We experience a rather bad service last night in one of our favorite spots . Food , drinks and ambiance was far amazing but our server was not happy to be there and wait us. He seemed to be bother , at end of night he dropped the check in a very offensive manner . We are not sure if we come back there after we drive a while to dine there
Other than a very snarky welcome upon entering, all was pretty good. I asked host if they were open and he said “can’t you see people already sitting and eating?” Actually I could because is was waking into a closed door from the bright sidewalk. Waiter was not happy to be working on a Sunday morning but we eventually cheered him up.
The food is ok and the ambiance is nice, but it is not worth the money. There are so many other places in LA with ambiance just as good and with better Mexican food for less money (Marix and Mercado for example). If you plan to eat dinner then walk right over to the bars, this is a good spot to choose though. It’s just down the block from the Abbey and Chapel.
This was our first time there-- we will definitely be going back for more. I liked it so much I already told friends to check it out. The food was delicious!!
It was great. Thanks
Great location and amazing food, very good portions for the price.
Highly recommend the tortilla soup.
I’d rate this restaurant as just OK. It came highly recommended, but the food was just mediocre. I had the crispy fish tacos. I expected a deep fried texture. I’m not sure what I got, but it wasn’t crispy (borderline mushy) with next to no seasoning on the fish; adding salsa did little to perk up the flavor. I ordered off the brunch menu and only received two of these bland tacos on my plate; no sides. Needless to say, I left less than satiated with an almost empty wallet after paying $55.00 for: 2 tacos, a shared order of guacamole (w/3 other people) and 2 margaritas. (For this amount at my local Mexican eatery, two people leave full for the day!). Also , the noise level did not make for conversational ease at our table. Altogether, an unexceptional dining experience
Been here on several occasions.
Good food, but small portions and overpriced especially for appetizers .
Had a friend in town from Mn and we picked this before a show at the Troubadour. Drinks were good but $15, and food was excellent (machaca enchiladas were amazing) and good value. I would highly recommend to anyone. Ambiance was great and quiet too. The wait staff is VERY professional and attentive!
Had a reservation for corner table and arrived early to find it had been given away. Also service was very slow
Excellent food and atmosphere. Excellent service by the food runner. Waiter however was not attentive. Did not check back to refill drinks or see how we were doing.
Saw waiter chatting up coworkers but for some reason we were ignored. The restaurant was not busy at all during the time we were there.
More of a drinking place than a restaurant. Salsa and chips weren’t good, which is always a bad sign for a Mexican restaurant.
Great service, food and ambience. It does get noisy/loud in the front room, but the back "rope" room was much quieter and preferred!
We had a great time! Weekend happy hour is good for drinks, the food portions on happy hour aren’t great and the price adds up. The ambience is amazing, great for a date.
Not at all like their location in Kauai... and not just in the relaxing in Hawaii sort of way. Was painfully loud, even with reservations for 2 we were sat next to a large drunk party who’s constant yelling and self congratulating themselves on all being 32 (apparently 32 is the new 21?) made it unpleasant to eat. Special requests weren’t really thought out (ie asked to sub the rice and beans in the fajita for a romaine side salad, at an up charge, and then they put beans in the salad. Are you kidding me?). The made to order guacamole, which was one of our favorite things at the other location, was neither. Instead of table side preparation with us having input on what seasoning and flavors we wanted, we just had a bowl brought to the table as if they just got some at the supermarket. Bland, hardly any cilantro or heat to it like we’d have asked for (if they had asked like the menu said.)
We just sat there and realized we should have skipped it. No point going again.
Great food, service and ambience
Great food, good environment. We went there for NYE and had their prix fixe menu
Great food and great service. I’ll definitely come back again!
Pleasantly surprised at how amazing the food, drinks and service was! Can’t stop thinking about when I want to go back!
I have been going to Tortilla Republic for years. It was a quiet Saturday morning brunch but picked up as we were leaving around 1pm. Great food.
Happy Birthday, lunch! Divine food and yummy Margarita’s. Highly recommend.
Food was amazing as always and Brian was so great!!!
Amazing! Good drinks, good food. We had a great time ◡̈
Work Holiday Lunch
Food was great and loved our server. Will definitely be back for brunch.
Overall a wonderful meal, as usual. Our table was one of the tables closest to the bar so, the rowdy bar patrons continued to bump our table and seats which quickly became irritating. As we left, we complained to the host at the front and his response was basically, that happens. If the restaurant had asked the patrons to keep the aisle clear, at least for the servers bringing food, this would have solved the issue. Our server from England was extremely attentive, our other server was the exact opposite. We inquired as to “who” was our server and they basically said they share all the tables. When everyone is responsible, no one is responsible, which is basically what happened to us until the lady from England began to assist us.
Definitely will return, and hopefully they have the server issues resolved.
Ambiance and food were great!
I love the staff here they are super attentive and on top of things . Incredible food
I took 2 friends who were visiting from Australia and wanted to have some Mexican food. The interior of the restaurant is beautiful and the service was great. We sampled the carne asada, vegetarian enchilada and chicken fajitas, along with fresh guacamole. Everything was very good and well presented.
Great tacos and a nice vibe
Cool place with friendly staff
Best Steal Fajitas in the land !
Absolutely loved everything about this place! I thought it might be noisy (as I know some other spots in this area are VERY noisy), but the sound level was moderate. You could still enjoy dinner and hear one another. Service was spectacular and probably the BEST chicken mole enchiladas I have found in LA! Recommend the freshly made guacamole too. Very delicious. Service was stellar at our table and when we finished dinner and moved to the bar, the service was phenomenal there too. Great margaritas! We will definitely dine here again.
Pretty good food - i had the appetizer which was 2 shrimp tacos - that was perfect for me - it was my entree and it was delicious. everything was delicious!
Great mexican food that you never feel like it came off an assembly line in the back. Great ambience and location too. Our sever Dustin was especially attentive and wonderful
Delicious food, yummy drinks and drink options. Lively atmosphere!
Food and drinks were awesome. Staff could be a little less stiff and more friendly. A smile goes a long way.
Always a great time, delicious food and great service. Thank you to our server Daniel and the rest of the service staff for yet again the reason we enjoy this neighborhood find!!!!
Perfection as always.
No matter Brunch or Dinner, the ambiance, food and service never disappoint.
Ended up sitting at the bar and the service was amazing!! The bartender was very attentive! I’ve never seen him there before but I hope he starts working there more often!
