Great little restaurant with excellent menu and food preparation. I took a European business client and his wife to dinner here and both loved the food and the choices. The crab ravioli was just excellent, as was the roasted tomato soup that was on special that evening. This restaurant is a on the outer edge for downtown Washington, and has an unassuming appearance from the outside, but it is a real gem
Excellent all around. Will definitely go back!
Staff was attentive. Excellent wine recommendation from our waiter. Food was creative, not your average Italian. Apps were a little expensive for the small size.
Food exceptional and service pretty good. Host not very hospitable upon arrival especially when it comes to getting your table even with s reservation.
Wonderful food and dining experience!!
I have been to Tortinos numerous times and it never fails to exceed my expectations. The food is always delicious and a perfect portion size. I had the Fettuccine Alla Bolognese this most recent visit and it was amazing. Hearty yet delicate and seasoned to perfection. The staff are attentive and knowledgeable and the small intimate setting is perfect. This restaurant has become one of my absolute favorites when I am in DC.
The food and service was absolutely delightful. I would highly recommend this as a real Italian treat. The pasta is made homemade daily! And the Toto's Tuscan lemonade was delicious. Spot on quality for a reasonable price!
A delightful find from searching the internet and just selecting a recommended restaurant that was available when I wanted to eat - and it was amazing! Great service, wine choices, food options and really prompt delivery of my orders. I would definitely return!!
Great food every time we have been. Food is well priced, good wine list and the house wines are decent.
We had a wonderful time. The food for the price and waiter were great. The restaurant was quaint. My wife enjoyed it.
Great food and service, quite the find! we would certainly go back if in that neighbor hood again
I enjoyed our dinner very much . The scallops appetizer was perfectly sautéed and very well presented . We had osso buco and grilled salmon , both well prepared and tasty . The tiramisu was the perfect dessert for this enjoyable evening . Highly recommended for classic Italian food in an intimate setting
We had an absolutely wonderful time at Tortino. The food was amazing! We had the duck and veal tenderloin, and both were perfectly done. The best duck I have ever tasted. The server was knowledgeable and very friendly and helpful. Will definitely come again, and I recommend this place to everyone interested in a good dinner with a cosy atmosphere.
From the moment you walk into this establishment you are surrounded by the aromas of deliciousness! There were three people in my party and we all ordered different entree's. They were all delightfully delicious! From perfectly seasoned grilled fish to the expected and delectable Italian bolognese sauce, your taste buds will explode with happiness. The service was impeccable and the ambiance was perfect for a wonderful evening out with friends.
If and when you visit DC, make this your first meal out and you be very thankful!
A fine, civilized dining experience. Some new flavors and preparations. The service was graceful and kind. The wines were of good quality and the servers were knowledgeable.
I am going back because the experience was exactly what i was seeking.
It is very infrequent that my wife and I go to a restaurant with my three kids and all five of us have not only a delicious meal for each of us, this was a memorable one for each of us. The Halibut was melt in your mouth perfection! My crab ravioli was the perfect balance of pasta and crab which was perfectly executed. Two of my kids got Fettuccini Alfredo which they all agreed was the best they had eaten. I tasted their meal and cannot disagree. The last dish was chicken parmagiana and this also was delicious. Our first impression was incorrect and we left with clean plates and a real treat of a meal!
This is a neighborhood gem. Delicious food. Amazing specials everytime we visit.
David, the GM and sommelier, is very attentive and situationally aware; a seasoned pro with remarkable knowledge of wines, their anatomy and origin. Definitely chat him up.
We experienced a delightful dinner with excellent wine.
We are always very pleased with the outstanding food presentation, delicious, high quality
cuts of meat and all fresh ingredients. Everyone on staff from reception, bar tender, wait staff
to the very talented chiefs, worked together to create a memorable experience of fine dining for our
wedding anniversary. We arrived during the first hour of evening dining , so the restaurant setting was very calm and relaxing.
Service was prompt without feeling rushed. Our wine was high quality with very reasonable price.
The service was excellent. But there are not as many options that one can explore for people with food allergies.
Even the menu has a note that states that there cannot be any changes in the menu. So, for me that was a deal breaker.
So, no rissotto for me. The food was good, so it was a good deal for the price.
Loved the menu , ambiance, and food was delicious! Great choice for authentic Italian food!
We were staying in DC for a couple of days to sightsee. Looked around for a good restaurant to eat, but not overly pricey. This was off of the beaten path and not right by all of the attractions, which is probably the only reason why they don’t charge premium prices. The food was fantastic! Drinks were very well made! And the service was perfect! I would absolutely recommend this place to anybody in the area!
Each dish our party ordered was outstanding. The pasta was authentic, the halibut special was exceptional. Great cocktails. Attentive service. This is on our "must eat at" for all future D.C. trips. Thank you for a memorable meal.
My waiter made my night. He was amazing. The food was amazing. I never felt rushed even as a single diner. The whole night was just what I needed.
I found this place by its reviews on the last night of a work trip to DC. While initially things didn't start too great as I'd received a text saying my table was ready (15mins before the booking), and upon arriving at the time of the reservation, I was told my table was not yet ready and made to wait for approx. 20 minutes.
After that, the food was all absolutely delicious, the staff were attentive, and I'd highly recommend the Tiramisu and the coffee for dessert. Enjoy!
We had a lovely time with Kurt, who was an outstanding server from start to finish. He greeted us with a smile and kind words, gave helpful recommendations on the best pairing of wine and food, was friendly and conversational, and above all, knew his menu and restaurant like the back of his hand. We felt that we were in the care of a true professional, and he's definitely topping the list of reasons we'll come back. Service aside, the food was fantastic and the wine selection was fabulous. I live three blocks away and am kicking myself for not coming here more often - that will certainly change going forward!
Perfect old world service and quality. Food is excellent.
A first date with a new man was nothing short of special! In fact, he’s now a rum guy! The specials are just that, SPECIAL, and worth trying! The rest of the menu is a great selection, too!
What a great neighborhood find! The atmosphere was cozy; the food was exceptional (I loved the salmon-husband loved the veal); the service was friendly . So glad we happened upon it on Open Table. Hope to visit again soon on our next trip to DC.
Excellent food and variety without being "fussy".
Highly recommend this restaurant and since I do cooking as a hobby I appreciate the quality of their ingredients.
Had dinner here on our last might in DC. Food was fantastic. Service and Ambiance were very good. Would recommend to anyone. Make sure you book as it seems very busy.
All four of us enjoyed our meal. Great food and service. We will definitely return!
Visited once, just had to return. Braised lamb ravioli wonderful
Love the menu and the food. Normally the service is great but last night it was disappointing. I was talked into a wine by the glass that they easily could have given me a sample of. There were a couple of other issues too
I met a colleague here for dinner while attending a conference in a nearby hotel. The server gave just the right amount of attentiveness. The salmon was the best I have had in several years, and the chocolate cake was worth saving room for dessert. The noise level was high enough that we had difficulty hearing each other talk.
Great meal. Loved the selections and staff was great with helping us decide. Dinners were fresh and delicious. This is one to add to your list
Food and service were very good. Attention to detail was also spectacular. Noise level was high so I really can’t recommend this for those special 1 on 1 dates. But very nice overall. I’d definitely go back.
Dinner was on a busy Friday evening and my dinner companion was about 15 or 20 mins late. Not only was the greeter not upset, he gave me a complimentary glass of wine while I waited - nice touch. We shared a seafood appitizer (special for the day); scallop, shrimp and octopus in what seemed like a vodka sauce. All of the ingredients were good but the scallops were exceptional. Moist and not over cooked. My date had the veal steak - and cleaned her plate (atypical). I had the ossoboco on a bed of spinach mashed potatoes. I swear the meat must have been stewing for 5 or 6 hours- fell off the bone. Too full for desert - but this place knows how to make an expresso. The place is homey and from the street, desceptive as to what is behind the door.( Ignore the garish salon/ key shop signage upstairs. )
They were very accommodating. We were 40 minutes late and were still able to give us a table.
This is mine and my husband's favorite restaurant in D.C. We live in Annandale and will happily leave our cozy suburban confines for Tortino any day. The waitstaff is incredible. The manager David is incredibly genuine, helpful, and friendly, and the food is outstanding. It is the best pasta I have ever had outside of Italy.
Very good entrees. We had nine in our party and everyone loved their meal. The apps, salads, and cocktails are a bit pricey. Our waiter was very good and was spot on with his recommendations.
