This is one of our favorite restaurants. I took my wife and my in-laws here and we all each got the tasting menus. They got Yakitori and I got Kushiyaki. The service is excellent and staff is friendly. The chicken is fresh, they butcher new chickens in front of you daily and then keep the skewers fresh in the fridge until its time to cook them. The menu is amazing. I can't recommend this place highly enough.
Hello there, Thank you so much for taking the time to write this. We're honored to be one of your favorite restaurants, and we're glad you enjoyed the experience. We look forward to seeing you all again!
Amazing food, love the updated options on the menu
This is my second time at this restaurant. The first time I sat at the counter and it was a smooth and delicious dining experience. This time, my husband and I were hosting another couple. The service (besides the Somm who was excellent - personable, knowledgeable, helpful) was really off. I had to ask for things multiple times before receiving them, water glasses were not refilled without asking a couple of times, one of the servers were surly with us for no clear reason (maybe just having a bad day), and we had to ask several times for the check. The food is so good it makes enduring bad service worth it, but next time if we go I will definitely go back to the counter.
Excellent food. Great choices and if making a decision is not what you are into, the chef does a great job of that for you! Every yakitori stick was better than the last. Then the matcha creme brûlée was one of the best desserts I’ve ever had.
Amazing quality (just like a yakitori shop in Tokyo), yet affordable
Counter seating was not that exciting. We didn’t get any giblets as part of the tasting. Took way longer than necessary for tasting menu, hence, lots of waiting between course. Not impressive at all.
All services we got were professional and awesome. Food was great and not pricey at all. Toriko NY is def the restaurant I would love to recommend to all my friends.
hire more people
The dishes here are too salty for us, but the dining experience is great overall.
Amazing experience! Went for restaurant week. The service was impeccable. And of course...probably best chicken in the city. Sit at the counter!
A delightful start to NYC Restaurant Week at Toriko MY. NYCRW dinner menu displays all of their strengths. While there is music playing you can have easy conversation. Nice sake selection too. Highly recommended
Fantastic experience at Toriko
I liked the special Toriko course with the lobster but I cant say I would recommend it , I think their Omakase course and their Kushiyaki course are probably just as good food for your money. The wagyu that they put with the Omakase course is better also, I think. Our food came out quickly and it was all very good. They even gave us an extra yakitori course which was nice of them, because my wife didnt like the “soft bone” skewer they served us.
Hi there, Thanks so much for taking the time to write this review. We're glad you had a pleasant experience, and we hope to see you again!
Great fixed menu. So many flavours. Outstanding evening!
I often eat brunch at Toriko, but this year tried the tasting menu on both CHristmas Eve and New Year's Eve. Price was good, as was the quantity and quality of the food. The only minor downsides were that there were a couple of tasting items I didn't care for and the recommended 4 sake pairing was disappointing. SInce I like Toriko's standards sake offerings, I think I'll just order from that menu next time.
I love this place on quiet weekends but I went at night for the first time with my brother and it was not as good. It was loud and crowded and our omakase meals took 3 hours to complete, whereas whenever I have come before it usually is no more than 2 hours. They also served us two chicken gizzards after we both specifically told them we didnt want chicken gizzards and we sent them back. The order of our yakitori course got all messed up because of that. Usually a 5 star experience here but this night felt more like 3-4 stars unfortunately. I will just stick to coming here on quiet lunches.
Fantastic, authentic, amazing staff and a fun unique experience
Great food and service! I'll be back soon for sure!
Food was excellent and servers paid attention to our specifications which is no organs (chicken heart, gizzard, etc.) for my friend. They replaced it with different skewer and my friends—who are visiting—were so happy. Even if it’s a busy night, the chefs made it to a point to serve us our skewers which is truly a Japanese omotenashi. Plus their dessert’s the bomb! 😋👌🏻♥️ Can’t wait to go back!
PS. I recommend to dine either early dinner like 6PM or by 8PM to avoid crazy busy dining hall.
Best yakitori I have ever had. Authentic decor and food. Service was very good. It is on the expensive side but is worth it. I will definitely come back.
food was so delicately made and great taste, service is really nice
WE will be back here without a doubt. The preparation and ingredients were outstandingly high. It was a wonderful experience and delicious.
The best dish was the tartare however the remainder of the dishes either lacked salt or flavor.
Sent message to management and still haven’t heard back. Shame.
Outstanding yakitori and tasting menu. Delivered expertly and executed beautifully. Ate for a business lunch. Also an incredible value, the Toriko meal could be priced for twice as much. Each dish a work of art. I will be back every time I visit NYC.
Really enjoyed it! I will be there soon!
I went to Toriko for my fiancé’s birthday. We ordered the omakase tasting menu and a bottle of wine. The food was not bad but they seem very disorganized. There is only one person behind the grill and they look like they are constantly scrambling and trying to figure out who ordered what. I had to pull up the tasting menu on my phone to make sure they served everything that’s included. They missed the king crab dish and we had to remind them. When I made the reservation, I had specified it’s the male guest’s birthday and we would like to order the birthday platter, again, I had to remind them as it looked like everyone was cleaning up for closing already and we still haven’t gotten our platter. To add on, the waiter brought our check over and doubled the price of the wine we ordered and claimed it was a “glitch”. Always double check your check!! They have to a lot of improvements to work on .
We reserved a seat table, not bar. But the waiter led us to the bar table without any explanation. The food was delicious, but the wait was tooooooo long! We waited for 30 minutes from one course to next course. After the dinner, we even found out the chef didn’t serve us one of the course listed in the menu. We recommend the manager to hire more employees to better serve customers.
Great tasting menu, DO reserve if you plan to not have to wait, seating is limited.
definitely; we did the tasting menu at the counter, outside of the fact was amazing in taste and preparation, the timing and spacing between dishes, the order of which the dishes were presented, was very thoughtful and spot on.
extremely satisfying dining experience.
We had reservation for lunch on 6:/30 by using open table.
And we were modified at that time when we reached the restaurant.
This was so surprised for us and then we should change our plan even though we expected to enjoy our lunch at this restaurant.
We know this restaurant is one of the greatest Yakitori restaurants in US. We hope that based on this experience
they will reconsider how to handle reservations and should improve it very near future.
A great, authentic-feeling Japanese yakitori scene where you can go with an Omakase experience that will actually leave you full and satisfied. Paired with sake, this made for an intimate, delicious, and immersive dining experience in a quiet environment.
Amazing amazing amazing
