Had dinner here on our last might in DC. Food was fantastic. Service and Ambiance were very good. Would recommend to anyone. Make sure you book as it seems very busy.
All four of us enjoyed our meal. Great food and service. We will definitely return!
Visited once, just had to return. Braised lamb ravioli wonderful
Love the menu and the food. Normally the service is great but last night it was disappointing. I was talked into a wine by the glass that they easily could have given me a sample of. There were a couple of other issues too
I met a colleague here for dinner while attending a conference in a nearby hotel. The server gave just the right amount of attentiveness. The salmon was the best I have had in several years, and the chocolate cake was worth saving room for dessert. The noise level was high enough that we had difficulty hearing each other talk.
Great meal. Loved the selections and staff was great with helping us decide. Dinners were fresh and delicious. This is one to add to your list
Food and service were very good. Attention to detail was also spectacular. Noise level was high so I really can’t recommend this for those special 1 on 1 dates. But very nice overall. I’d definitely go back.
Dinner was on a busy Friday evening and my dinner companion was about 15 or 20 mins late. Not only was the greeter not upset, he gave me a complimentary glass of wine while I waited - nice touch. We shared a seafood appitizer (special for the day); scallop, shrimp and octopus in what seemed like a vodka sauce. All of the ingredients were good but the scallops were exceptional. Moist and not over cooked. My date had the veal steak - and cleaned her plate (atypical). I had the ossoboco on a bed of spinach mashed potatoes. I swear the meat must have been stewing for 5 or 6 hours- fell off the bone. Too full for desert - but this place knows how to make an expresso. The place is homey and from the street, desceptive as to what is behind the door.( Ignore the garish salon/ key shop signage upstairs. )
They were very accommodating. We were 40 minutes late and were still able to give us a table.
This is mine and my husband's favorite restaurant in D.C. We live in Annandale and will happily leave our cozy suburban confines for Tortino any day. The waitstaff is incredible. The manager David is incredibly genuine, helpful, and friendly, and the food is outstanding. It is the best pasta I have ever had outside of Italy.
Very good entrees. We had nine in our party and everyone loved their meal. The apps, salads, and cocktails are a bit pricey. Our waiter was very good and was spot on with his recommendations.
I was pleasantly surprized at this neighborhood gem. The risotto was outstanding and service was top notch. Will definitely come back
Even when full, there’s always a table available! Food, service and decor are all Five Star!
Amazing all around. Neighborhood restaurant with incredible food, drinks, and staff. Will return as soon as I’m back in town.
Tortino’s is consistently good. The duck breast was served in a very tasty sauce with vegetables. The mushroom soup was excellent.
excellent Italian food and friendly service. Will be going back
I've eaten here a dozen or more times, and it's always money well spent. David runs an excellent establishment!
Favorite Italian place in town!
Tortino is a wonderful neighborhood Italian restaurant well worth a visit for its food, service and atmosphere. It's also a great value.
We had a lovely dinner at Tortino. We both had the daily special: rigatoni with meatballs (which they were happy to suggest the appetizer size for my 10 year old which was plenty!) and I had the filet mignon with polenta and spinach. Portion size was great, seasoned very well, and cooked a perfect medium rare (as ordered). The service was also excellent and the prices very reasonable for dinner. We're looking forward to coming back the next time we're in DC.
Excellent food quality, limited, but adequate beer and wine by the glass selection. Service was OK, expected a bit more attention on a Saturday night. Definitely recommend for business or friends more interested in each other than views or al fresco dining(this dinner was mid February).
the menu was excellent and the preparation was sound. But, this is an Italian restaurant --right -- but the wine list is shallow. There some excellent Italian wines that you could chose. Try it. Dwat
The food was excellent: crab ravioli was our favorite.
The wine menu was full of great compliments.
Staff accommodated for our limited time frame perfectly.
Limited menu but the food was fantastic!
Wait staff was very attentive. The bill with tip was still under $85 per person even with appetizers, dinner, drinks and desert
Wife and I thought the food was wonderful and Curt are waiter gave us great service! Was easy on the wallet as well!
This place is really nice. The wait staff was very attentive and helpful for myself and my girlfriends, who all asked for recommendations on the wine by the glass based on what food we had ordered. The pastas and steak were delicious. I had the bolognese. It wasn't the BEST I've ever had, but it was really good. For 3 people we had: an appetizer, 3 glasses of prosecco, 3 glasses of red wine, 3 main dishes and shared a dessert. It was just over 200$. So honestly not a bad deal at all for D.C. prices. I liked the atmosphere - felt it was quiet and elegant but not fussy like some places in the area can be. Definitely recommend it.
A GREAT meal for all 4 of us with fun inner action with the staff. Going back.
Upon entering we were greated
We love Tortino's - it is our best Logan Circle/Shaw neighborhood restaurant!
Tortino is a delight - one of those hidden gems that people need to find. The food is uniformly delicious, the wine list is nice, the service is excellent and friendly. And it’s quiet enough that you can have a nice evening of conversation. One of my favorite DC restaurants - very highly recommended.
It’s like stepping back to 1996. The menu hasn’t changed at all. I guess soggy broccoli rabe was all the rage back then. And you’re still serving stuffed tomatoes with cheese and mushrooms? It was all just so eh. I was amazed to see how packed it was. Do folks in DC crave food we ate when the Clintons were in the wh? I miss those good old days too but maybe the menu needs a refresh. Even if we get nostalgic we could do something that Barack and Michellle might have eaten.
The decor and lighting haven’t changed either. Time for some updates.
Wonderful service and food.
Starter courses were well liked at the table. Between the five of us we tried the Roasted Beet Salad, the Tricolor Salad, the Baby Spinach salad and the Tortino Caesar. Our final guest ordered the evening special mushroom soup. Everyone was quite pleased with their choice. Similarly the pasta (we all chose pasta) was surprisingly good, very fresh and perfectly cooked. One asked for pappardelle pasta with bolognese sauce crossing two of the menu items with no objections from the kitchen. Others at the table enjoyed the fresh Crabmeat ravioli (declared the best ever made), the goat cheese gnocchi (a little dense, but delicious), and the linguini with seafood. All in all, we were very pleased.
For dessert, the table shared two orders (3 ea.) of chocolate-dipped canoli..some of the best I've had this side of New York. We WILL be back.
Me parecio limitada la opcion del menu; demasiado oscuro y muy pegadas las mesas;.pedi una pasta con mariscos y no me parecio espcial. El vino y el postre fue rescatable
Delicious food, comfortable ambiance, special but not fussy. Would go back weekly if I could!
Limited menu and more of Northern Italian versus pasta and red sauce. My wife had a Greek style fish and I settled on NY Strip. Both were terrific. Service was exceptional. We took awhile to decide. Reasonable prices and a cozy dining room. Loved it.
Food and service were excellent. Small Italian restaurant with cozy atmosphere. The downside is the location in an area where parking anywhere near the restaurant (we finally found a space 4 blocks away after 30 minutes of searching) is near impossible.
We took the recs from Open Table and chose Tortino's and were not disappointed. The food was delicious, staff/service was excellent. A little restaurant tucked into brownstones down a few stairs. Would definitely recommend and return!
I really enjoyed the meal and the service was excellent. My only complaint was that it was very loud
