   Food was superb but service was lacking. We ordered the crab ravioli and papadelle for entrees and pannacotta and gelato for desert. All was very good! The service was very slow and not very friendly though. The waitress did not disclose that the water was bottled and $7 each so that was a surprise when the bill came.

   Gentleman waiter was rushed and difficult to understand, forgetful of orders. Mussels were sandy. Clams, lobster, shrimp, wine sauce very good, Salad dressing was too sour. The tiramisu was exceptional. Charging $7 for “still water” without notifying of the charge ahead of time is a bit underhanded; should offer “tap” water as well , we are not in Europe afterall. Olive oil and balsamic vinegar were flat, no depth. Restaurant has a cute neighborhood vibe and food is competent for what it is but a few tweaks would make this a much better experience. Nice Italian music and ambiance.

   The reviews showed a different feeling about the food and service. The food was okay. My ravioli was not well cooked. The service was not good. It seemed they forgot about our table. We had to call them all the time to remind about bringing drinks, bread, and also to remove the plates from the table that had been used. In all, I was expecting a better restaurant.

    We had a party of 4 on a Monday night and were seated immediately with prior reservations. Server, Pedro, was excellent and very attentive. The appetizers and meals were served hot and were delicious and prepared as instructed. Highly recommend this spot for business meal or surprise for wife or girlfriend.

    The food I had was really good. I had the spinach salad as a starter, and while it had a little too much olive oil, it was okay as it helps to break down the spinach. The surprise for me was the duck breast in the wine reduction. It is clear that the chef knows his stuff! This sauce reduction was a gem! And it paired well with the vegetables. Duck is typically a little gamey for those who are not familiar, but the chef did an excellent job of making it extremely tasty. Well done! Great food is about thoughtful combination of the ingredients and Tortino definitely gets it. Simple, uncomplicated, sophisticated and tasty. Overall the ambiance is really nice; the staff give you enough room and time to enjoy the experience. I think that a lot of people who complain about wait times at restaurants are those who forget that they’re not at a chain restaurant where you “have it your way”. I would definitely eat here again!

    From the outside it looks like hole in the wall little restaurant that would be mediocre at best. Looks are deceiving. The food was very good. The New York strip was delicious. I will definitely go again.

    We only had 40 minutes before a concert we were attending and the staff and kitchen accommodated us and were gracious, plus the food was yummy. Place also has a very NYC step down restaurant vibe. Will definitely come back.

    Great restaurant. We had a bit of a hitch as they sat us at a really crappy table by the restroom when plenty of others were open and we had to complain to move. Left a bad impression. But then our waiter and the rest of the meal was lovely.

    Compared to other Italian restaurants in metro DC, this restaurant is fine enough. The cocktail menu is interesting and wine list reasonable. The food is also just fine. But there is nothing exemplary about the experience.

    Incredible food as always. The filet mignon was perfectly cooked, flavorful, had a wonderful wine reduction sauce. Impeccable, professional service as well. Still in my top 3 restaurants in the DMV after many years of going there.

    For our Valentine’s Day dinner we came in. The server was pretty attentive and explained everything perfectly. I think his name was Lex. We went with a beef carpaccio and Cesar salad for an appetizer. Both were fantastic. My wife got a specialty gnocchi and loved it. I loved my pappardelle which I argue is one of the best pastas you can get in DC. Highly recommend this place. No notes.

    Atmosphere, food, service were excellent...Jason, our server was outstanding! Only downside was there was a large party in the adjoining room on the other side of the bar who were SUPER loud, so difficult to hear at times.

    This is what you consider a neighborhood gem. It is tucked into the neighborhood like it belongs and in fact it does. Everything about this restaurant was amazing from being seated to taking our dessert order. A must try for great food!

    This was a great place to celebrate a birthday dinner. The food is reasonably priced with good portion sizes. I appreciate the authentic decor and fantastic service! The restaurant seemed a bit small but that makes it intimate!

    Excellent service in a quaint and cozy setting. Pasta was prepared al dente, food was delicious and the chef kindly customized a couple dishes for us. Great value! We will definitely return.

    The food was delicious. I got the spinach salad and tagliarini. If you like seafood pasta, this was just what I was craving. Tried a bite of my friend’s penne which was also outstanding. The bread came warm and everyone got their own plate for olive oil. Had to pay for water but everything was at a super fair price! Would definitely go back.

    A gem in the middle of a quiet neighborhood. An authentic Italian chef who knows the subtle character of Italian pasta, fresh herbs, and spices. Just like being in a small Italian tratorria.
