About this restaurant

Toro, in Boston, helmed by James Beard Award-winning chef, Ken Oringer, serves delectable Spanish tapas dishes in its contemporary and charming restaurant. The tortilla Española with a kale, egg, potato and onion omelet and the Boquerón's white anchovies in vinegar and olive oil make excellent pintxos starters. Some of Toro's most vibrant and delectable tapas plates include the chicken empanada de pollo with charred tomato salsa, the salt cod fritter croquettes de Bacalao with tempura lemon rings and the asado de huesos roasted bone marrow with oxtail marmalade. Equally inventive cocktails, such as the morning star with spicy gin, dark rum, citrus and ginger beer and the tinto de verano with red wine mixed with lemon-lime soda.

Toro's weekend brunch plates include the salchicha y huevos jalapeno maple sausage, fried eggs and crispy potatoes and along with other plates, make it a prime brunch spot.

Decent food tho not as good as i remember it to be and smaller portions than in years past. Good date spot vibe wise but wish music was just a bit less loud.

Talk about underwhelming. When I go to a highly rated restaurant, I expect to be excited by the creativity, adventurous dishes, and unique flavor combinations. What I got was plate after plate of food I could recreate at home very easily, and I am not an award winning chef. Why did the empanada taste like it had refried bean seasoning in it? Why was the bread clearly store bought, and not the good kind either but the generic brand? Why was a small plate of ham that wasn’t anything special $24? What a disappointing, expensive experience.

Apparently booked a table at the bar, which literally meant the bar, not bar tables. For 5 people, it was very awkward. And for 5 people, why would the actual bar be an actual option. We haven’t seen out our daughter for the first time in 5 months, needless to say it was not the dining experience expected. Service was great, but unfortunately the food was mediocre, ordered pan con tomate, seafood paella, grilled octopus, ribs, but corn, crudo and steak were good.

Great variety and every dish was excellent. Efficient and friendly service. Loud so difficult to hear if with a large group.

First time dining at Toro. My wife and I both have our hair styled at “Anita Kurl Salon” across the street. We decided to make a night of it after my wife had her hair cut and styled this past Friday. We arrived a little early for our 8:15 reservation but the maitre de accommodated us and sat us outside on a balmy Friday evening. It was lovely. The food was incredible from start to finish. The smoked duck, the corn, the oysters, the potato and egg dish and our desserts were all fabulous! Our server was phenomenal! Friendly, attentive, funny and informative. We will be back, with more friends and family, for our next visit!

I’ve been to Toro several times and the meal is always very delicious. The plates are smaller than some other tapas places but that’s great because you don’t walk away feeling too full. I really love the paella, the gambas, the tortilla espanola and the pan con tamate.
