Food not particularly fresh. Hard to understand the great reviews...
I’ve had brunch here when it was a buffet and it was GREAT! They’ve changed to a tapas style model and the food takes so long to arrive you forget what you’ve ordered. Same with the drinks. It was so loud we had to raise our voices just to hear each other at the same table. It’s also very dark even in the middle of the day so hopefully you’ll get seated by the windows. At $40/person I expected a better brunch experience.
Excellent and interesting food and great outdoor eating as well. Very noisy, be warned.
Great food as always!
Noise level was high and although the lighting was a bit brighter then I prefer for a dinner, it was still difficult to read the menu since it was printed in about 6 point font in a script that offered poor contrast to the background color of the menu.
The food and service was very good, but the overall experience could have been better based on the above.
The food was great but service was terrible. The waitress barely paid attention to our table. I specifically told her we did not want to do the all you can eat option. We ordered 5 items for 3 people, as well as a dessert. When the check came we were surprised to see the waitress had charged us for all you can eat, much pricier than the amount we had ordered. We asked for this to be resolved, when it finally was 30 minutes later, the bill went from over $200 to about $100 - much more reasonable for the amount we ordered! Be ware that they try to pull a bait and switch - look over your check carefully!!
The food was ok. The ambience was nice. Had a reservation for 11:45pm and still had great service! Geraldo was our server and he was AMAZING!! Great personality and very attentive! Dancing downstairs for late night experience. Cool place but menu could be a tad better!
First night in DC with my family for the Cherry Blossom. This place has wonderful dishes and very good wines for descent price. Service was attentive and excellent. Do try their special dessert. The place could use some decorative structures as it is too opened and exposed.
To loud! Food was ok.
The only reason I gave this place 3 stars is because the food was delicious. The service was absolutely horrible. First thing we hear from our server was they just found out that the section we were in was now assigned to them. Then they spill water on our table. When placing orders for drinks a person at our table asked for a certain type of tequila in their margarita. The server came back and told him they were out of the shot he ordered. He didn't order a shot. The table ordered 2 orders of Shrinmp ceviche they brought 2 orders of Peruvian chiviche not once but twice even after we told them it was wrong the first time. Some of us were completely done with our meals by the time others got what they ordered. We complained to a manager and nothing. Not even coming over to the table and apologizing or comping anything.
Toro Toro used to be the go to brunch. It had amazing service and amazing food. The new style set up is not it. The waiter was super inattentive and the food was bland at best. I felt rushed there. It was not the thing I wanted to do for my birthday
Upon arriving, they put in an order of starts and shareable items. You get several rounds of delicious food, plus whatever else you’d like to order. You don’t even have to ask for refills on drinks. As soon as I turned around to order another drink, our server was placing my new one on the table. I go here a lot for Happy Hour and now I am going to be going for brunch!
Meh. Tried once, was okay
Exceptional service. Great food! We enjoy the weekend brunch because we are able to try different food Toro Toro has to offer.
Food was great, especially the shareable menu. Raul is a great waiter!
They have just two wegan options, but both were yummy. Loved the guacamole and salad.
Food was ok, service was fine, they failed to inform us that they would charge us $14 for water.
We had a nice lunch at Toro. Food was good and service (Matt) was exceptional. Will definitely be back.
This used to be a buffet, the selection of food the was exceptional. The ambiance and service is better than before, however now that they’ve converted every table to be served rather than self serving method, the food is not very good at all, options are limited and it takes forever to get what you ordered.
Food was very good and drinks delicious. Service needs to greatly improve however. While many waitstaff appeared excellent, ours was clearly inexperienced and borderline incompetent. Nearly 30 min would go by each time without the waitress ever checking in to see if we needed anything else. Wouldn’t be as big a problem if not for their 2 hour limited on all-you-can eat food and drink special for $70 each. Can’t eat or drink much that fast if never able to place an order. We were actually charged “extra” for three more dishes because of this (despite only placing two small orders beforehand). Very trendy with a young sexy crowd of local patrons.
If you have a large group be patient but staff was very helpful and food was great
Good food. Fun.
I was very disappointed that they aren’t following the banned plastic straws law. I did complain to the manager, who essentially played dumb about it. Won’t return. The food was good, except for the desert, tres leches cake, which was extremely dry (the opposite of what that dessert should be).
Very disappointed to return here and to discover they've discontinued the unlimited tapas lunch. As someone who has patronized this place from the old days of the cold and hot lunch buffet, then the tapas menu approach, I find the new regime just like any other restaurant. Where before, each tapa was unique and tasty, and a chance to try small amounts of new things, the fare is now MUCH more pedestrian. I am genuinely sorry to see this change-- done for economy, perhaps-- but it seems like they could have introduced a more metered system and kept the diverse tapas. I hope they change back-- in the meantime I fear this is the end of a beautiful relationship :>(
Always a great brunch experience!!!
Went for the brunch and got the bottomless brunch. All the food and drinks were delicious, service was great and with everything that was included (specifically alcoholic beverages) the value was great!!
The server (very kind and apologetic) accidentally messed up our order and the food was lukewarm.
We enjoyed bottomless brunch on Saturday with a group of friends and it was amazing! We tried many different foods that we enjoyed. The bloody mary's are spicy, but good.
Yes, the food was tasty though the guacamole could have had a tiny bit more kick. Quiet for lunch which is appreciated given how noisy so many DC restaurants are.
Fantastic service, great food, incredibly friendly front of the house staff!
This is our second time going to Toro Toro.... IT WAS JUST AS AMAZING AS THE FIRST TIME!!!!! We go for brunch on Sundays and highly recommend it. It took us 10 hours to recover from the Mimosas (various flavors)!!! LOVE THE MIMOSAS here!
We were a Party of four ladies we were seated right away the restaurant was nice with a big window with a view
Drinks took too long to bring we were already on our meal
Waiter tried to convince us of the family platter which we did not want the appetizers were good we had a great guacamole and tostadas the grilled salmon was delicious the rice platters were huge! Nice ambience. More of the younger side .
Came here for a much needed date night with my wife. When you're spending money on a babysitter you really hope that a meal is worth it and this was. Beautiful atmosphere, amazing food, and great service. The drinks were kinda 'iced down' but I still enjoyed myself.
Excellent service - Gary rocked! Amazing food and fun atmosphere- I’ll be back!
Great place for a Friday dinner. Amazing service. Not to busy at 8pm-9pm, but gets busy later.
Marvelous starters and small plates - the first couple were fantastic and each succeeding round was better than the previous. We had quite the variety - meats, seafood, pasta, vegetables - and not a mediocre plate among them. We highly recommend the tuna tartare starter, the beef empanada, and the tempura Mahi Mahi tacos. These plates stood out, though as I've said everything was good, and we tried most items on the menu.
Cocktails were also impressive. The Pisco Sour tastes every bit as good as it looks, and the Paloma - despite being made with Juarito - was perfectly dry and not the least bit oversweetened.
For dessert, the four of us shared La Bomba. You can't go wrong with La Bomba, but you'll regret not getting one when a nearby table does.
Modern design yet warm and knowledgeable wait staff made this a place we'll definitely return to when we revisit DC.
We came here for the brunch on Sunday, around 11:30. Amazing value and the food was pretty good. I'm from NY so usually, unlimited brunch means just the drinks (only mimosas) being unlimited but here, the food and multiple cocktails are unlimited. Food was good. The manager made sure we were taken care of, and it's a freaking great value. I would definitely come back!
