TORO Ratings and Reviews
We were a group of four, the food was amazing. Portions are small for the price but every dish was better than the next. The deserts are also excellent. The only thing that could improve was the brussel sprouts. Usually that's a table favorite but this time it was the least favorite. The bruschetta like appetizer was so fresh, a table favorite!
Came here for a birthday dinner and the night was perfect! The waitress was super accommodating and honest with us about the amount of food to order. There were 5 of us and we started with the tomato bread & bacon wrapped dates, then ordered about 5 plates for the main course. We asked her if we should order more, and she advised us to wait and see! I appreciated this as a lot of tapas restaurants try to get you to order 8000 things to rack up the bill. It ended up being the perfect amount & we all left super happy. We also split the juniper gin pitcher (amazing) and ended the night with a sparkler lit dessert. Will definitely be back!
The service and food at Toro was simply exceptional. They went above and beyond to accommodate my food restrictions. The manager actually marked up a separate menu for me listing out possible customizations. Every food item we ordered was excellent. Highly highly recommend.
One of the best Tapas restaurants I've been to ever and I'm including the many I've been in Spain over the years of living in London with a team in Spain whom I see on a quarterly basis. We had a group of 9 of us and thus got to sample quite a bit of the menu and it all was lovely. Wine was on the pricey side but then again this is NYC!
This is a super trendy downtown destination. When I walked in I made the assumption that the food and service would be sub-par. I was totally wrong!!! Service was terrific and the food was far beyond my expectations. Loved the mushrooms, brussel sprouts and ceviche. Would definitely return...
We went to Toro on New Year’s Eve for dinner. We were impressed by the decor, efficient and friendly staff and the great food! The jalapeño gin and tonic was a highlight as was everything we ordered to eat. The server was first rate and we never had to wait for drinks.
We loved it and would gladly go back next time we are in NYC!
Was looking forward to this night.... heard great things, but that was not our experience! Got there early to the bar and the staff was more into doing pouring tricks of water into their mouth than taking our order. At the chefs bar we were slightly acknowledged but had no idea who our waiter was! And because of that kept having to repeat ourselves. They kept wanting to take our dishes away early and when wiping down the table bwteeen courses would wipe around a discard dirty napkin. Food was okay.... drinks were overpriced. Sad this wasn’t the dream experience I had in mind!
The restaurant is large and was only about 1/3 full so lacked an intimate atmosphere. But the tapas selection was good and the wine excellent (if a bit overpriced). The location west of Chelsea Market is a bit “ out on a limb”. But I would still visit again.
Great experience at Toro. Small plates were great to share. The kids enjoyed trying new things in small quantities and many varieties. They brought items not on the menu on requesting. amazing vegetarian options and great wait crew who were knowledgeable and helpful. Would recommend this restaurant for a fun evening with kids.
Food is overpriced, was told the table would be held for 15 minutes but was told I was 10 minutes late and still made to wait for a table we were all standing around. It was not cold inside despite the harsh conditions out. Tables really close together, was hit twice by other patrons
Always a must for me and my team to come and enjoy the food here. The attention to detail is inspiring. The food, nuances and flavor are spot on. Magnificently executed. The wine menu is curated fabulously, and the service is first class. Always make it a point to make this one of my go to's while in NYC
Loved this restaurant as an early meal before seeing a show. We had the shrimp, goat cheese, steak, brussel sprouts and hamachi between 2 people. I would skip the hamachi next time since it didn't necessarily fit with the palette of the other dishes but everything was delicious and beautifully plated!
The menu was very creative, and packed a lot of flavor. Service was attentive throughout the dinner, even as the dining room started getting crowded. One interesting observation was how quickly the tapas came out. I'm not an expert on tapas restaurants, but each plate came out one by one. Literally minutes after one plate was at or near finished, the next plate would come. Personally, I would have been fine with more than one plate on the table so we could take our time sampling, but I guess the kitchen had a different philosophy? The open dining room was understandably noisy when near capacity, but not so noisy that we couldn't speak across the table. Overall, I'd recommend this to anyone interested in some quality creative tapas.
Waiter was great at recommendations. Food was very good. Tapas style so we were able to try a variety of flavors. Their bar and dining area are not distinct so we sat in a high top table near the bar. Noise level was a bit high but we were still able to have a conversation.
