Nice location. Food was not up to par. Some servings were cold (mashed potatoes), fish was rubbery, cola products tasted weak, one alcohol drink was forgotten and we had to request again. Prices are a bit high especially since the quality was sub-par. We had a 4-some that drove over an hour and it was disappointing. Good company, nice view, great weather.

So much more than I anticipated. The view and aesthetics of the restaurant combined with the service were worth the trip up the steep road. We had a lite lunch with the beer flight. Both very good. I’m very interested in going back in colder weather to see what the domes and heaters are all about. Again, the service was really great.

It is very nice with delightful menu We did have outdoor reservations and when it starting raining they had to close it off, it caused lots of confusion causing our wait time at our table before being acknowledged to be lengthy with the explanation that they numbered the tables wrong since having to close off the outside tables, that they did apologize for our “wait”

We were seated very quickly in a great location on the deck. What an awesome view! I would have liked to see a wider variety of lunch entrees and a choice of side dishes on the lunch menu. The food and drinks were very good, with the exception of my filet which was cold inside. The desserts were outstanding, but a rather small portion on the cheesecake. The server was very good and checked on us frequently, but not bothersome. Overall a very good dining experience and we’re looking forward to dinner in the near future.

Well worth the drive and the price. Definitely recommend a reservation. Even at 3 PM, we would not have had a table with a view if we had just shown up without our reservation. A lot of people we’ve talked to afterwards said they’ve been wanting to go. We say, “Go!”

Top of the Rock is my favorite place for a birthday dinner, to bring guests, and for an evening out for an enjoyable dinner. The menu accommodates pretty much everyone - gluten free friendly and nice vegetarian options. The atmosphere is the best, I love the outside patio with wonderful views of the Tennessee River and the mountains. Reservations are strongly recommended - I always get a reservation because they make it so easy on their website. I do add in the notes that I would like the patio and they almost always accomodate. The food is great, their service is above excellent. They will take a photo of your group if you ask and are kind and friendly.

My guest food came out first and I was told my was coming right out. My guests finished their entrees and we were still waiting on mine. I was told “a lot of people ordered your dish” and it’s coming right now. My guests ordered dessert and mine still wasn’t out. I simply got it to go and our meal was compensated. The table next to us had the same problem. They were also compensated for a long wait as well. The food was great when I tried my guests meals. The view from the outside deck was insane!

We have visited Top of the Rock several times at various times of the year and had a wonderful experience all around. We drove from Alabama for my husband’s birthday and my daughter and her roommate met us from Sewanee. I have been told on past occasions that you could not request seating, so I did not on our reservation, which we made a couple of weeks in advance. Upon arrival, we were seated at the booth directly behind the hostess station at the front door. We requested another seating arrangement and were willing to wait. We were told that it was the assigned booth or nothing and that we should have noted an area we preferred on our reservation. There were walk-in customers waiting, so I’m unsure as to why we could not wait, as well. Yes, the restaurant was fully booked with waiting customers, so we patiently made the best of it. The Smash Burgers are always a favorite, but the two that were ordered were way overcooked to the point of being hard patties. The traffic and noise around our seating was overwhelming. Yes, I realize it was busy and a public setting, but back to the request to wait for another seating loomed over our experience. For the future, I’ll request an area of seating that was advised by the hostess and most likely select a less busy time of business.

I’m rating based on the experience I had after a courteous server/manager made our experience better. The hostess was horrible. There were empty tables with a good view (which we wanted since we drove almost 2 hours to enjoy). She told us we could not get those tables, that we had to wait and be placed at the bottom of the reservation list if we wanted to seat there. I was confused and asked our server. She said that was not true, that the tables were open and we could absolutely be there. The hostess made us feel as we if were “less” than other races who were seating where we wanted to be seated. Her customer service is horrible and she’s obviously racist. However, the server and manager made our experience better. Which I appreciated a lot. The view is breath taking and worth the drive. However; if you are of color; be careful with the hostesses.

It was our first time going to the Top of the Rock Restaurant. The food was excellent, atmosphere was great and the view spectacular. We I’ll definitely go back. Having reservations meant we only waited 5 minutes to seating

Beautiful & scenic view on the outside deck. I was a bit disappointed as I had checked the menu out ahead of time, but when I sat down, some things were not on the actual menu. I had to end up with a pizza, which was decent.

We orders tortilla soup and it never came. We finish the main course and it was delicious! I had filet and she had country fried chicken. We ordered a dessert and ended up cancelling it because it never came. I was very frustrated and somewhat dissatisfied. The view was amazing being on top of the mountain but the food(for the price) was subpar. Between my wife and I we spent about $100 on two separate styles of steaks and both were not what we expected for the price we paid for them. I don’t know if it was an off night for the cooks but after seeing who seemed to be the manager pacing around and hearing about other tables food not being the best it just left us feeling unsatisfied after we received our total bill. I think the potential for this place to be worth the money we spent is there with the mountain view you get but with the food and service being mediocre I wouldn’t recommend it to others.

We went to Top of the Rock for the view and were very pleasantly surprised by how good the food was. The pizza I had was thin crust baked on a wood fire, which was very good. We also had the spinach and artichoke for an app and it was amazing, the best I think I have had a very long time. The views are amazing, the service was great and we will definitely be taking out-of-town visitors here when they are in town.

This is REAL TALK: Food NOT great at all; mediocre at best. Best part of the restaurant is the view however that can be misleading. Restuarant is built facing North/South therefore if you want to see the sunset then you must ask for a West facing table. Staff is Blah (could care less about customer service) and best advice is do a drink at sunset along the outdoor bar patio and go somewhere else to eat. Do Not EAT nor fall into the trap of this is a MUST do Restaurant... The view is a MUST Do but not the restaurant/food.

Sharon W was my server. She was absolutely wonderful. Drinks were never empty, dirty plates quickly cleared, very friendly. The restaurant and view are beautiful. But the food was really mediocre especially for the price. It was about equivallent to Applebees. I just expected better.

Hoping the restaurant was just off because in the past the food was good. This time, however, it was not good. Fish and chips were very greasy and the chicken Medallions weren't medallions and not very good. Disappointing since we drove an hour to eat there. The view is fabulous and worth the risk but the food was a let down.
