   By far, the most creative, friendly, and delicious Japanese restaurant in Carmel and one of the top two in the Monterey Peninsula. We are regulars and whenever we bring friends, they love it. Adding to the inventive dishes is probably the best saki menu I've seen this side of Japan.

   Omakase for 2 on a Sunday included large, fresh melt in your mouth cuts of fatty belly salmon, hamachi and toro. The hokkaido uni and scallop were so delicious the fish even outshined the waygu strips on our tasting. The fresh high quality fish we were expecting but the fantastic value was a welcome surprise for the area. Chef was personable and amazing and their staff very accommodating. We'll be dreaming of going back!

   Best sushi in Carmel. Dress warmly because indoor seating is limited, but heat lamps make the patio relatively comfortable.

    The staff was so polite and helpful. Our special request to come earlier than our reservation was honored easily and Marty’ response to us of “welcome home” was truly appropriate. Everyone was right there, the food was excellent, and we will definitely go back again and again!

    Standard Japanese fare. Food is fresh. We enjoyed the sashimi chef selection. Rolls were ok - there was mayonnaise mixed in the snow crab of the california roll. We had a vegetarian one with mushrooms what was fine. Seaweed salad was expected. Agadashi tofu was well fried. It was a nice break from eating upscale California.

    We have never had a bad meal there… everything they cook up is delicious… even dishes I don’t care for much, and I wouldn’t eat at other sushi places I will definitely eat at Toros. They are that good! They are always super pleasant… excellent service… and they love dogs!

    Took 50 minutes to get our food, Patty of 4 restaurant wasn’t busy we were the only table. Sashimi didn’t taste fresh, Romain lettuce In salad was turning yellow and welted. Salmon was over cooked dried. We are local but won’t be returning.

    My kids and I have pretty high standards for sushi eating. But this restaurant blue is away the wait staff were incredibly attentive and friendly. The salmon carpaccio was to die for the chicken. Katsu was off the grid. If you love sushi, an excellent place to go, would be here

    We brought our family here for them to share in amazing sushi! We had several Nigeria pieces, the Philadelphia roll, cucumber salad (cannot recall the name) and green tea! It was all so delicious. Our waitress was very attentive and answered any/all questions we had. We will most definitely be back! This place is the best hands down we’ve had in Monterey/Carmel.

    Very disappointing given the positive reviews. Only time I’ve ever had a sushi meal that I couldn’t finish. The fish quality was mediocre and not cut properly (large, rectangular chunks - I’ve never seen fish prepared this way at a sushi restaurant before). Salmon and mackerel were okay, but the tuna and toro didn’t taste fresh, even though they may have been. Ordered a chirashi bowl and miso soup. It was a lot of food for the price, but very poor quality / execution and not properly prepared. It’s sushi you’d expect from a landlocked area with no real sushi culture, not from a coastal town in CA within spitting distance of SF. Maybe rolls are the thing to get here.
