Tosca Ristorante Ratings and Reviews
We went for restaurant week. We had a larger group of people consisting of 5 adults and 2 kids. The food was very very good for the main entrees, however they were small portions. My wife got the Hamachi and while it did taste good there was very little to taste. I ordered the half order of black linguini, which was fantastic with small clumps of crap meat. The main course consisted of veil for my wife and swordfish for me. I regret getting the swordfish. It was dry, but honestly this is not a seafood place and I made that mistake on my own.
The service was absolutely amazing. Very comedic hosts with an absolute eye for details. Couldn’t have been better!!!
All in all it was a nice experience but for $500 I would expect a little more food.
Very good food and service. Highly recommend. Prosciutto di Parma and Radicchio e Gorgonzola were excellent appetizers. Pollo alla Milanese and Pesce alla Griglia (salmon) were extremely nice main courses. Perfect for pre-theater meal, which is what we did.
Tosca remains unsurpassed in DC for quality of the menu, the service, the sophisticated ambiance and as one of the few restaurants in DC where one can have a conversation, as opposed to a shouting match. It is not inexpensive, but the quality is absolutely at the top of DC restaurants, and again, Tosca has resisted the trend to louder and louder, making it my preferred restaurant for a business lunch or dinner; I know that Tosca is the first choice for many others, who can afford it.
Outstanding. Pre-theatre menu was perfect; good selection, priced right and portions were right. Everything we had was delicious, service was spot on. Only minus is the lack of enforcing their dress code (business casual I believe). Jeans and a Caps T-shirt really don't cut it and detracts from the impeccably dressed wait staff and the overall atmosphere. Will definitely go back
Four of us had the Pre-theater menu 29 December. The food was very good, but not great. My husband had swordfish, which he loved; son had salmon, a large portion; I had gnocchi, very good; other son had spaghetti, ok. Service was fantastic. Terrific wines by the glass. Lemon bar for dessert was something to cheer about. Overall, very good, not transformative.
Relaxed, quiet, mid/low-light, romantic vibe. Perfect setting for my party of 8 to celebrate a special occasion. Expert dish/wine recommendations and warm service from our skilled server, Angela. Every dish was top notch and creative/intriguing in some way. Foie gras was melt-in-your-mouth heaven, you must order it. Maybe the best I've ever had. I also had a celery/leek/shallot soup and pappardelle in white wine/rabbit ragu -- both dishes delicious, almost delicate and subtle, not too heavy. All around wonderful atmosphere and dining experience. Would be great for a romantic date, a group special occasion, or a high-end dinner for a team or solo business traveler. The highlight of dining at Tosca was clearly the care that the very professional chefs and staff place in every dish and every interaction with guests. Thank you for a lovely night!
Tosca does not disappoint. The service, the cuisine and the atmosphere all add up to a wonderful experience. This is one of our favorite restaurants. The pastas and risottos are marvelous as is the halibut and the veal chop. Wait staff is knowledgeable and attentive without being intrusive. A great restaurant for foodies! We will return again and again.
We enjoyed meals from the pre fixe menu before a theater performance. Besides being excellent, service was quick, without being rushed. The food, cocktails and wine were all outstanding! It was quiet enough to talk with our table without feeling like a church. It was just what we wanted to start a nice evening out!
The fish was outstanding (dover sole filleted at table, rockfish). Great pasta (squid ink/lobster ravioli app & short ribs ravioli). Great cocktail choices and marvelous wine. Service was top notch. Very busy with many business/office party diners at this holiday time.
Always a wonderful experience. Wait staff is very conscientious and ever-present without being obtrusive. Food is consistently good. Never a bad meal. I’m in this restaurant at least once a week on business. It is my go-to place. Table are far enough apart so that discussions are private. Excellent place for lunch or dinner.
