So far, it is my favorite Italian Restaurant in DC. Appetizer plating are outstanding. Pastas are incredible. Desserts are to die for.

From the start it was a terrible experience. They want to be a fine dining spot but lack the quality to execute. Wait staff was more worried about the number of tables they could turn over. Never presented with specials or recommendations. Just what do you want. The food was absolutely bland and tasteless. Ran out of pasta which is interesting for an Italian restaurant. I don’t mind spending money for a quality meal but this place was far from it. Only went here bc of the recommendations from open table but soon realized how wrong it was. The only people who enjoy this place are local guides that get paid to provide their recommendations. Overall do not go here.

Great food and attentive service from Angela. All four had arugula and parmigiana cheese salad with lemon dressing — and it was fantastic. Garganelli and Mezzeluna pastas were superb, as was recommended Jermann 2016 Pinot Grigio. Very enjoyable and productive meal.

Valentines Day menu was exceptionally overpriced, we had 4 courses over a 2.5 hour time period. The food was alright, but for $105 before tip & tax, I was expecting better.

We arrived early for a pre-theater dinner. We may have been the first dinner patrons that night, many other guests arrived later. The service is top notch and the food is excellent. We could easily hear our conversation. The pre-theater dinner menu is an outstanding value. This is not the place for an inexpensive night out unless you order the three-course pre-theater dinner. You will still pay nearly $20 for a cocktail, but everything we had was wonderful (prosciutto, ravioli mezzaluna and the tiramisu). Certainly a nice place for special occasions or business dinners.

Not sure I marked the question of noise correctly. Tosca is wonderfully quiet in addition to everything else. Look forward to a return visit.

I was really expecting this to be a lot better than what it was. I took my girlfriend there for her b'day and regret the whole thing. The restaurant was pretty open for seating and sat us in the worst possible spot with people constantly walking by us and the staff standing next to us having conversations. Kept getting dirty looks from staff members. Asked them to do something for my girlfriend since it was her b'day and they brought out the dessert and just left it on the table when the table next to us had the staff at least sing for them. Service was horrible in my honest opinion. Will never go back there.

Our most recent Tosca experience was a very satisfying Anniversary celebration dinner. We each had an appetizer to start, shared a pasta dish for the second course, shared an entree for the next course, and shared a dessert to conclude. (We're definitely sharers.). Everything was delicious especially the sunchoke soup and the branzino. Only the Veneto salad failed to rise to the level of excellence of the rest of the meal.

Wonderful meal. Short rib ravioli was the highlight! The waiter could’ve been a LITTLE more knowledgeable about the wines...I asked for a “heavy red” and was pointed to an expensive thin near-Pinot Noir. I’ll just get a Cab next time and play it safe. Other than that, we loved it and will return.

Tosca is a dream restaurant. It must be one of the most consistent dining spots in town. The menu is well selected, the staff is always gracious, and the ambiance is conducive to conversation. It is good for special occasions and romantic dinners; or just if you want to treat yourself well. The menu options currently offered wonderful fish, but also wintry meat options. We enjoyed them both.

Alas, it seems that Tosca is not what it was under its former chefs. To judge from a Restaurant Week meal (even the old run-of-the-menu offer has vanished), such is the case. A first course of scallops offered scallops that were just OK: not seared quite enough but sill a bit tough and, worse, the supposed sophisticated sauce hardly existed and has scant taste. The main course was downhill from there: fettuccine that, despite multiple ingredients, would have benefitted from Mies's quip, Less is More. Here, it was a subpar concoction with no discernible tastes of interest.

We went to Tosca during restaurant week, which means it was a bargain and probably somewhat below their normal standards. First, service is delightful. Our server was funny, helpful, and very on top of things despite a super-busy night. We were never rushed, and the people next to us sat conversing for an hour over coffee. The wine list is excellent, with a range of prices. Lots of great Italian wines, obviously, but California as well. For appetizers, I can highly recommend the scallops or the tuna tartare. My entree was the only disappointment, a lobster risotto where the tomato sauce pretty much obliterated the taste of the lobster. The chocolate cremoso dessert is spectacularly good - a "must order" item. We'll probably come back during a non-restaurant week, although the non-restaurant week prices are relatively expensive across the board.

Amazing place. Went there for Restaurant Week. Food was excellent. Definiteky worth every penny. What I loved as much as the food was the great service. Very cordial and wow so dedicated to every table. Some places win’t treat you the same if yoh come in with an offer or bit oaying full price.

Another wonderful meal at Tosca. I know why Tosca is perpetually popular among locals and visitors: they serve excellent, authentic Italian with a modern twist, in a chic and quiet atmosphere with superb service. A great meal, impeccable service, well worth the price. We will be back the next time we're staying in DC. Thank you one and all for the nice evening with friends!

Still the best Italian restaurant in the Washington Metro! The Radicchio Salad with Pears and Gorgonzola was truely amazing. The Braised Short Rib Ravioli were excellent. The Chestnut Panna Cotta was yum! Frankly, I can't imagine there is anything less than excellent on the menu.
