What Insiders Are Saying

The Infatuation
7.8

Toro NYC is a bigger, louder, more party-time version of the Boston original. Hit it for the scene and a spoonful of uni, ham, and caviar.

Ratings 7.5-8.0:These are restaurants that are reliable, tasty, and particularly good for whatever we have deemed them “Perfect For.” Hit up a 7.7 for Date Night with confidence, as long as you don’t need the restaurant to be the most interesting thing that happens that night.

Great food and good service. Waiter explained the tapas very well and checked up on the table often.

I’ve been dining at Toro for so many years but this time it was such a awful experience. The restaurant was empty and service was so bad I couldn’t even believe it. Server took 10 minutes to greet the table and she didn’t even recommended anything, just asked what kind of water we would like. Food took so long that we were lack of appetite anymore. Then another server approached to our table asking if everything was great and of course we told him that everything actually was a completely mess. I love dining at Toro but this time was awful. By the way the Gambas were extremely salty. Impossible to eat. Very very bad. Not coming again

The tapas offer so many options for a large group. We have never left unsatisfied and the service was excellent and very accommodating to my group's needs.

Great tapas restaurant, opposite Chelsea Market. Large venue, industrial style setting, friendly staff, great food and a good vibe.

Went for an evening out with friends prior to an MSG show. The Dinner, service and experience were all phenomenal. We picked a couple dishes to start and then asked the waiter to pick the others and surprise us. Each one was better than the last. We were all VERY happy!

With all the options for dining available in NYC, this is our favorite go-to for everyday dining. Food is creative and delicious and the wine list is excellent. Even the wines by the glass are impressive. Highly recommend for a small group so you can order a broad selection of tapas.

A bit pricey, especially the drinks but food very good and fresh. Service is on point !

Food was outstanding. One of the many things I love about Toro is each time I come back (and I'll keep coming back) there are always not only favorites and signature dishes that remain on the menu (maybe the best tuna tartare in town) but also always enough new and interesting options that it's hard to decide (white asparagus with duck tongue and goat butter, anyone? -- delish). Can never get bored here -- thank you!

Amazing bartenders! great food. The best ice cream with matcha I ahve ever tasted and great churros. The pulpo was also amazing.

If you don’t care about quality food preparation or if the hot tapas are actually served hot, this is the place for you.
And the reaction of the staff was pitiful.
VERY BAD!!!

Thoroughly enjoyed every tapas dish we ordered and was great for our foursome who love to eat and sharing is not a problem. Our server was fantastic and even gave us an A+ on the menu we marked up with the items we ordered and were considering. He was knowledgeable about the food and the drinks/wine.

Toro was a disappointment to me, the place was dirty and smelly and the tapas weren't good at all to me who has experience traveling around Spain and trying many different places for tapas. The potato tortilla was too cold, and the croquetas de jams didn't taste like jamon at all. Gambas al ajillo had a sauce that was too strong and too orange. The bone marrow was the best one if I have to choose from all I tried. The place is for younger crowd that likes marcha and doesn't mind a noice restaurant. Toro is not for me I most likely won't come back and wouldn't recommend to eat.

Toro is a fun casual place where food is good. I've visited Toro many times before but I recently learned they are actually serious about wine and have a great sommelier, Joseph. I'll go back there not only for food and fun but for learning Spanish wine.

Beautiful place, but Overcooked shrimp (that was safffrony, not garlic as advertised) and mediocre other tapas isn’t gonna cut it. Super disappointed in a place that used to be great.

Fantastic creative tapas with great flavors and unique combinations. The space is a great urban industrial fe perfect for the meat packing district with a lively and pretty loud scene. The service was truly exceptional with attentive and enthusiastic staff further enhanced our lovely dinner.

Absolutely amazing place. I arrived a little early and spent some time at the bar - the bartenders are sweethearts and make amazing drinks. The music was excellent - a combined mix of 90s rap into early 2000s hip hop. My waitress was attentive, helpful, and bright. The food was amazing too - the octopus is to die for. I'll be coming back!

In a trendy atmosphere this restaurant it is specious, comfortable, and avant-garde in many ways, yet the tapas style food is a mixture of traditional and modernized tapas, all the ones we had were really amazing! And the spirits and mixed drinks were phenomenal! I recommend it to anyone visiting NYC/Manhattan!

A bit disappointing...Tapas were creative but not that great especially given the price. Very good chorizo, cold or hot! Red sangria was meh and the place closes at 10pm leaving us the only customers hanging after that. Not really the Barcelona ambiance...

Absolutely delicious food. Everything was perfect.
My only thought I’d it would have been nice to see some less expensive bottles of wine to select from. In the $40-50 range. The wine we had was delicious and our server was extremely helpful.
Beautiful place.

We were a group of four, the food was amazing. Portions are small for the price but every dish was better than the next. The deserts are also excellent. The only thing that could improve was the brussel sprouts. Usually that's a table favorite but this time it was the least favorite. The bruschetta like appetizer was so fresh, a table favorite!

Came here for a birthday dinner and the night was perfect! The waitress was super accommodating and honest with us about the amount of food to order. There were 5 of us and we started with the tomato bread & bacon wrapped dates, then ordered about 5 plates for the main course. We asked her if we should order more, and she advised us to wait and see! I appreciated this as a lot of tapas restaurants try to get you to order 8000 things to rack up the bill. It ended up being the perfect amount & we all left super happy. We also split the juniper gin pitcher (amazing) and ended the night with a sparkler lit dessert. Will definitely be back!

Our experience was fantastic - the waiters were wonderful and the food amazing. We had a wide variety of the food offered on the menu, and everything ordered was truly amazing. We eat out a lot, and although not total foodies, I would rarely speak so highly of a venue - but we truly had a wonderful experience. Highly recommend this restaurant - cool vibe and superb food.
