Warm welcome by the staff. Always feel welcomed. Decided to dine at the bar instead of a table. Great wine list. Tried several items that were on special, including the risotto with lobster and mango, ribeye, and a pasta. Sorbet for dessert. My favorite restaurant in the District!
Amazing restaurant!!! I really liked it and would highly recommend it to anyone!! :)
Traditional restaurante, although a little too traditional. Needs some improvement in decoration and sound system. Food excelent!
The food was very good and plentiful, but our waiter, Salvador, was excellent! The only negative here was the bread. It tasted kind of stale. Odd for an Italian restaurant. Overall, a very nice meal and outstanding service make Fort Knox well worth a visit!
This was my second visit to Tortino and I must admit I was wondering if I would enjoy it as much as the first time. The answer was absolutely. We had the crab ravioli (split for two) and the lamb shank (also split). Both were extremely good.
It isn't the prettiest place, but the prices are very reasonable and, to my delight, I learned that on Tuesday's bottles of wine under $80 are half price.
Recommended if you like home style Italian cooking you normally find on the east coast, especially in New York or New Jersey.
Some of the best Italian we've had. We were in town for the weekend and liked the food so much we went back our second night. The food and service were excellent. The pasta dishes were excellent and they make their pasta in house. I Highly recommend this little gem.
This is a consistently good Italian restaurant with great service and very good food. Furthermore, they make a mean Negroni.
Delightful small place
Of variety in the menu. Everything was delicious.
This is a very special place and the chef/owner is incredible
Nice to have a great neighborhood place will quality food at reasonable prices
Cannot go wrong whether you have fish, meat or pasta
The food was fantastic! Service not quite as good as the last time we ccx went, but still excellent. The semifreddo is to die for!!!
The food was terrible. I´ve chosen the crab ravioli. Part of it was cold, part of hot. The sauce had absolutely no taste. My friend took the veal and it was burned. Do not intend to return.
The staff was very welcoming. The prices for an upscale Italian restaurant were reasonable. The food was outstanding.
For Italian food in DC. The best food for your money. Will go back again.
We absolutely loved this resraurant!!! Food and service were absolutely spectacular. The semifreddo for dessert was to die for and the monkfish wrapped in prosciutto and mozzarella was one of the best dishes I have ever had!
This was our most delicious meal on our 5 day trip to DC. Wish we were staying longer so we could enjoy another wonderful meal.
Service was good and food good. But beware if you order refills on soft drinks. They'll charge you everytime and at $3 a drink it adds up. Especially when its mostly ice.
Food was sub-par. Linguine was saturated by butter. Portions were smaller than expected considering the lack of quality ingredients. Octopus appetizer was over cooked as were the chickpeas. I can not recommend.
Fun neighborhood Italian restaurant. Although the risotto was bland, the appetizers and pasta was tasty. Great restaurant for the price point.
I had the crab ravioli and my brother had the seafood linguine. Both were delicious!
Lovely restaurant. Great service and food, and (Big Drum Roll) you can carry on a conversation with your dining companions without shouting. We had never been to this restaurant before, but we will certainly return.
Service was very good, food was excellent, the draw back, the wine markup seemed really excessive compared to other restaurants in the area. You will definitely appreciate the attentive but not intrusive service.
Really disappointed in Tortino. We have been coming here for several years, and we just left really disappointed in the quality of food. We had the octopus, which was a very tiny portion, very rubbery and not fresh, the risotto of the day, which was mediocre at best, and the bronzino which was just ok. We used to love this place but the quality of the meal has gone way down. Probably won’t be coming back anytime soon.
Very quaint feeling in a tiny old home. Food was delicious, including the tiramisu. Service was very good.
We were greeted warmly, but then given a table that I would only use if all the rest were filled - and they were definitely not. The chair on the end was directly across from another table and gave VERY LITTLE room for the waiter to get by, so it felt like he was constantly having to brush the chair at our table to get to tables beyond us. The waiter came by in a timely manner and took our drink order, but did not mention anything about having specials. Then another waiter came by to take our order and again didn't tell us about any specials. Later when we heard a waiter tell another group about that evening's specials we realized we had not been given this information, but it was too late to change our order. We would have preferred the special appetizer and one of the entrees to what we ordered. Nothing was offered to rectify this. And to add to this, my husband's pork chop was dry and over cooked (ordered med. well, not well done). The servers were nice and the food was hot and came in a timely manner and my husband said the sauce on his pork chop was wonderful, but over all it was not the experience we had wanted for our anniversary weekend.
Great little spot in a neighborhood setting... osso bucco was amazing.. a wonderful DC dining experience
The food is why you want to find this little tucked away Tuscan place. It was out-stan-ding!
Très bonne cuisine italienne: les pâtes, les saltimboccas ainsi que le gigot d’agneau étaient un régal! Seul petit bémol: niveau sonore très élevé (très américain...)!
Way too loud Hard floors, walls and ceiling so noise bounces and is amplified. Almost have to shout.
They force to charge 20% tip on after-tax amount, which is ridiculous! You can’t force people to pay tip on tax portion.... The manager is terrible and arrogant.
Tortino’s is a great restaurant. The food, the service and the atmosphere were all wonderful.
Great find! Unpretentious place. When you get there you almost miss it from outside. But food was lovely and service was top notch. Will definitely go back.
Tortino has a great, cozy neighborhood feel. Food was delicious-- we had duck and saffron taglierini-- both excellent
Delicious. Great service. Unpretentious and cozy. Would highly recommend- neighborhood gem.
Always a solid Italian choice!
Fun, good food, staff was great. Thanks!!!!!!!!?!!!!!!!!!!!!’?
My wife and I joined my brother and sister-in-law, plus a friend of theirs for diner at Tortino. This was a first for all of us and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The food was fabulous and so was the service. It is a quaint restaurant that my wife and I will return to.
Excellent dinner. Great service.
Our server was there when we needed him, yet left us plenty of time to ourselves. Soup, main entrees and the dessert was just right for us. Couldn't have asked for anything better. Thanks!
Amazing Italian cuisine and service. We had five entrees and two appetizers all of which were delicious and perfectly prepared. We will definitely be back
Great food and the waiter let us take our time. We were not rushed. Highly recommend this restaurant
