Read some great reviews...however they over cooked my dinner
This is our Italian go-to night out restuarant, having migrated from the delicious but overpriced Osteria Morini. The ravioli always amazes. This time it was braised lamb - outrageously delicious. Scallop appetizer was perfectly seared. I love that this feels like a real place, not an overly polished restaurant group.
A phenomenal date night!
Service was great and prompt. Food was amazing!
Wonderful location for delicious Italian with a cozy ambiance. Perfect date night spot.
Great food, great service, and great drinks as always!!!!
Tortino is a true find in a city that has a wide array of dining options and considerable competition. The food is exquisitely prepared. The staff is friendly and attentive. Everyone I have taken there has been genuinely impressed.
This place is my neighborhood go to restaurant and it absolutely positively never disappoints! Dinner tonight was a homerun and the discounted wine on Tuesday nights enabled us to buy a beautiful Italian wine with our dinner. This place stays on my regular rotation!
This was the second time I have dined at Tortino’s. Both times the food was excellent, and the service was very good. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Excellent Italian restaurant in a warm, cozy setting. Charming wait staff.
The food is superb. You cannot go wrong with the specials.
Always great food. Service is top notch!!
Absolutely delicious dinner with my family. Specials were amazing, service was excellent, can’t wait to return.
Great food, great service and a real rarity these days: Tortino's understands the value of having good acoustics in the dining area!!! You can actually have a conversation with your dining partners without shouting or straining to hear each other. Every restaurant in town needs to take a lesson from them and learn that good acoustics = higher revenue and happier diners!
The service was excellent! The food was delicious! Also they make an amazing Manhattan.
Don't understand all the wonderful reviews on TripAdvisor and Yelp for Tortino. The service was slow for such a small restaurant on a weeknight and the selection was very limited for an Italian restaurant. The entrees were seasoned too heavily as were the heaps of sauce. There are many better restaurants in the area.
Excellent in all respects.
Really enjoyed the service and the food. How we engaged with our server added to the overall experience. Food was solid.
Every thing about Tortino's is outstanding! Dinner was great. The service was impeccable. Looking forward to our next visit.
Solid traditional Italian fare. Nothing fancy here but the ambiance was pleasant and service prompt. I had the Caesar salad and lamb chops. Both were excellent. Good value.
Excellent food. Great value. Courteous and attentive staff all around. One of my top restaurants in DC.
I frequently dine at Tortino and was happy to take a neighbor and friend who had never been. We both loved our meal. I always order pasta. It is excellent. This is one of these restaurants that is truly a neighborhood gem that also attracts visitors to Washington
Excellent ambiance and service. Great place for a date or dinner with friends.
The food and service were very good, but my dinner companion and I felt rushed through the meal. The main course arrived when we were still eating the appetizer and the wait staff were constantly trying to clear our plates. At 10pm, they put the lights on to make it clear it was time to leave (our reservation was for 8:15pm). Perhaps this would have been less of an issue if we had begun our meal earlier but it detracted from our enjoyment.
Tortino's is a great local gem of a restaurant. It is tucked away but always delivers great food, service and neighborhood ambiance. This is my go-to spot when I am near the Convention Center for business or a date night.
We went to Tortino’s while staying in DC. We arrived very early but were seated promptly. The crab cake appetizer was delicious. Our waiter did a nice job going over the specials and I had the veal scallopini which was very good. Sadly, my husband had the short ribs over risotto which was under seasoned and over cooked. We were not asked about meal until we were practically finished. Price was not bad but it was not a memorable meal.
This place is a beautiful little hole in the wall, and has a classy, but not dated, menu. I had the seafood linguine, and it was delicious! So was the banana bread pudding (the special for the night - highly recommend!) Staff was attentive but didn’t hover, ambiance was romantic and charming, and overall very positive experience! Would definitely go back!
Crab ravioli was outstanding!!
We enjoyed a quiet weekday lunch at Tortino. The service was excellent and the restaurant was mostly empty which made for a nice, low noise level.
I thought the food was mediocre. The green salad was overly dressed and unexciting. The mushroom risotto was tasty, although the portion was rather small. The bread was decidedly disappointing.
Overall, the lunch was pleasant enough, but it did not meet my expectations after reading all the high ratings.
Excellent food!!! Great service! Definitely give it a try!
Tortino never disappoints!!
I frequent this neighborhood restaurant every time I travel to Downtown DC. On this night, they had several entree specials to order from. I suggested the server pick which one. He said "let's have the chef do that". To my surprize, they gave me 1/2 of each. Fantastic!!!!!!
Delicious! We will be back!
College roommate in town for a visit
The meal was a significant cut above our expectations for a neighborhood trattoria, for all four of us.
This is one of my favorite neighborhood go to restaurants and it never disappoints! Spectacular meal and a beautiful bottle of wine!
The food was excellent! Servers were very attentive and helpful in explaining the menu options and specials. Noise level was higher than anticipated for a date night, but overall great experience!
Food and service good, but way too loud. Of course as people drink more they get louder and I could barely hear my companion. Would not recommend for that reason.
The goat cheese gnocchi with artichoke ragu was a delicious vegetarian dish. I love Italian food, and this was the tastiest Italian food I've had since moving to the DC area.
What a wonderful experience we had! We were greeted by name at the door (our reservation was at opening time so we were the first diners, but even so most restaurants wouldn't have done that), and escorted to our table immediately. Our server was very knowledgeable about the wines as well as the menu items. We tried an appetizer, which was excellent, and several of our party had salads. We all ordered different entrees, and they were superb. It's easy to see why Tortino is one of the top rated Italian restaurants in DC. We will definitely recommend and return.
