Fantastic, authentic, amazing staff and a fun unique experience
Great food and service! I'll be back soon for sure!
Food was excellent and servers paid attention to our specifications which is no organs (chicken heart, gizzard, etc.) for my friend. They replaced it with different skewer and my friends—who are visiting—were so happy. Even if it’s a busy night, the chefs made it to a point to serve us our skewers which is truly a Japanese omotenashi. Plus their dessert’s the bomb! 😋👌🏻♥️ Can’t wait to go back!
PS. I recommend to dine either early dinner like 6PM or by 8PM to avoid crazy busy dining hall.
Best yakitori I have ever had. Authentic decor and food. Service was very good. It is on the expensive side but is worth it. I will definitely come back.
food was so delicately made and great taste, service is really nice
WE will be back here without a doubt. The preparation and ingredients were outstandingly high. It was a wonderful experience and delicious.
The best dish was the tartare however the remainder of the dishes either lacked salt or flavor.
Sent message to management and still haven’t heard back. Shame.
Outstanding yakitori and tasting menu. Delivered expertly and executed beautifully. Ate for a business lunch. Also an incredible value, the Toriko meal could be priced for twice as much. Each dish a work of art. I will be back every time I visit NYC.
Really enjoyed it! I will be there soon!
I went to Toriko for my fiancé’s birthday. We ordered the omakase tasting menu and a bottle of wine. The food was not bad but they seem very disorganized. There is only one person behind the grill and they look like they are constantly scrambling and trying to figure out who ordered what. I had to pull up the tasting menu on my phone to make sure they served everything that’s included. They missed the king crab dish and we had to remind them. When I made the reservation, I had specified it’s the male guest’s birthday and we would like to order the birthday platter, again, I had to remind them as it looked like everyone was cleaning up for closing already and we still haven’t gotten our platter. To add on, the waiter brought our check over and doubled the price of the wine we ordered and claimed it was a “glitch”. Always double check your check!! They have to a lot of improvements to work on .
We reserved a seat table, not bar. But the waiter led us to the bar table without any explanation. The food was delicious, but the wait was tooooooo long! We waited for 30 minutes from one course to next course. After the dinner, we even found out the chef didn’t serve us one of the course listed in the menu. We recommend the manager to hire more employees to better serve customers.
Great tasting menu, DO reserve if you plan to not have to wait, seating is limited.
definitely; we did the tasting menu at the counter, outside of the fact was amazing in taste and preparation, the timing and spacing between dishes, the order of which the dishes were presented, was very thoughtful and spot on.
extremely satisfying dining experience.
We had reservation for lunch on 6:/30 by using open table.
And we were modified at that time when we reached the restaurant.
This was so surprised for us and then we should change our plan even though we expected to enjoy our lunch at this restaurant.
We know this restaurant is one of the greatest Yakitori restaurants in US. We hope that based on this experience
they will reconsider how to handle reservations and should improve it very near future.
A great, authentic-feeling Japanese yakitori scene where you can go with an Omakase experience that will actually leave you full and satisfied. Paired with sake, this made for an intimate, delicious, and immersive dining experience in a quiet environment.
Amazing amazing amazing
Amazing service. Amazing knowledge.
Awesome food and relaxing environment!
The amuse bouche were incredible. The chicken was perfectly cooked from simple breast to complex heart. Service was professional. polite, and friendly. Best Yakitori I have had in 5 years and Yakitori is my go to birthday treat.
Pricey - food was good. The tasting menu consists of only chicken skewers : for what you can find elsewhere. I would have preferred a la carte.
Because we had reserved we could only get the tasting menu. It was delicious, but they seemed to have decimated the chicken population with about 6 or more chicken dishes: thighs, hearts, breast, ground and more. More variation would have been welcome especially after the extraordinary 4 dish amuse-bouche.
Lovely place and impeccable service. Worth the price.
We had a fantastic meal at Toriko. We sat at the counter, on the side, so were able to see a bit of the grilling and preparation of the skewers, and one of chefs was particularly attentive and friendly. We enjoyed every part of the Omakase set and found our skewers to be really well cooked, especially the chicken. The drinks we had were lovely, as well. Highly recommend for a special experience!
Food is great, service is incredibly slow and disorganized
Excellent food and service! Some of the most tender and juicy chicken I’ve had ever
Verybnice setting and enjoyed the various skewers they provided. Definitely authentic and will repeat!
Dinner with friends.
It’s was okay... really just okay. Had the toriko menu (just appetizers and skewers). The breast meat was a bit overdone and the wasabi was bland. The sauce for the chicken oyster overpowered the chicken. The hearts, chicken wing, and neck meat tasted good. The liver was... well tasted just like liver. They were also missing some typical Japanese skewers that day too (on a Friday evening). The appetizers were very good - especially the cup of chicken broth and the chawanmushi was soft and tender. Overall, okay.
Only issue was server left cork from bottle in the wine on uncorking.
There was an obnoxious group of people there and no one handled the situation. It was an unpleasant dining experience filled with screaming drunk people next to us. The food was good.
I am a Japanese and I know when I have good Yakitori.
This is good stuff and the course is great. Get the 85 one, much better cost prof wise.
If you like parts that run out quickly, get there by 6pm.
I had a good time at Toriko. The The sous chef Irene was talkative, knowledgeable and personable, and the chef working the yakitori was focused and produced some great skewers, though chicken was a little over-represented. I’m adventurous when it comes to which parts of an animal I’ll Try so I hope to see something a little more out there than chicken hearts and gizzards next time. As far as service goes, you could tell that the chefs were getting a bit frustrated with the wait staff who were competent, but didn’t seem to have their hearts into it as much as the two preparing the food. I don’t mind waiting for drinks, but seeing the chefs plead with their eyes to get their hard work out to tables hot and on time hurt me! Small details like that matter in such an intimate setting. I’ll return for the food for sure, but I’ll Save that fifth star for when the wait staff can get their game face on.
The food was great and service was superb
I can’t say enough about Toriko. Amazing food, staff, and experience. Sit at the bar and enjoy!
Made a reservation back in December for the counter and were seated at a table. I reminded the restaurant twice that we booked a counter seat and both times I was told that they had it noted.
We also were not told about the $100 menu for VDay. I thought it was the regular omakase price until the day before when I was sent a photo of the menu with the price listed.
Food was mediocre, skewers were good but truffle rice dish sort of tasteless. Oysters could have been chilled more.
Ambiance was fun overall.
We reserved counter seating months in advance for a special occasion. The seating process was stressful and messy, and we were not sat at the counter. Food is good but not worth the stress!
