Get the fire island roll!!
Very poor food quality, noisy atmosphere you can’t relax
Great service & great food!
Every day dinner, great food. Decor and music choice and level could be improved.
Great food! Loved it!
Great with kids. Quick service, something on the menu for everyone and accommodated special requests.
Food was OK. Very loud
Excellent food with great precision. Tables were well spaced to feel safe due to Covid. Ramen and sushi were some of the best I have ever eaten. I would strongly recommend if in DC.
music outstanding, my daughter had an excellent time, ideal for young adults.
The place is really nice going with your friends. The foods are really good, I am really satisfied, the best ramen that I have ever had in a while.
We were looking for a sashimi place in the city and we're glad we decided to come here. Food were great at a reasonable price. Will definitely come back.
The food is generally good, though some sushi rolls were large and difficult to handle. The service is atrocious. Over 30 minutes just for our first order, and over an hour to give our next order. Tea was served cool even after repeated requests for hot tea. Wait staff is disorganized-we were proffered the wrong dishes many times. Lots of better Japanese restaurants out there.
Awesome sushi and fantastic hibachi! Fire Island sushi is presented with a flame!
Was looking for a Japanese restaurant downtown and picked this one given the reviews. We ordered sushi and I was pleasantly surprised to see appetizers and rolls beyond the typical dragon/rainbow/godzilla rolls. Their drinks were also delicious too - will definitely return. BTW does not appear to be accessible as I only saw a staircase to enter.
We went to this restaurant thinking it would be more of a nice sit down meal. The restaurant is just a basic Chinese restaurant. Nothing fancy. A lot of young people from the college. Service was slow. They do not offer smaller meals for children. Food was okay however we ordered basic rolls.
Our waiter helped us make our decisions. Great food!!
Favorite sushi restaurant in foggy bottom!
Location is really cool with a NYC Subterranean approach. The food was also really good, some of the best Ramen I’ve had in DC. The service however was phenomenally slow and by the end of the meal we actually had to ask another service for our check because we couldn’t find ours.
Craving Japanese cuisine and decided to try this place out for the first time. Made a reservation and we where seated promptly without any wait. Water arrived within one minute and server right after. Ordered shrimp tempura rolls and pork gyoza to start. Both delicious. Diner companion ordered Tokyo ice tea and boy was it strong. Definitely taste the tequila. No watered down drink.
Each ordered the Filet mignon hibachi dinners. Steak cooked to perfection.
Overall diner and service was great and would highly recommend
it's always a pleasure to be at Toryumon for lunch...the quality and service is always great.
Great and quick service. Sushi was excellent.
For those of us who work in the heart of downtown DC, close to the World Bank and the White House, Toryumon is a convenient venue for lovers of reasonably priced Asian cuisine. It's not haute cuisine, more on the level of Asian comfort food, but if you can avoid large tables of diners, you can actually hold an agreeable conversation with dinner mates. The decor is serviceable but not quite cozy. It's a place to spend a working lunch or dinner and not dither longer.
Toryumon Japanese House is an exceptional spot that's hidden from plain sight. They offer a nice variety of Japanese Izakaya (small dishes), along with a great selection of ramen bowls and fresh sushi/sashimi dishes.
Their pork buns and bulgogi buns are some of the best that we've had in DC, and the broth of the Spicy Toryumon Ramen was definitely a grade above all other ramen places that we've been to.
The food was good but our experience would have even better if the people smiled there. The receptionist and server didn't smile at all and didn't give a good vibe. She didn't suggest items as we expected. She was having food while we were having food. We had to wait to order while she finished her food.
An after work gem for downtown DC with authentic Ramen and sushi. Great happy hour spot for drinks and food with fast service.
They did not have our reservation in their system despite me showing them the confirmation through open table. We had to wait 30 minutes to be seated and they put us as the bar because there was so table still. Unacceptable
Sushi & Sashimi were excellent. Hibachi grill and fried rice were wonderful. Our server was fabulous.
We ordered several sushi rolls, chicken katsu and ramen. Everything was excellent. Service was very good. It is a busy place right up to closing. Reservations recommended.
Amazing as always!!
Meat and seafood Hibachis were delicious, sushi was one bite sizes, ramen was quick so it was highly recommended!
The happy hour was a great deal for the area, and the food was consistently good. I wish their beer selection were a little better, and the ambiance of having politics on the TVs was a little grating, but none of that got in the way of the food being very good.
Small restaurant located in basement of downtown office building. Simple but well decorated, cozy and casual atmosphere, contemporary style, with driftwood colored floors and tabletops. About two dozen two tops set up as twos and fours, a few high ones. Small bar and sushi counter in back with additional seating. Service ok, food so so - I had the tempura app and it was probably the worst tempura batter I ever had, stiff and chewy, veg pieces cut large and coarse and tasteless. Ramen ok, California roll quite well made. Happy hour beer good deal at $4. Seemed busy. Probably a better place for drinks with food as secondary,
The ambiance was fantastic. My ramen tasted so good and my friends were content with the signature fried rice. Loved how the steps looked when entering the restaurant. Very energetic and a great place to eat with friends on a night out!
The ramen broth was absolutely worth it. Pork was ok, service had us waiting quite a bit but to be fair it was packed. I made a reservation for 2 at 630 on Monday night and thank goodness for that. Great ambiance and I would certainly go back
The hibachi was inedibly greasy, the tataki was inedibly spicy
The restaurant provided very prompt service and good food.
Everything is good but our server serve the appetizers and food at the same time for my husband, when he was almost finished our food came. Basically he’s finished and waiting for us.
I have spent a lot of time in Japan, and the sushi here is not that great. But server was very friendly.
Amazing sushi and great service! Highly recommend!
The location and food is great although it is slightly expensive.
