What Insiders Are Saying
Toro NYC is a bigger, louder, more party-time version of the Boston original. Hit it for the scene and a spoonful of uni, ham, and caviar.
Had another incredible experience at dinner for a friend's birthday. Every time I come to NY I make a point of coming out to dinner here and it never disappoints. Sara was amazing and suggested all the best new dishes, you'd be lucky if you get her! Thanks again for the best dinner I could ask for ❤️
Our server, M, was incredible. My friend, Chef Dante Boccuzzi referred us and it was easily one of the best experiences I’ve had anywhere!!
Excellent food and inventive cocktail list. Very noisy space. Small portions. Huge thanks to the staff, who helped with my friend's food allergies, and were very diligent about making sure that she didn't eat anything she shouldn't have.
Great food, sangria. Responsive service. A little pricey
I recently brought my family here from Korea after dining here once with my boyfriend and they never fail to impress with beautiful ambience and amazing food! The dishes are so stunning and taste phenomenal. Food came out fast as well so there was no long wait. Bone marrow, duck, octopus, and the maize are a must get! Definitely one of my favorite tapas places!
The best Octopus dish I have ever had!
Baddddd service so disappointing. Food was delish. And space was cute. But very frustrating experience
Enjoyed Toro although the entrance was hard find initially. Good food and the venue was buzzing with activity and energy of other patrons. One group was an animated bachelorette party. I was able to catch up with a friend over tasty bites.
Food was overpriced for what we received. Very disappointed. Keep in mind this is the first time I haven’t given a restaurant 5 stars on here. Will not be back.
Great food, great wine
A MUST GO!
Food was good, but pricey for tapas. Overall enjoyed the meal, but expensive.
OK, I truly love the food at Toro - especially the Bocadillo erizos. Add to that the Pulpo and the Hamachi Collar(the crunchy coating added even more flavor and texture) !
My issue is the music and noise. With all the hard surfaces, everyone's conversation gets amplified. I can deal with that. What my wife and I cannot endure is a sound track of mostly loud Rap music on top of the "Din". We could not hear each other speak, and it was just unpleasant to sit thru.
We may have to just experience Toro thru Caviar deliveries going forward.
The Paella was the best one I had outside of Spain. Amazing. Ask about the back bar... pretty cool...
Seating at counter (which you should, more fun).
If you are not sure what to order, we asked the counter chef and end up took all recommendations which turned out great. the must order items are (all serve in small portion): Pressed sandwich of sea urchin with miso butter & mustard seeds, Spanish scarlet prawns, marcona almonds, Bone Marrows, Grilled Iberian pork, & Foie Gras.
I personally think with these 6 tapas and good bottle of wine, you will end up great time there.
Their cocktails are awesome as well.
Nice place - good food & service. Loved the churros!
Great atmosphere. Service was phenomenal and the food was tasty. A bit pricey but definitely worth it
Excellent food and service. We had seats by the kitchen. The chef was very informative on the dishes and in response to our questions.
Only minus is the noise level, which is pretty high.
Will definitely return.
Toro has a good ambiance and the bar area and selection is the best part. Little pricey but it’s what expected from the neighborhood. Paella was a little on the smaller side so tapas before your main course is highly recommended.
The tortilla was cold. The burgers were cold. Not sure how that is too much to ask. When we inquired the server to us , that’s how it’s served. The potato’s were good and the proper temperature.
We had a very good time at Toro. There was a large varied selection of tapas and all of the ones we ordered were very good. Service was great as well as their wine list.
Great food and ambiance - our ordered food didn't come all at ones but slowly one plate at the time so we had time to chat and eat the food while still hot.
Drinks and wine both great too..
Dan at the chef’s counter was terrific. Thank you for your hospitality!
Loved the uni spoon, tuna tartar, bone marrow and the iberico secreto.
I cant wait to come back for the paella!
Friend recommended Toro since we were visiting NYC. We love tapas, which provide a way to taste and experience a variety of selections. Everything we selected (garlic shrimp, octopus and skirt steak) was excellent and the churros and buttermilk ice cream were a great finish. Our server was nice and attentive. Would recommend serving bread as the items we selected had nice sauces and would have been enjoyed further with a bread selection. Restaurant has nice ambiance but was pretty empty as it was a Monday night. We were seated right by the stairs and waiters station when there were many nicer tables with better ambiance available. Our only complaint.
Everything was fantastic, as always! The food was amazing and the staff is always welcoming, kind, and attentive.
Toro is an outstanding Ibero-American fusion tapas restaurant with a winning bar program... Its industrial-chic setting is fashionable without being fussy, a total chill vibe... In spite of all this, the food is still the star of the show... The greatest hits of Spanish tapas are on parade with the occasional Mexican street food thrown in to keep you guessing... The staff was warm and friendly, from the bartender who joked with us to the server that kept my glass of cava full at all times (very important!)... Toro is top notch and I am bidding at the chance to return ASAP! ❤️
Great spot on the west side. We had an early dinner (6:15p) and it wasn't as crowded as I thought it would be. Food was delicious, especially the iberico ham. Can't recommend that enough. Ambiance was very nice too. The restaurant has a lot of windows so there's a good amount of natural light. All in all, this is a great place to have lunch/dinner if you're around the area and want an upgrade from Chelsea Market.
Corporate Cool, i.e., It's not Cool at all. Shabby place, way to load audio. Food and drinks are good. There are now allot of restaurants of this type in NYC. I doubt the owners ever are there. The environment is fabricated without any originality. It is not a condusive place for conversation. It seems it is designed for the "Bridge and Tunnel" crowd.
The service was great. A lot of different servers checking up on us with everything. Service was on point. Compared to the service, food wasn’t that great. Tapa portions were a good size. The Red Sangria was too watery for me. Good drink selection though!
Great sommelier and diverse range of Spanish and French wine!
Service staff was great, awesome wine list, food was well seasoned, cooked properly, texturally pleasing, and visually appealing!
Have been to this place several times but here is my review as of now:
- Good place for group hangout night. It gets pretty loud.
- Foods are good but some of them are too salty.
One bad experience: Reserved the table in advance and the host tried to get us to the table located at the entrance where people constantly go in&out. We asked her if there is any other seat inside but she persisted that the table she got us is only available. I went into restroom and saw many empty spots, wow. Maybe they didn't want us to sit there for some specific reasons?
Joseph- the manager was overly accommodating. Very nice experience!
Great food. The mushroom dish and eggplant dish were amazing! The drinks were fun, creative and tast. The duck drumettes were good but very overpriced.
I love this place! It never disappoints. The cocktails are great. The food is amazing. The staff is first rate, good looking, and fun!
Was there for my birthday dinner. Great, lively ambiance. Service was excellent. Food was very good. Although you know going into it tapas will be small, pretty expensive. But worth the visit.
Great experience in a wonderful place, top notch food, Matts service was spotless fun and very professional.
Will definitely be back with more friends.
The food was amazing. We order small plates and they come out one by one. Allowing to us enjoy each dish.
It was my birthday meal. I love this place. The food is really good. However today the service was less than previous visit. The first time I came here I was blown away by service this time it was ok.
