Fantastic meal with even better service
I have eaten at this restaurant half a dozen times and every time the food and service have been excellent. I highly recommend the meatballs, so far my favorites. Recently I treated a rather large group of friends and the bill was quite small, and we even took some food home. One of my guests congratulated me on my selection of restaurant and we were all happy with the quiet ambience of the place.
Thank you for your continue support, we are glad our food and service contributed to a successful gathering.
The food and service was simply fabulous. The waiter was attentive and kind. I would highly recommend a visit to the Top Spanish Cafe. I cannot wait to return!
Thank you, we glad your group had a grood time with us!
Had an absolutely amazing experience here for a Bachelorette party dinner. They were great with our group of 12, provided excellent service and reccomendations. Exceeded all expectations! Highly recommend!
Thank you for your review. We are glad your group enjoyed the time with us! Congratulation on your nuptial!
Food was very good, service was very good, romantic atmosphere
Thank you, Edskilove!
Great paella marinera
Thank you, DonD!
I have eaten several times already in this restaurant and the food is superb and the service very courteous and useful. I have ordered pretty much the same dish all the times (meatballs, fantastic), but i have tried samples from other dishes in my table. Probably my second favorite is churrasco.
Thank you Cblancom, we appreciate you review and continue patronage!
Best Spanish food in town - great wines - and all inexpensive!
Thank you Lebecfin! We appreciate your review.
A lovely neighborhood restaurant with terrific food, friendly service and good drinks. A very welcoming European ambiance. We really enjoyed our meal.
ApolloDines, Thank you!
Tasty tapas for quick inexpensive dinner! We visited on a quiet night (right before Thanksgiving) and enjoyed authentic Spanish tapas with excellent cocktail and wine options. The server was knowledgeable about the menu and provided sound advice about ordering (portion size etc.). I definitely recommend.
Thank you, Parkeast. We appreciate your review!
Don't let the plain storefront and old school decor fool you, the food here was delicious and the service was excellent. We had some delicious tapas (the garlic shrimp was fantastic, in particular) and a seafood paella that tasted just like one I had in Spain. We had a great evening. If they were to make the place a little hipper looking ala the new Petworth, it would be packed all the time. For now consider it lucky that you can get there while it's still a little off the map, so to speak.
MichaelO, Thank you!
The paella and octopus are amazing. We always have a great meal here.
Thank you dcJJ!
I'm struggling to understand why this place isn't crazy. Great food, excellent wine. Chef is out talking to patrons. I'm stuck. I want it to be busier but not crazy.
I had no idea such an impressive Spanish restaurant had been hiding in plain site on Georgia Ave all this time. The food, service, ambience, etc were all on point. As soon as we walked in it reminded me of being back in Madrid at one of the traditional bistros hidden away on one of the many pedestrian streets/alleys that give Spain's capital city it's charm. We were not disappointed with the food at all either. The appetizers/tapas (patatas bravas with a spicy kick, mushrooms in a rich garlic broth) and the paellas (vegetarian and seafood) were excellently done and very satisfying. The Sherry cocktails (mine was a twist on the mojito, recommended by our server) were very refreshing and didn't feel forced at all (i.e. very balanced flavors). The service was very personalized and attentive without being cloying. I highly recommend it to anyone who has walked by a thousand times and wondered if this place is legit. I think the name and the suggestion of "Tex/Mex" on the sign out front might throw some people off but, trust me, try it and you won't be disappointed!
Stopped in for a quick dinner with my wife and our daughter who lives in Petworth and had a lovely experience. The proprietor was kind and welcoming. The menu is broad, featuring all your favorite traditional tapas as well as some larger plates. We enjoyed some very good sangria and the Octopus, Patatas Bravas, Tortilla Espanola, Mushrooms al Ajillo and Catalan spinach tapas. Our server brought us some delicious toasted bread that we could dip into nicely seasoned olive oil. In a very sweet touch, we were treated to a little glass of Port as a parting gift. Overall, a very solid meal served with kindness and civility.
Top Spanish is a great and not well-known place. For true "comida casera" Spanish food, this is the place. Hands down the best paella in town. The staff are so friendly and welcoming, you feel like you're in any bar in Spain. Truly bringing a Spain feel to the Petworth neighborhood.
Very nice restaurant, excellent food and service. A real gem for the neighborhood that serves authentic Spanish food. The seafood paella was outstanding!
We had a lovely evening at this restaurant. The classic tapas plates were delicious, especially the meatballs, the croquetas, and the Iberian ham and cheeses. The service can’t be beat, and the food was very reasonably priced. This restaurant is a gem just waiting to be discovered!
Great food - we had both tapas and paella. Extremely helpful, friendly staff.
This is a wonderful restaurant. The food is amazing!
Tapas were big and tasteful, shrimps and tenderloins were outstanding, the seafood paella was the best I’ve never eaten in the city.
There on Mother’s Day. Fabulous, authentic Spanish food. Reasonably priced and delicious. Have to go back for the Spanish croquettes, but the seafood was good, pork tenderloin delectable, and drinks perfect. Highly recommend this place. Right on Georgia Ave in Petworth - who knew?
The Tapas and meet were excellent minus the paella
We enjoyed our meal at this restaurant. It is located in a changing neighborhood so don’t be put off by the location. They had a nice tapas menu. We’d return.
My wife and I had a lovely birthday dinner, sun streaming through the windows on the beautiful golden walls. Terrific service, delicious food and wine, and legit Spanish (owned by Spaniards.)
The staff was super friendly and caring. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant and intend to go back. The food was great and the prices were reasonable. Loved it!
The food is exquisite at this Georgia Ave gem! Every tapas dish was delicious. On a few other visits, I have had the seafood paella, which is tip notch, with high quality seafood and wonderful flavors. Daniel has an incredible knowledge of sherry from his homeland, so be sure to enjoy this delicate Spanish beverage as well!
Great tapas! We made some selections and the server recommended a couple that were very good. Nice selection of vegetarian options. The lighting was pretty bright for an evening meal so the ambiance was just okay.
What a hidden gem in the Georgia Ave/Petworth. Great tapas, paella, a nice selection of sherries and a thoughtful wine list.
With 7 in our party we were able to sample a number of dishes and thoroughly enjoyed all of them. Hospitality and service were excellent.
