Unique, tasty , reasonably priced entrees with a real Italian feel in the garden level setting
Perhaps the best pasta I have ever eaten: the lamb ravioli. Our waiter allowed us to order half portions of several pastas so that we could taste them as the selection was just too hard. The broth that the ravioli were cooked in was amazing. Thick, rich and dark. The ravioli itself, stuffed with lamb ribs, was really, perhaps the best I have ever, ever had, including Italy.
My second pasta dish was one the waiter recommended that I would never have gotten: sausage and cream. It was delightful. Both were unique tastes to me. Both were really worth eating late at night for!
Excellent food and great service! The food was over the top delicious! Great wine selection!
Tortino served up some of the best food my wife and I have eaten in years. Service was impeccable and our server was attentive, with a sense of humor that made the whole experience revelatory. The pasta bolognese was so good we were both licking her plate! My slow cooked lamb filled ravioli were superb.
We are now trying to recreate the dishes at home…hopefully we won't disappoint our tastebuds! Thank you, Tortino!
Food was terrific. All of party extremely pleased with meals. Great service. Responsive, helpful suggestions without being overbearing. All in all made for a wonderful Mother's Day dinner.
The food was excellent. I’ve been here a few times with loved ones and the service is always top notch. The location and ambiance are low key and they are always on time with reservations. I really enjoy eating here. Ask for the specials.
Service and food were both terrible. Would not go back ever. Called to let management know how bad it was and they did not seem to care at all. Better off grabbing half eaten food from a dumpster than going to this place. Pasta was overcooked, some of the shrimp had the shell on some didn't, chicken tasted like plastic. Overall terrible restaurant.
The Food is very good with great menu selections that would please a most any diner from pasta lovers to meat eaters. The wait staff is extremely professional and courteous. Very nice wine list. The deserts are excellent, everyone should try the chocolate salami once, if not your missing out. We try to dine at Tortino's whenever we are in DC from Boston. It's just a great little restaurant in a really cool neighborhood, always a consistent great experience.
The best thing about this place is the food. And the deserts are beautifully plated. Another plus is that the noise level was moderate, not too loud and not too quiet. We could have a conversation with people across the table. and say Whaaat? The downsides are the wait staff and the availability of parking. The waiter was not confident or well versed about the items on the menu or the english language , and was not sure about the wines. It was necessary a few times for another waiter to come over to the table to answer our questions or clarify things. The waiter was sincere but perhaps not well trained. The food and wine did come promptly though which alleviated the problem.. The web site advertises 2 hour parking, but that refers to street parking, so only if it is available. I found a spot 1 block away. ANd there is NO valet parking. We did have a pleasant meal but I am not sure I would come back due to these issues.
Everything was on point and great!!! The customer service was out of this world. We we're blessed to have Kirk as our server. He provided great descriptions if the food items on the menu. We had a wonderful time and will definitely return.
This endearing restaurant serves delicious, authentic Italian food from different regions of Italy. Everything was very well made and the pasta was actually al dente, a failing of many other restaurants.
Our waiter was terrific. He was knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. This is a neighborhood trattoria, but worth a drive.
I took my girlfriend to Tortinos for her birthday - we both loved it. The service was excellent and attentive (despite the fact that there were two large groups behind us). I ordered the beet salad and the grilled branzino, my girlfriend had the caesar salad and the linguini with mussels, clams, lobster and cherry tomatoes. The presentation was lovely, and the food was excellent - the mussels and the branzino were both just right. For desert we had the ricotta cheesecake - it was light and delicate. We will definitely be back again.
Restaurant is quaint place and the food and service was excellent. Crab ravioli and lamb ravioli was very good , very nice wine list, and chocolate salami desert was very good. Highly recommended restaurant!!!
Love this place. Great balance between creative updated Italian and the restaurant you remember from your youth. Delicious food, attentive staff, and fairly reasonable prices for the location.
Absolutely wonderful. Food was perfect; very delicious. Service was superb. Very nice atmosphere and ambiance. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Outstanding service and beautifully prepared food! The atmosphere is warm and cozy;guests are welcomed from entry to exit.
Excellent food, great wait staff, and in a nice neighborhood that isn't too busy.
The food is excellent, but the decor could be improved.
Delicious food, very helpful staff, very busy leading to occasional slow service. A hidden gem. Will be back!
Wonderful service! The seafood and pasta dishes were standout excellent.
A little over priced for pasta but the food was wonderful
Excellent meal in relaxed setting with a distinct sense of a family business-wonderful.
Excellent cuisine, friendly service and reasonably priced
Excellent food, really nice service but not exactly cheap.
Delicious entrees made even better by implementing portion-control ( most restaurants serve too much food, forcing you to be a glutton & spoiling the tasting experience). This was my 10th visit - never had a bad meal. For lamb lovers, get the lamb shank - fall-off-the-bone tender!! Best in the city.
Tortino's is an inviting restaurant with good food and outstanding service. The noise level was fairly loud, but it WAS a Friday night with some energetic groups so I imagine it's usually pretty quiet. Prices were pretty standard for this quality in the DC area. I'd have to say that none of the dishes we tried were outstanding and memorable but it was very tasty and overall a very pleasant experience
The service was very slow and inattentive. The food was delicious
We come here everytime we're in DC. It's always great.
An excellent neighborhood trattoria that aspires to even greater quality. Service was highly professional, food was excellent, portions medium to large. We went to Tortion in part because someone had posted a noise level of 69 dB on line. It was much noisier when we were there--I measured 84-86 dB using Sound Print on my iPhone.
Tortino is a small, pleasant, and unassuming restaurant. The Montepulciano recommended by the server was reasonably priced and very good. The beet salad with fennel sounded more interesting than it was. The black sea bass was the hit of the evening. Artistically plated, very hot with a nice crust, moist, tasty, and accompanied by garlicky spinach and several slices of browned potatoes. Such an entree priced in the 20s seems reasonable these days.
Tried this based on other reviewers and was not disappointed at all. It is a neighborhood gem. Food was delicious, flavorful and good portions. The two of us shared 2 appetizers, 1 salad & 1 pasta and the portions were perfect. The waiter was very warm & friendly. Would definitely come back again!
My family and I had a wonderful meal that reminded us of a family restaurant in Italy. The food was excellent and the prices were very reasonable.
Had my family there for a late Easter dinner. The food was delicious and service was great.
Our first time here and we thought it was a lovely evening. Quiet ambiance and excellent service - pleasant and there when we needed them, but not at all intrusive on conversation. Food surpassed our expectations - everything we ordered was excellent. Fettucine bolognese was delicious and grilled salmon was cooked to perfection, as was the asparagus and carrots served alongside. Fruit panna cotta was a standout in desserts - fruit syrup was intensely flavorful and the dessert was a very nice ending to a good meal. We will be back for sure. Nice espressos too - hard to find sometimes.
Great service and food!
Excellent food and service. I had the osso buco and it was delicious. Everyone was friendly and the place is a lovely neighborhood restaurant. Strongly recommended.
We ordered two specials and they were excellent! We will definitely come back
This is one of my favorite Italian restaurant in D.C. The food is excellent, with a great selection. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Tony, the manager is visible, interactive and active ensuring all customers are receiving a great experience.
We had a delicious dinner and evening at Tortino's. The waiter, Salvadore, was excellent and very friendly and appreciative. They were having a power problem but it didn't seem to affect our service at all. I would highly recommend this to those who like a neighborhood, smaller restaurant with excellent food and attentive service.
Food was fantastic, service was good to start but then started lacking. They had credit card machine issues but we still could have gotten water or some type of acknowledgement. The table next to us did.
