Tortino Ratings and Reviews
We picked this restaurant as it was just around the corner from our hotel; we'd been travelling all day. I saw this restaurant had good reviews. We were welcomed with a smile. The server gave us the specials; I had a Buffalo Mozzarella, Tomato with a Cucumber sauce appetizer, my Sister and Mum both had the Carpaccio; which was delicious. For my entree I had Papadelle with Lamb Ragu, I can safely say, one of the best Pasta dishes I've ever had. We had a Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, which was excellent, maybe a little pricey. Overall great food, would definitely go back, if ever I'm in DC.
Really excellent restaurant. The Caprese type appetizer made with Burrata cheese was superb. The eggplant appetizer was also great. Thin slices of eggplant with a tomato sauce. The pan seared scallops were perfectly cooked over a cauliflower puree. Finally, the grilled marinated Portobello mushrooms were al dente with a balsamic drip. The spinach Tagliatelle with chicken was just right. Finally, the Roasted Veal Tenderloin was served medium rare as requested served over au gratin potatoes with a Black Truffle reduction. The couple next to us raved about the grilled pork chops. So don't go anywhere else before Tortino. By the way, very reasonably priced.
Great waiter, great ambiance, delicious food. Our orders included the porcini-infused pappardelle, veal, scallops appetizer, portobello mushroom appetizer among other dishes. At dessert, the salted caramel gelato was to die for. We loved that the restaurant was full and bustling. The noise level wasn't too loud or too quiet. Everything was so good, highly recommend this place!
We went for the first time, before the theater. The experience was perfect, from start to finish. The decor is lovely. It's quiet. The food was very good, and a good value. Charles the waiter, and the rest of the staff were great
I actually was not able to attend due to a migraine, but my friend decided to go anyway. This was probably his 10th visit, and as always was delighted with the meal and the service. At the end of the meal the waiter brought out the dessert with a candle per the reservation request. My friend had a good laugh as other patrons wondered about him ordering his own birthday dessert. He had a very enjoyable evening , as usual!!
I took my boyfriend here for his birthday, and we were both very happy with how delicious our meals were. Our pastas were flavorful and cooked to the perfect texture, and the scallops from our appetizer were delicious as well. We enjoyed the quiet and calm ambience so we could have a good conversation, and our server was great as well. Everything was just delicious and chill which is how I like to roll. Infinity stars for Tortinos!
A wonderful find in DC and a great value for the money. My date and I shared a beet salad, had the lobster ravioli as our appetizer and dined on Pesto Rissotto with Shrimp and tomatoes and a grilled Pork Chop. The meal was delicious and the service was great. I will be back.
I was very excited to try this place out, as I heard great things. My fiancé and I recently went to Italy, so we had high expectations, but realized we were in D.C. and not Rome. It started off well, with high hopes to have great ambience. However, the service was strange, as we didn't have one designated server but several people. With multiple people, things slipped through the cracks. I had to ask for salt/pepper three times (not sure why they don't just put them on the tables..) and our water glasses went empty several times. The food sounded great, but was a disappointment. The appetizer special (mozz, tomato, watermelon) was pretty delicious, and the wine we got was excellent - the server who helped us choose that did a great job with that. We ordered pasta and lamb chops. My pasta was pretty good, and I could tell that it was pretty fresh, so I appreciated that. My fiancé's pasta sauce was pretty generic and tasted kind of like a bland alfredo. The biggest disappointment that I had was my lamb. It was a special and sounded amazing! I asked for it medium well so that it wasn't super pink like lamb usually is. It came out and was burnt. The burnt flavor was pretty much all I could taste, not to mention the inside was pink and extremely fatty. The vegetables that came with it were worse than those frozen bags of veggies that you heat up in the microwave at home. I was extremely disappointed in this, and NO ONE asked us how our meal was AT ALL. I would have talked to someone, but no one seemed to care. Of course they cared when they gave us a bill for $200+ though. I don't mind spending the money but I get upset when I spend that much money on something that is below my expectations. :(
I've lived here for close to 50 years but have never heard of Tortino. Who knew?
My husband really wanted Osso Bucco, and Tortino is the only restaurant I could find that serves it.
And wow. He loved it. I had a great pasta de met with so many mussels and clams. Another of our party had lamb bolonese and loved it. And another was vegan, and Tortino said pick any pasta and we can make it meatless. Wow again
Fantastic service. Great wine. A smidge loud, but impressive because it was a Wednesday and every table was taken. Quite lively, quite lovely. I'll be back-
I've been to Tortino a handful of times and they never disappoint! Their wine list is not large, but is appropriate to the menu. Their bar area is the right size to wait, if you are there before your reservation. The staff remembers you from your previous visit. The menu is amazing and exceptional. Let's just say I'm now longer dating, and I'm now in a committed relationship with my date who shares the same amount of class as I do, and is as much of a foodie as I am!
This was a special dinner to celebrate my daughter's birthday. The food and service were top notch. My only complaint is that I made a note regarding my daughter's birthday when I made the reservation and was hoping for a candle in her dessert - nothing. I know they do that as the table next to us had a special plate and candle.
