Our daughter & son-in-law came to visit us from Chicago, and we wanted to treat them to a memorable dinner. Everything was perfect. They raved about the food----they ordered the prix fixe menu and the Paniolo rib-eye steak. Though it was a rainy night, they still enjoyed the scenic view and were impressed with Darren, our host and server, who was cordial and attentive. We had a great time.
Top of Waikiki, food was grear and service good. Only downside was the welcome reception desk, very cold and unfriendly. Lady who took us to our table spoke very quiet and we could not hear what she said, and there is only a few time you can ask someone to repeat.
Great location. Great food and great service. Only negative is that they contacted me numerous times about the dress code and observed numerous gentlemen in shorts, tee shirts and sandals. It is an elegant atmosphere and they should stick to their standards. Also - young girls , obviously just interested in the bar scene were walking through the restaurant barefoot with sandals in hand.
So many people did not “dress” for dinner
We had an amazing server named Caterina who made our experience great. The food was phenomenal and the view was awesome too.
Great place, awesome view. Excellent service. Food: well presented, delicious, small portions (do yourself a favor, order fries with any plate). Service: 10/10, Fred can offer you the world, don’t forget you have to pay for it....great service though. Time lapse? a must! Cocktails?: save those $14, nothing extraordinary. Nice experience overall. Will come back for sure.
Vacation last night in town meal
We liked it so much we dined there twice in 5 days on our vacation in Honolulu. The ambiance is great; the menu is varied. We tried the roasted Brussels sprouts, fried garlic shrimp, soy marinated short ribs, and a fish whose name escapes me. All terrific. The desserts that other diners ordered looked fabulous, but we were too full to try any. Highly recommended place. Good, attentive service.
Exceptional service and the highest quality of food! Made us feel special!
My honest opinion is that the food wasn’t seasoned at all. If you are going to give a restaurant 4 or 5 Stars, the food need to be seasoned and have flavor. The restaurant was nice but out dated. I wouldn’t go back and I’m in Hawaii every other month for business.
Great view. Foie Gras was outstanding. Had Paniolo Ribeye, wife had Onaga. Both of us enjoyed our meals with drinks. Will go again.
Made reservations and got in quickly. Had great service! Hoping to make it back before we leave.
Overall it was very disappointing. The food was terrible. One of the worse I've ever had. Also, they do not acknowledge special occasions, so don't bother to mention it.
Dan was our server and he really had all the answers to our questions, was attentive (without being OVERLY so and efficient). He encouraged us to try something different and we were thrilled with our choices (I had the Japanese mushrooms atop Risotto - mmmmm) and husband's salmon was cooked to perfection; NOT overdone as often is the case.
The only complaint and this is possibly out of your control but there were two VERY young children who screamed and cried for far too long. I could hear people seated close to them saying SSSHHHHH several times. I don't this venue is appropriate for young, uncivilized children - makes no sense to me. One other issue was that he Brussel sprout appetizer was WAY too hot for either of us to handle although it was noted as such. Dan happily took it back and removed the charge. We appreciated that.
Other than that, the evening was really perfect. Great bubbly for happy hour at $5 which is a great deal and the view is unsurpassed.
Loved our evening and will come again. This spot was recommended to another couple we just bumped into on the tennis courts, so word of mouth is alive and well.
Keep up the good work!
We went for our anniversary. Great service from Dan, not overbearing like some places. Food was fast, but delicious! Will definitely return!
The server was great, however the hostess was rude.
I don't we won't be returning.
Lovely view, expensive food and drinks - gr at for special occasions
Great views, nice cocktails and the food was beautifully cooked.
Great for a 15 year anniversary!! Had a great time and enjoyed the view of Waikiki. Drinks were great and food was great!! Thank you Top of Waikiki for a great special dinner!!
Our experience was awesome! All of our meals were well presented and delicious. The view was amazing. We had reservations at 6:15 pm and were seated shortly after we arrived. The time of day was perfect. We viewed the sunset as we enjoyed our meal. Reasonably priced. Highly recommend the Top of Waikiki.
The food was good. The service was a little bit slow but we understood there was a lot of people. We were celebrating a 50th anniversary and didn’t even get a free dessert or anything like the majority of restaurant do. Drinks were not good at all, but the food was delicious.
Really enjoyed our evening, food was amazing, had a good view while orbiting the centre of Waikiki.
The food was amazing. Service was a little slow as it seemed the kitchen was a little behind. By the time the food arrived we finished a bottle of wine between the two of us, as the kitchen seemed to be backed up. The waiter did a great job at checking on us the entire time and was very helpful and accurate in his recommendations. The view was amazing. The restaurant really should consider having baskets of bread for the tables in these types of situations.
We came for my wife’s birthday with our 2 children while on vacation. The view was beautiful and food was very good.
Excellent food. Had a goat cheese salad and filet, very nicely prepared and succulent. Very good view on Waikiki.
If your sensitive at all, like easily car sick, don’t spend money here as you actually do feel yourself revolving around. Food was excellent, but service too slow and overall not worth the highly priced food and drinks.
Relatively unique experience combining great food (Duck pizza appetizer a must) with spectacular views from the revolving restaurant 20 stories above Waikiki.
The meal meal GREAT as expected, he whole experience will be something to remember
Forty years ago we were on our honeymoon in Waikiki and we splurged on this revolving restaurant above the city. We were shocked to spend over $50 for dinner and drinks, but loved the location, ambiance, and food.
We visited again this year (2018) and while the pricing has risen it’s still a great spot for a romantic dinner. We enjoyed every aspect of our visit. Highly recommended!
My only recommendation would be just for the experience. I was expecting the view to look over the city not eye level to other surrounding buildings. Food was ok. The appetizer nor the entree was season well and I was a waste of meal. Expected better quality and portion for the amount that was paid on the bill. The waiter offered great customer service and the setting was very personal.
We went here ro celebrate our anniversary. The service was amazing! The food was delicious and we loved the atmosphere/views. Definitely worth checking out :)
We had a great meal and the view was amazing.
This is one of my "go to" favorites and I can't say it enough - they just don't disappoint even though you may think this place is more for tourists. Locals want an awesome view of Waikiki, great food (the mongchong prep is fantastic, as is the Signature Pear Salad), professional waitstaff. The short ribs were delicious. The apple pie, while not the traditional style we exepcted (a slice), was more like an apple crisp with vanilla ice cream on the side. Great flavor and textures. The cocktails at this restaurant are great. Somehow an ordinary vodka, soda, lime is just the perfect combination with good fizz. It's interesting how many places don't have a good soda for this popular drink. Fancy drinks are great too, but you can really judge the quality of a bartender with how well they prepare a simple/plain drink to make it taste wonderful!
Worth every penny!!! Outstanding value for the service and food.
Very disappointed that I didn't get a window seat that I requested.
Great view and service.
The prime rib I ate was onolicious. The asiago potatoes were a great add.
Poor service to locals.
I've experienced eating at 53 By the Sea, Alan Wong's, MW and other establishments. Out of all the places I've been to, I never had a bad experience like I did at Top of Waikiki.
The restaurant has a casual ambiance and not the upscale vibe I was expecting for an expensive dinner. We waited for our main entree a full hour as other couples (obviously tourists) who arrived after us were served first and were able to leave before us too.
We were on that merry go round restaurant for almost 3 hrs mostly waiting for our appetizer, entree, and dessert. I complained to our waiter who showed no sympathy whatsoever.
Thank goodness the food was at least decent. But I would never come back again.
Celebrated wife's birthday here and was left unsatisfied. The Blue Crab Cakes appetizer; small portion, mediocre flavor, a bit runny, nothing to write home about (skip it). Paniolo Ribeye; cooked close to the medium rare as requested, mushrooms and onions were a decent touch to the dish overall, with some brussels sprouts sprinkled on top, the sauce was just okay, nothing special, nothing crazy, nothing spectacular, just okay, the ribeye tasted pretty good and was an incredibly large 16oz portion, enough for two people to share but it wasn't great, just alright overall (skip it). Surf & Turf; this was the most disappointing part of the entire night, I understand the beef tenderloin is usually served in a pretty small portion but this dish was comical, the beef was okay but the king crab legs were maybe two bites, measured and served in teaspoon size, for the $ amount that they charge for this dish you should get somewhat close to your money's worth, this isn't even close. The keiki got some garlic chicken and rice and this was the better food on the table, the garlic chicken actually tasted pretty good and the rice was also pretty good, if I was to ever go back I would love to order the keiki garlic chicken for myself but that might be slightly weird and looked down upon. Our friend ordered the Prix Fixe Tasting Menu that included a garlic shrimp, bacon crusted ahi, soy miso braised short ribs, and a house-made fudge brownie sundae. Let's start with the shrimp, yup shrimp, just one, 1, little lonely shrimp served on a small tiny little plate, all by itself. The crusted ahi was pretty good, but the soy miso short ribs was hands down the best, abundance of flavor, ribs cooked perfectly to the point where you can just slice it down with a fork, wasabi mashed potatoes - very unique and tasted really good. Then there's the brownie sundae, they did this one right, served with a scoop of gelato, almond brittle, and some butterscotch sauce, it was good.
