungry again in an hour.
We had a large group. We came around 11:45, ordered around Noon, got our food at 12:45. No one checked on us for quite some time so we sat with empty plates for a while and then we were not offered dessert. We had ordered a to-go meal to be placed in the kitchen when we ordered dessert. The waiter completely forgot about the order since we did not have time for dessert so we had to search him out to ask about the to-go meal. We had to wait again for the order to be made.
I have been before and loved everything about the experience. Maybe large groups are more difficult for your staff...
We were here as a group, and service was terrible. It took 3 hours for the meal. Waiter would get the drink order, and bring the drinks 20 mins later. Our group was 12 people so not too big. Overall the meal took the entire night. Food was good but it took forever to get there.
This was a business meal, and several people suggested we not come back to this place.
Second time to this restaurant-again, one of the first places I went to when moving to the area. The place is small and intimate, but the noise level is high, so can be difficult to have a conversation. Our first experience was very good, and this was our second visit in about two years. Made a reservation, and based on the time available, I was really expecting a full restaurant, but when we arrived, there were certainly plenty of tables. The first person who came to our table was great, but when it came time to order drinks/wine and food we had a different server, not so great—seemed pompous.
My meal was very good—Caesar Salad and then had the Spaghetti Carbonara. My dining companion went with the Rock Shrimp Risotto. The Risotto was good and the arborio rice was cooked well, but they did a poor job of preparing the shrimp. My taste, very first bite, I had shells on the shrimp, and my dining companion had several bites that contained shells—not good. At first we brought it up to our server, who was somewhat unresponsive, not sure if he just didn’t know how to handle the situation. Eventually asked for a manger, who at first wasn’t helpful—I told him we will pay for meal but tell their chef about the shells. He did apologize, not charge us and gave us a piece of tiramisu with two forks — wow, but that was never the point. For the price, they need to make sure every dish they serve is prepared correctly. Three stars for the experience and price. Not sure if I would rush back to Toscana too fast.
Selection is limited, and flavor was slightly better than mediocre. Noise level was rather loud, which made conversation difficult. Space is tight and they would benefit from enclosing the outside seating during cold and hot weather and adjust it with heaters or fans, otherwise, it’s just wasted space.
