   The chicken on mashed potatoes for around $60 was dried out as if popped in the micro after sitting in the kitchen. Quinoa salad was fine. Bison burger with bacon jam would have been much improved with some fresh sage, and/or Worcestershire sauce, a little onion. Truffle fries were good. Honey cornbread to start was delicious!    Three of us dined, service was excellent, food was well prepared, we had the papparadle pasta, pork chop and octopus. The octopus was reported to be well seasoned but slightly over cooked. The other two entree’s were both perfectly cooked and delicious.

   Pricing is simply extortionist. We are from NYC and are used to the price of higher end dining, but this place taps into the fact that there is little competition in Snowmass, hotel guests have deep pockets, and when on vacation, one just says “what the hell.” Who charges $69 for a pork chop? Dining room is very tasteful contemporary design. Service was nice. We had to return ceviche starter as it was incredibly fishy tasting. Waitress didn’t quite understand. While she took off our check, would have loved to have seen the chef taste it. Ribeye was very good quality and perfectly cooked, but slathering if butter was not needed. We shared a dessert of three churros with a scoop of ice cream and some dipping sauces—only $17 for a desert! BTW, cocktails started at $22 and went to $27 if you wanted a smoked bourbon drink.

   My husband and I visited Toro while he was attending a conference. The place is warm and beautiful. The service was superb. We had a nice table for two by the window. We ordered Pan Seared Scallops with Pork Belly, Curry Coconut Squash soup, and Cusco Half Chicken; all delicious! We definitely recommend!

   Service was horrible this time. We never got our drinks before dinner. Missing food. Missing drinks. I never complain but there server was out to lunch. Also overpriced. I don’t mind spending money but get it together.

    We had the Valentine’s Day dinner special and everything was exceptionally delicious. The service was impeccable the ambience lovely and it was a total delight. We had the seared scallop appetizer followed by the best steak I have ever had with the mushroom cream sauce and baby lobsters and it was followed by the best dessert ever which was probably a valentine special but whoever the main chef is knows what he or she is doing

    So sad that whoever is in charge of the restaurant did not delegate authority to the restaurant manager or staff to manage one table guest’s behavior. In this case, leaving the 3 & 4 year old children to ride roughshod over the restaurant, pulling and yanking on the restaurant’s brass tightly chained curtains meant to provide decoration and an intimacy setting between tables in the wide expansive dining room. They were running around where the service staff is having to navigate around the ruckus very nearly causing staff or children injury, all the while the young mothers and presumedly the grandpa completely oblivious to their responsibility to keep the children entertained at the table (seated) not leave that responsibility to others! After 30 mins, as a guest paying over $200 for a quality dinner and drinks to wind down after a full day of activities, by myself, I approached the table asking if the responsible adults could help reduce the potential liability of someone getting hurt. Grandpa asked me to not bother them. Haha, the absurdity of the thinking…. All about them and totally disrespectful of other patrons having to put up with the rambunctious behavior. I love children and have 5 grandchildren who at a very young age can understand negotiated behavior where they agree to behave appropriately by the adult agreeing to play with them in the snow afterwards or whatever deal works to incentivize good behavior when needed. These poor children will grow up with no boundaries like these parents. Food was excellent, service was excellent, ambiance and noise ratings were greatly penalized due to these irresponsible and oblivious self-centered (not other-centered) parents. Sad for the service staff to have to put up with this non-sense and not sure why other than lack of authority to say something. I have a restaurant. The parents would be told to leave and the food packaged up to go would be on the house.

    The hostess ruined the whole experience .. we were early, they clearly weren’t busy. It was like the move meet the parents when Ben Stiller was at the airport and no one was there but she made him wait to board. No one was there. Totally unacceptable Very overrated for the price.

    The apps were great, the service so-so, the steak awful. It was our anniversary and we included it our reservation, but nobody made any mention of it. The ribeye was 1/4 cut steak, which is not a ribeye. We left disappointed/.

    Two couples dining. Food and environment was very nice. Server’s general demeanor and attitude was not positive. Did not seem to show really any interest in making the experience at the restaurant any more than “give me your order and I’ll take it to the kitchen”.

    I was surprised by how underwhelming the food was. Service was not very attentive. It took a very long time for our server to check on our table despite it being a very quiet Monday evening. The restaurant is beautiful but the 3 appetizers and 2 cocktails was not worth the 3 figure price.

    7pm on summer Friday. Not crowded-we could pick a table. Highlights were grilled octopus, lobster mac & cheese, Colorado trout and, most spectacular, La Bomba for dessert. Service excellent—Marta was friendly, professional and helpful. Relaxed but elegant setting. All staff, from the parking valet to hostess to wait staff, were excellent—so we felt the rather expensive dinner was well worth it! Our first—but not last—meal at Toro.

    Only negative is automatic 20% service charge added without being told- for party of 4. Management did refund extra gratuity added but we think automatic service charge requires verbal acknowledgement and not just a “red stamp” on the receipt.

    Appetizer was delicious. My entree was good. My husband’s dish was over cooked and dry (we took the server’s advice to get it medium, but it was well done and tough to chew). Server comped it, but added two dishes to the bill that we didn’t order. The server started out pleasant, but her attitude changed when my husband only ordered water. She still got her 20% tip since it’s automatically added to the check. Is this the norm for post pandemic dining now??

    Amazing food and experience except that the restaurant adds 22% gratuity which I missed and tipped another 20% and our waiter did not mention it. I would have expected the waiter to have informed me of gratuity already being included. Which as we were a party of 2 I did not think to check. Other than the tip issue all else was exceptional.

    The food and service were excellent, each course was great. Had the short rib for the main, it’s presentation was excellent, and it was cooked to perfection as well, very flavorful. Ambiance inside the restaurant is very nice for a fireside cocktail, the view from the few outside tables was very nice. I will definitely be back to Toro.
