Wonderful dining experience all around! Highly recommend!
We were here for March For Life and was very pleased with this restaurant.
My experience at Tosca was disappointing. I went to Tosca during restaurant week expecting to have the full menu available as well as a supplementary restaurant week menu. I was looking forward to the Mare e Terra salad and Taglierini entree. Unfortunately, the only offerings were off the restaurant week menu. With only 4-5 options per section, the food came out very quickly with a kind of production-line feeling. You got the sense that the appetizers were pre-made and just waiting to be picked up by the wait staff.
Very disappointing that Tosca chose not to offer half portions of pasta as an appetizer selection, a departure from past practice.
Will I recommend this restaurant to a friend? Only if they brought a flashlight. I fell on the one step while leaving the smaller back area, going to the rest room shortly after being seated. Obviously, my evening was far less wonderful than I'd wished. The vast, softly lit area is separated by a subdued illuminated step which blends almost seamlessly into the surrounding decor but does not bring sufficient attention to someone unfamiliar with the space.
The food was artistically plated, well prepared and our server was efficient and pleasant.
Dinner was good. However the restaurant could have more vegetarian options. Adding protein to the pasta in the form of vegetarian meatballs, beans or tofu would make the meal more balanced.
The food was excellent and the service and ambience was very good. The wait staff was very attentive and helpful.
The food, service and ambiance was excellent. They provided an excellent selection for restaurant week in Washington, DC.
Love this restaurant. Food is always consistently excellent as is the service, from waiters to host to sommelier.
Excellent food and wonderful service
Outstanding evening for a group of 7 in terms of excellent dinner, vino, service, ambiance and privacy.
Came early and was seating quickly which added to our comfort level.
would definitely return
Sublime food and understated service -- an outstanding restaurant.
We St visit is amazing. My favorite restaurant in the area!
It was OK, but I had bigger expectations. Maybe because it was restaurant week, the food was acceptable, but not great. My slice of Branzino was not overcooked, but it was thin, small and "uninspired." The tuna tartar appetizer was good. The pasta entrees were small. Deserts were OK. Vino wasn't over-the-top expensive: got a decent $60 bottle. If I had to pay the non-restaurant week prices, and got similar food, I might have been unhappy. Not eager to return.
Very Good as usual. Tosca remains one of our favorite restaurants.
Met here for a business lunch on a busy day. We got a corner spot which was quiet and well-suited to conversation. The lunch was delicious, and service was generally unobtrusive, yet prompt and attentive.
Food is just amazing, difficult to find a restaurant in DC with better Italian food. Presentation, quality, creativity and taste: all 5 stars!
Favorite in DC
It was lovely. Coat check, a multitude of wait staff, and delicious food options that come out much faster than expected.
Great food and service. Would definitely go again.
Great. All around good restaurant
No better way to spend New Years Eve then dining at Tosca. The four course meal was perfectly structured to please even the most critical Italian food critic. Service was timely and the food delivered at the correct temperature. Wine list is abundant and adequately priced. I particularly enjoyed the gnocchi as my pasta selection and the branzino as my entrée. My date selected the risotto as her pasta dish and the red snapper as her entrée. Martinis were expertly crafted and served perfectly chilled and up. No better way to end 2019 and begin 2020!
Superb food as always, today and past visits. A hallmark is how well they treat everyone with exceptionally warm and professional service.
Food and service were top notch
A restaurant should never be judged by New Year’s Eve dining but the my meal was disappointing except for the pasta course which was superb! The salad and dessert were less than average. The beef tenderloin was just satisfactory. However, my husband’s meal was delicious, both the chestnut gnocchi and the halibut were perfection. The wait staff were EXCELLENT!
A good choice for Italian food.
I was there at the restaurant alone. But I have seen some difference in the service that was given to me and to others. Also I wasn’t suggested any food recommendations compared to other tables who got suggested for food, desserts. Also I waited and standing outside for about 30mins before I get a table on the other hand others were able to get a table though it was a walk-in. Very disappointed!!
If there is a way to refund my amount please do it.
Tosca was recommended by a colleague and it was outstanding. Service was incredible. We had no fewer than three members of the staff watching out for us. Food was outstanding. My wife is a foodie and gourmet cook and she was blown away by the quality and flavor of food. Cauliflower soup was very delicious. Pasta dish awesome. Dessert with drink pairing recommendations were a great touch. Don’t miss this place if you are in town. Highly recommend!
Excellent meal on Christmas Eve. Great menu, wonderful service, couldn't have been better.
Love, love, love this place. We’ve come 1-2 times a year for more than 10 years. It’s a “cant miss” choice.
Great food....a nice twist to traditional Italy food
Everything was perfect.
The service was amazing but we were disappointed in the selection. There was really no appetizer for sharing. The main course was delicious but limited selection.
Our family celebrated 2 birthdays here on Christmas Eve. The staff was very engaging and the service was top notch. A very wonderful dining experience.
Convenient location to National Theater with a great pre-theater prix fixe menu -- highly recommend! Pasta was excellent (homemade) as were the other available dishes. Great choices on all three courses and just enough food to not be hungry but not too stuffed as to fall asleep at the theater. The service was good but not impeccable since they can sometimes forget about you because it got quite busy.
The food, the ambiance, the service all was excellent. We had burrata, lobster/foie gras, cauliflower soup, prociutto/melon apps and all were great. Short rib ravioli, veal chop, mushroom gnocchi, pork chop! There were six of us and we all totally enjoyed our meals. We have eaten at many top restaurants in the world and my husband said this was the best pork chop he ever had! The gnocchi was light as a feather, as it should be. The veal chop was cooked perfectly. Table cloths and attentive service with a relaxing atmosphere is what I expect in fine dining and Tosca did not disappoint. Went pre theater and they made sure we were served promptly and efficiently. Great wine selection as well.
I was so looking forward to the pasta filled with rabbit and it wasn’t on the menu. Very disappointed. Tables for two are tight fitted and I felt like we were just fitted in. What we choose was tasty but still disappointed that such a popular dish was removed.
We were sat near the door on a cold day, the draft was horrible. There were other seats further in, however host staff seemed uncaring. Waiter was indifferent and lacked any personality. Food was good, particularly the cauliflower soup. The old fashioned was okay, but they used small rough textured ice cubes that melted very fast and watered down the drink. I just wasn't impressed especially for the price.
My friend loved the octopus. I wasn't wild about my pasta dish, but Italian restaurants aren't known for their vegetarian options. Overall, we had a great time.
The food was superb and not overwhelming. Some places give you way too much food. We even had dessert.
