Toro Kitchen and Lounge Viceroy Snowmass
RIN-eye steak advertised as prime wasn’t even choice.
Food was good, nice decor and live singing, only issue we had was I ordered my kids food 10 minutes before my own ( I do that regularly as kids get antsy and hungry) my food came out first , so I told them to bring it back until the kids food was ready ( they did do that) , any family friendly restaurant should understand this.
Part of the reason we choose to stay at the Viceroy is Toro. Love the on site restaurant whether for casual breakfast or a dinner date.
Madelyn our server was wonderful. She makes the best sweet tea! The steaks were cooked to perfection and the sea bass was delicious. We loved every bite of two appetizers, four entrees, three desserts and several alcoholic drinks. This meal was not inexpensive but worth every bite. Great way for us to end our EPIC 2020 ski trip to Snowmass!
Terrible service. We ordered appetizers and before we could finish them they came to remove the dishes saying our main course was coming. The main course shows up before we finish our appetizers so we send the main course back to the kitchen. No one comes over to apologize or explain. When the main course comes the food is overcooked and dry (especially the fish). No one comes to check on the food served. Had to repeatedly ask for water glass to be refilled. Feel sorry for the people staying at the viceroy since the only restaurant there. Won’t see me back at Toro again. State 38 has much better food, ambience and service - a much better value not to far from the Viceroy.
The service was really quite poor this past Sunday. It was so disappointing. Food was just so so. it was our second time to eat there in one week, and we’ve never had a poor experience. This was definitely a surprise. It’s was like visiting two different restaurants.
We’ve been to toro several times and absolutely love it! The churros are the absolute best!
We had a very nice dinner of apps. Short rib tacos are excellent. The ceviche was also very good and the brussels sprouts salad was terrific. My wife liked the grilled octopus more than I. Everything about 15% more expensive than it should be .. even in a mountain town.
Best food in The Valley. The chef is extremely creative and innovative. The food was cooked perfectly. No better restaurant in The Valley..
The drinks and appetizers were delicious, but the steak was cooked to almost a medium well and we ordered medium rare... when the main course for a birthday dinner is not cooked to order at a steakhouse it is disappointing. I thought more (anything) could have been done to remedy the situation.
A disappointment. Food was mediocre and service was slow.
This was our 3rd year for Toro and it was so far the best. It seems they have been working behind the scenes to improve what was already the best high end restaurant experience in Snowmass. As usual, our table was waiting when we arrived. We chose to enjoy a cocktail at the fireplace beforehand and found the bar selections expansive for the refined taste. The service was spot-on but never bothersome. There were six in our party and everyone enjoyed their entrees. The lamb chops were my favorite and cooked to perfection.
We always save Toro for our last night as a way to celebrate a fantastic ski trip to a fantastic restaurant.
See you again!
Fabulous modern layout with comfy spacious bar/casual eating space. Good magaritas
Dining Staff need further training. No sharing plates provided for shared apertiser. Used side plates provided for bread. No new cutlery after apertiser. Entree arrived & dirty plates & cutlery still in front of us. Servers were actually trying to put them on the already crowded table. Thankfully someone rushed in & did some clearing. Hence my 4 star rating
The food we had was largely fabulous. Recommend the octopus apertiser, black cod chowder & black cod with miso (although asparagus accompaniment way overcooked). Lobster enchilada was not good & did not hero the main ingredient. Sommelier very knowledgeable & ended up with a great bottle of red
Service was good! Food was excellent! Drinks were good too!
although the Hotel Viceroy is well located and very well decorated, the restaurant was not up to par. service was poor and the food was very low grade for the price being. charged and the level the Hotel wishes to project.
Sweet server but super slow and cold steak which I did not send back for fear of another 45 minutes. The pat of butter never melted. It was that cold. Excellent dessert and ceviche. Large room that doesn’t feel so amazing. Would only eat there if I stayed in that hotel.
I have eaten here for several years and like the food and service much improved they have done a great job
The food is quite good and there are plenty of meat and fish options, though not much for vegetarians (unless you order a bunch of sides). We ended up waiting 90 minutes for our food but enjoyed plenty of great wines (sommelier recommendation, who is a charismatic and nice guy - Peter!) and our waiter was super congenial and apologetic, as was the manager, Elizabeth. There may be some kitchen issues (new team not working together so smoothly) hence our wait for the food but when it arrived, it was great. Desserts are excellent. Would suggest dining at a not so busy time of the year...
Christmas Eve dinner so we had kids with us. The waiter talks us into ordering mains on top of the apps we ordered as mains-then forgot to bring 3 of the dishes. When we asked for the missing dishes, they came immediately and were super hot from the warming lights. They took them off the bill. Mis-communication. But they made sure to add gratuity to our bill-that we missed. So the got double!
Great meal and service.
Awesome! Delicious fresh food, unparalleled service.
Great ambiance , food was ok but pricy, service was fair.
Mixed drinks that are not on the menu are below average in taste. The lamb chop was very grisly and definitely not worth $65 price. Service was just ok. Overall, we were disappointed. This was our third year dining here and this was the first year that we were unhappy with our dining experience.
The food was delicious and our server was delightful - conscientious and efficient and attentive.
Their stir fry quinoa was best vegetarian dish we’ve ever had. Also the bbq salmon and the salads we’re excellent.
They need to learn how to cook a NY Strip to med rare temp - esp if they’re going to try and charge $42. The staff was robotic. No passion for food or hospitality - sterile - like Kitchen Nightmares waiting to happen.
No one is ever in the restaurant and yet the service is the worst. Food is great.
Busy, yet our waiter (Matt) was great!
Great view and great breakfast
It was the waitresses first night so the service will improve - we waited a long time for our desert and luckily my husband when he went to check in on it saw the desert chef drop the desert on the ground and then re-plate it - he saw that so we cancelled the desert and left - asking them to take the desert off the bill which we were still charged for - going there in season might be a crazy wait time - order breakfast for dinner
Food was overpriced but fabulous! Service virtually nonexistent. Restaurant was empty
Good food and friendly service. I enjoyed my steak! Very nice house Pinot noir.
We've had two very good dining experiences here in the past few days, while staying at the Viceroy. Some of the food (e.g., Cusco Chicken) is rather spicy, without any menu warning, so that's something to watch. The desserts are particularly good, especially the chocolate flan!
I ate here three times during my stay, mostly because it was the only available option nearby. The food was disappointing though, including quesadillas which were soggy and dripping, and a Caesar salad with way too much dressing. Both are simple creations and could have been executed better.
The food and service were absolutely top notch.
They did not tell us before we ordered that it was their last night before closing for a month. several of the items we ordered were missing key ingredients and the fish was not fresh. We were very disappointed.
Good service, good food selections, good wine selections. Decor is a bit eccentric.
The food continues to be fantastic at Toro. Some of the best scallops I have ever had in my life! The host was a bit of a snob with an attitude!
Great meal and love the ambiance.
