My wife and I went for Valentines Day! We arrived early for our 515pm reservation to have a cocktail. The restaurant is very tastefully decorated. Nice bar with good selections of cocktails and wine. We were greeted promptly. However, the bartender very pleasant but inexperienced and slow and they were not yet busy. Once we sat at our table, I could see that it was just not the bartender that was inexperienced. Our server was very pleasant and helpful, but did not know how to properly handle wine service at the table. The menu was special for Valentine’s Day. Started with a carrot hummus which was Ok once they corrected the issue with the first hummus they gave us. It was obvious the servers and kitchen were not being diligent when prepping and serving the food. Once that was corrected the food was much better. For the first course we had the salmon crude and sunchoate soup. Soup was good and salmon was excellent. The main course we had the ribeye and scallops. Both were very good. Dessert was a black Forrest cake with bing cherry which was good. Over all the inexperienced service needs to step it up to catch up to the quality of the food and prices. Again, the staff was very pleasant but inexperienced. One example, we had our bottle of wine delivered, were not offered a tasting before the server poured. After that the server never came back to check and pour wine again. It is those type of things that need to be addressed given the price point. Once the quality of the service meets the quality of the food the value will be higher. We will comeback as all the issues can be addressed as the staff becomes more experienced.

A little chaotic- had new server that didn't know menu yet and the menu is vague in description.

Great new restaurant in Travelers Rest. Love the farm to table genre and would like to see even more organic choices. Definitely recommend!

Visited during restaurant week. The 3 for $30 was a good deal the food was very tasty. It wasn't superb so I gave it 4 stars. If 4 1/2 were available...

Greeter & owner Karen was most gracious and server Christopher was spot on with his menu selections. Great food, great service!

Fantastic food and a great menu! Decent portion sizes depending on what you order. Excellent service and wonderful atmosphere.

There was live music at the Sunday brunch we went to. It was perfect and unobtrusive.

Very disappointed in Topsoil based upon what I had heard. The food was average at best with NO presentation effort what so ever....no color......minimal protein and a ton of carbs. When the highlight is the crackers and they are the only leftovers you bring home might say something. Service was slow and very disjointed. No plans to return any time soon.

There were a number of menu items we wanted to try. We had the breakfast sandwich. Our meal was very good. Our server was very attentive and provided excellent service. It did get a little noisy from the table next to us. Overall we enjoyed it and plan on going back.

Love what they’re doing at Topsoil and rate it among the most innovative new restaurants in our area. The staff is excellent and food is very good and consistent. Emphasis on great ingredients and flexibility in delivering plant based options when that’s the preference. Think of it as great chef’s without the ego of insisting you take as they intended. Long live Topsoil!

First time visit and we were treated to a wonderful experience. The service was impeccable and the food was delicious. The new decor is charming and is right at home for Travelers Rest. It will become a regular dining spot for us!
