Loved the environment (sound level was fine, nice decor, not overly crowded tables), food was delicious, good variety on menu. Would definitely recommend!
The specials were excellent. Short ribs were very tender. Rock fish on sautéed spinach and garlic mashed potatoes also a winner.
The branzini and the risotto were excellent! They brought out a beautiful tiramisu dessert for my friend's birthday. We both enjoyed the entire experience.
Fantastic meal and fantastic service. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are in downtown DC.
A fabulous experience for our first wedding anniversary. The best risotto I’ve ever had.
We have visited this restaurant a few times. Each time we go the food is good, but the service is always less than desired. We go back and think it will be better, but it is not. We were served our appetizer by another server and no one came back to check on how it was. The only time we were checked on to see how everything was is when we were finished our entree. It would have been nice if someone came by and asked if I wanted another glass of wine or even refilled our water. The only person that was attentive was the bartender. He was awesome. Maybe next time (if there is a next time) we will sit at the bar. The restaurant may need to hire more servers because it seems like everyone was helping everyone out.
Way way way too loud. Had to shout to be heard. Not relaxing in the least. Do not order the lamb chops they were the worst I have ever had. Great cocktails. Mediocre salad. Mediocre dessert.
My wife and I visited Tortino to celebrate our anniversary. We actually had our rehearsal dinner here, and absolutely love the cuisine and the restaurant. It definitely wasn’t our last visit.
The restaurant was very nice and food was good but not great, and I wouldn't rush back. I have to say my daughter was craving Vodka sauce which was not on the menu and the chef did make it for her which was awesome.
Well designed and flavorful food. Lamb chops, lobster risotto, and crab ravioli are excellent.
The place is in a cozy garden unit but could use a refresh on the inside. If you want any special requests or occasions noted on your reservation, don’t bother wasting your time. It’ll go ignored and unacknowledged.
The service was slow and amateur. It took a while for someone to come with water and even longer for our waiter to see if we wanted drinks. We had to ask for bread twice. No one told us the specials. Empty dishes sat on the table for far too long despite staff stopping by for refills and to bring out additional food.
The food itself was very good. The fresh homemade pasta was a fantastic and I’d definitely get a pasta dish next time
Such a perfect place. Friendly impeccable service. Every bite of everything so delicious. Pleasing atmosphere. Relaxed but elegant. Love this place.
Love this neighborhood spot. The pasta is fantastic and the servers make you feel like you’re at home. Appreciate that you can make requests and combine sauces and pastas without any challenges.
Lovely evening out at Tortino. Noise level was such that you can actually have conversations. Food and service was a great value for the money. Wonderful Risotto with Osso Bucco.
Overall very good.
Enjoyed a late night dinner with my husband and son. Do not live in DC; so we were a little skeptical with the reviews. Reviews are accurate; the restaurant was wonderful. Food was terrific; service was impeccable.
Great food and excellent service
Classic old world Italian
The food was outstanding, the recommendations from the staff were spot on, and the prices were reasonable. The service was great and didn’t have to wait long for the food to come out.
Excellent food and service. Very accommodating .
Great neighborhood Italian dining. This is a restaurant in an unassuming building and area. While parking is a bit challenging, the food more than makes up for the setting. If you love great Italian food and like a good neighborhood seting not far from the Marriott Marquis, this is your spot. Advice: take the recommendations of the special dishes (sometimes not on the menu).
We’ve walked by this place many times and often wondered what it was. After reading so many great reviews, we decided to try it out. There are very few great restaurants and fewer still great italian restaurants in the area. Tortinos was amazing. Great vibe, impeccable service, freshly made pasta (every day fresh) and fantastic salads and main courses, all cooked to perfection. They know what they are doing and are at the top of their name, all reasonably priced, high quality and high service standards. Much better than any of the newer italian restaurants in DC. I took off a star on the overall score because we sat outside and 1-2 employees came out about 8-10 times to use the patio or steps right next to us as a smoking lounge. They should get far away to smoke. Otherwise, perfect meal.
Nice address and good food in a interesting ambiance.
Warm welcome by the staff. Always feel welcomed. Decided to dine at the bar instead of a table. Great wine list. Tried several items that were on special, including the risotto with lobster and mango, ribeye, and a pasta. Sorbet for dessert. My favorite restaurant in the District!
Amazing restaurant!!! I really liked it and would highly recommend it to anyone!! :)
Traditional restaurante, although a little too traditional. Needs some improvement in decoration and sound system. Food excelent!
The food was very good and plentiful, but our waiter, Salvador, was excellent! The only negative here was the bread. It tasted kind of stale. Odd for an Italian restaurant. Overall, a very nice meal and outstanding service make Fort Knox well worth a visit!
This was my second visit to Tortino and I must admit I was wondering if I would enjoy it as much as the first time. The answer was absolutely. We had the crab ravioli (split for two) and the lamb shank (also split). Both were extremely good.
It isn't the prettiest place, but the prices are very reasonable and, to my delight, I learned that on Tuesday's bottles of wine under $80 are half price.
Recommended if you like home style Italian cooking you normally find on the east coast, especially in New York or New Jersey.
Some of the best Italian we've had. We were in town for the weekend and liked the food so much we went back our second night. The food and service were excellent. The pasta dishes were excellent and they make their pasta in house. I Highly recommend this little gem.
This is a consistently good Italian restaurant with great service and very good food. Furthermore, they make a mean Negroni.
Delightful small place
Of variety in the menu. Everything was delicious.
This is a very special place and the chef/owner is incredible
Nice to have a great neighborhood place will quality food at reasonable prices
Cannot go wrong whether you have fish, meat or pasta
The food was fantastic! Service not quite as good as the last time we ccx went, but still excellent. The semifreddo is to die for!!!
The food was terrible. I´ve chosen the crab ravioli. Part of it was cold, part of hot. The sauce had absolutely no taste. My friend took the veal and it was burned. Do not intend to return.
The staff was very welcoming. The prices for an upscale Italian restaurant were reasonable. The food was outstanding.
For Italian food in DC. The best food for your money. Will go back again.
We absolutely loved this resraurant!!! Food and service were absolutely spectacular. The semifreddo for dessert was to die for and the monkfish wrapped in prosciutto and mozzarella was one of the best dishes I have ever had!
This was our most delicious meal on our 5 day trip to DC. Wish we were staying longer so we could enjoy another wonderful meal.
Service was good and food good. But beware if you order refills on soft drinks. They'll charge you everytime and at $3 a drink it adds up. Especially when its mostly ice.
Food was sub-par. Linguine was saturated by butter. Portions were smaller than expected considering the lack of quality ingredients. Octopus appetizer was over cooked as were the chickpeas. I can not recommend.
