Top of Waikiki - Revolving Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
I would recommend this place to tourists only or guests visiting the island. The food is sub par. Very mediocre. Nothing stood out at all. My order came out wrong in two ways and had to wait to correct it. Nothing offered as compensation. I’ve been to other revolving restaurants around the world and this one was not memorable. It’s unfortunate too because we live here.
The overall astetics appear dated and in need of overall renovation. Large dinning space that was very understaffed. Requesting a window view regardless of how busy they may or may not be is futile being that they don’t have enough staff to cover the space, and insist on grouping all tables in one small area. With a reservation, still waited almost 30 min for a table in a restaurant that was half empty.
The views from the tower were amazing with our dinner around sunset. I wish the sun had gone down later so we didn’t have to eat at 5:30pm, but that isn’t the restaurant’s fault.
Towards the end of our dinner, our waiter seemed to be getting weeded with too many tables.
The butter cake desert didn’t have much flavor, the best part of the dessert was the gelato on top.
Great filet mignon!! We changed mash potoes for fingerling potatoes which I love. Asparagus cooked just right. Husband had beet salad and crab cakes instead of main entree which was really tasty and very filling. Darren our waiter was attentive, friendly and willing to answer our many questions even though pretty busy that night. Would definitely go back and recommend to friends.
Disappointing dinner. Wait staff rushed us through leaving the dessert menu under my husbands arm when we were not even finished with dinner. They made very clear when making reservations of the dress code. Upon arriving we noticed several people with shorts , tee shirts and flip flops...and they were tabled right next to us. The view was the only positive memorable experience . It was loud, kids running around, and the food was mediocre. We had been to the restaurant years before and the quality of food , service and ambience has severely declined. Too pricey and no longer an exceptional elegant dining experience. This will be our last visit. Too many other fine dining choices in Waikiki to waste a night here.
Top of Waikiki for our last night in Honolulu? Excellent! I requested Tier 2 for the absolute best view of the sunset and Waikiki beach. We dined on filet and lobster, scallops and speciality salads, and splurged with decadent desserts such as Baked Alaska, Molten Lava Cake, Crème Brulee and Apple Pie. It was all absolutely perfect EXCEPT for the cold coffee. How can you have cold coffee after dinner? (I only put this in for the restaurant manager!) Otherwise, it was Grade A perfect! As foodies and cruisers, we know good food and good service. The service lacked at the end, since our waiter had a 21 person table, which became our problem i.e. no waiter. This was so close, so close to perfect. Anyway, I don't mean to be too picky: I would recommend this to anyone! It is not cheap, but oh so worth it!
Fantastic service from Tihati, our server. A staff member checked on us frequently enough that we never felt left out. The food was excellent - we had the prixe fixe and the miso ribeye with lobster - all prepared perfectly and tasted so heavenly. Definitely visit again on our next trip to Honolulu.
Great service from beginning to end! We were seated promptly and our host wished my mom happy birthday after he gave us our menus! (When I made reservations online, I mentioned we were celebrating my mom’s birthday.) I really loved that and so did my mom. Our waiter, Dan, showed up fairly quickly after that and also wished my mom happy birthday! He also answered all our questions about the menu. Even offered to take our picture if needed! Our drinks and appetizer showed up super quick. The goat cheese ragoons were delicious! Our main course showed up at the perfect time; as soon as we were done with the apps. My mom said her filet mignon was top notch and cooked perfectly. My pork chop was amazingly delicious! I ate every bite. Our water glasses were never empty and our empty plates were promptly picked up. I love that the restaurant has a professional photographer who walks around taking everyone’s pictures. $25 for one of the printed pictures or $40 for 2 prints. You also get a code on the bottom of the photos so you can go online and get a digital copy. We enjoyed the revolving floor so you can see all over Waikiki. Thankfully it doesn’t go too fast, since we’re both super sensitive to motion sickness. We ordered their famous apple pie for dessert and they brought it out with a candle for my mom to blow out. The perfect touch!!! The apple pie and vanilla gelato were so yummy! The perfect way to end our little celebration. I couldn’t of picked a better place for my mom’s special night! We were so happy and pleased with our experience with Top of Waikiki. Dan was a great waiter with refreshing customer service! We Alaskan’s highly recommend this magical experience!!!!
When my wife and I were first Sat, the waitress in our section seemed completely overwhelmed. It Definetely took a while to get our drinks and appetizers ordered, much less delivered. That being said the waitress was very nice, and super helpful, bringing everything that we asked for. The food was superb we ordered the Over The Top Surf & Turf, and enjoyed it immensely.
So amazing! Came here with my boyfriend and everything was perfect. We ordered two apps to share, an entree each, and we each had dessert. We both are in the hospitality industry, him being a corporate chef and myself being a F&b director. The service was impeccable and our server was great with out overbearing. Our wine glasses were always full and food came out in a timely manor. Very impressed with the dining experience we received. Will be back next time we are on the island!
We had a wonderful first night in Honolulu dinner here after recommendation by friends in Australia. We had wonderful service from Cris who was very helpful with recommendations and explanations of all that was not familiar from food to wine and enjoyed our experience all the more for it. Lovely to celebrate our belated wedding anniversary there, the view was stunning, especially on sunset. The food was exceptional and we enjoyed every mouthful. We also enjoyed that the restaurant was one where we could enjoy conversation and not have to shout over music to talk to each other. Would recommend Top of Waikiki to others even if it wasn't for a special occasion
The view was wonderful for taking out of town guests. All the dishes we ordered were delicious and beautifully presented. The server however is either new or very forgetful. I ordered hot tea with honey on the side. First he brought me the tea without the honey, then he did not bring a teaspoon. We were there to celebrate a birthday, our celebrant did not even get a complementary cake or ice cream. There were five of us, the bill was over $400.00.
Delightfully surprised with the Top of Waikiki and so glad we decided to take our guests here this past Friday. Reservations are required and the restaurant got busier as the evening progressed. Everyone in your party must be present before you get seated. We never think of coming here because we associate it with tourists but we were very pleased with our Top of Waikiki experience, we wouldn't mind coming back! Fabulous view and you see that you're rotating but it's not dizzying. Parking (4 hours) is free at the Waikiki Business Plaza and Waikiki Shopping Plaza with validation.
Food was A+! We had no leftovers because everything was excellent. Portion/serving size was good. Everything was a la carte so rice and mashed potatoes had to be ordered separately.
Ginger Pesto Crusted Monchong ($28)
Pan Fried Chinese Style Onaga ($36)
Kurobuta Pork Chop ($44)
Corn Chowder ($9)
Molten Chocolate Butter Cake ($11, served with ice cream)
Mai Tai and Coffee were also very good.
Photographer: Photographs are expensive but make nice souvenirs and the photographer from Ukraine is cool and not irritating or pushy.
Definitely not just for tourists!
It was pretty and great atmosphere but the food was extremely expensive for tiny portions. After spending 100 dollars on us two we grabbed food after, which was disappointing. It's cool for a one time thing and the experience but I wouldn't go back unless they gave you your money's worth.
The wait staff was very accommodating
& well versed in the menu items, as well as the wine listing. The food was well prepared and the presentation was superior; as was the taste. The ambiance was also great; So was the view. The value was well worth the drive.
The view is gorgeous and we were fortunate to watch a partial view of the Hilton fireworks too. I had the Panko & Bacon crusted Ahi which the server suggested just seared. I took his suggestion and enjoyed my rare Ahi. The others in my group choose the Chinese style Onaga which they all enjoyed as well. One person was actually commenting on how delicious it was through her entire meal and she left not a morsel on her plate. We decided to share the mango brûlée which was perfect! Not overly sweet with a lovely mango flavor, yum!
Our server was spot on. We all had a great experience!
