Top O The Turn at Flamboro Downs
Roast beef was very good , for a buffet the rest was ok for the price! But a great night out , staff very good and friendly ,
The Buffett if that’s what you call it was very skimpy. The vegetables looked like they opened a tin of can veggies. The soup was cold so not sure if the taste was good or not. They only had one roast beef so if you don’t eat pink meat you were screwed.
The desserts were lacking variety. Last time we will be booking the buffet. We will try the buffet in the casino and than go upstairs to watch the races.
Could not believe the buffet. There was no variety for main course. Would be nice to see more vegetables offered.
The waitress staff were Amazing. They gave great service
We had a great time food was great and the service was fine. Would recommend highly.
Great value for the money. Don’t follow the racing but enjoyed the dinning experience while eating dinner/
Had a great time, would come again for New Years! Service was good and all the people that came with me enjoyed it also.
Through no fault of the Top of the Turn staff, our reservation was switched from the dining room (so we could watch the harness racing), to the newly renovated downstairs buffet. Flamboro Downs staff contacted me to say the dining room would not be open for our requested reservation and they would reserve us a track-side table in the buffet so we could still watch the races. The table beside us was obviously in the same position - there because they wanted to watch the races.
Yes, our table was facing the track - but it was definitely not viewer-friendly to watch the races. The window glass was tinted so dark you couldn't see the track from the table. The room lights could not be turned off either, which meant the only way you could see the track and horses was if your nose was practically pressed to the glass. None of the announcing was broadcast into the room either, so you really had no idea what was going on on the track. There were also not any television sets available to watch, and the wagering only took place upstairs. As we are harness racing fans, this was a less than ideal night out to watch the races with our family.
On a plus side, the Top of the Turn staff was fabulous in dealing with our situation - they were extremely apologetic and went out of their way to make the best of it for us. We greatly appreciated them reserving a table upstairs for us so that we could watch the races when our dinner was finished. And continuing to bring us beverages was a nice bonus - but a lot of extra steps for them. Thank you to the staff for being so great!
Hopefully, the powers-that-be at Flamboro Downs remember that the racetrack was there long before the casino was ever thought to be - and some people are happier watching live entertainment than sitting in front of a loud, bright slot machine.
The food is basically cafeteria food with very few items on the buffet. The roast beef was the only thing that would be rated good but the rest was terrible. The service was very good and the ambience was as expected in a race track environment. Check out woodbine or mohawk for recommendations on acceptable food. The whole menu should be scrapped and redone.
Food and waitress were good , but things went empty for a long time no condiments , butter, horse radish cranberry sauce had to ask for all these things , was not worth the money. have been coming with friends at Christmas for 10 years will not come again.
Food was aweful. No selection for the price . Service was very slow.
Food on buffet was very cold. Our party would never return do to that quality. Many ppl complained that night regarding the same
Our seating was not good. We got a table for 2 that looked like we a last minute effort. We asked our Waitress if we could move after the 5th race which we did. Our Waitress apologized for putting us
there in the first place. Overall it was a good experience.
Was seated in a cramped space, drink order was taken 2 times and 20 minutes later a server showed up with 2 drinks we didn’t order. Table next to us was super loud, obnoxious. We would have asked to move but server never came back. We left and did not eat here.
The prime rib was as good as any I have ever had before. Excellent!!
Great service, great view, food was just ok. Overall great value and we will return in the near future for another fun night of harness racing
We have been to the Top O the Turn 4 times this winter season and it has been consistently poor. The food just is NOT hot. My dining partner had salmon this past Saturday, and it was absolutely cold (not exaggerating at all). The next batch was much better. The first serving of beef was tasty but the next cut was very dry. The Yorkshire puddings are a lovely touch but again ice cold. Mushroom chicken Luke warm, pork chops were dry and like warm. Salad bar was good - Greek salad was good, potato salad as well. Coffee was excellent!! The other ridiculous thing is two wait staff for 180 people!!! And only one racing teller. We heard grumblings at the other wickets that “management is too cheap to bring in more help”. The buffet is not cheap at $30 per person .... probably could warrant having hotter food, more wait staff and another teller.
I thought that the food was amazing before but last Saturday was the best by far. Roast beef so yummy. We go often throughout the year. At least 15 times in the year and this is the best buffet (even though few choices) by far. Love the staff and Judy always helps with a nice table as I am disabled. Thanks all
You guys are sitting on a golf mine and need to capitalize on it ! The wait staff needs to be cleaned up and trained. The quality of the food is terrible!
Get some proper chefs !
Up the price ! Up the quality!
Everything looks old and dirty .
You need to hire A consultant . What a fun night out with terrible food and dirty wait staff .
Get some decent food!!!!!
Over cooked and mucky !
I loved the races and would love to come back . You guys are financially not capitalizing!
I am an event planner.
I’m not sure how your prime rib is cooked, it’s quite tender but not very flavourful . Almost a ‘stewed’ bear kind of taste. You should be able to do better.
Serice was good. Food was tasty just not many choices, very small buffet but we were so full we didn't even go for seconds. Desserts were great. Very relaxed atmosphere and they gave free programs for races.
The buffet was great. There was a good selection of both food and deserts.
The food was delicious andnd hot with a choice of nutritious sides.
It was a nice outing for us. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the races. The buffet was OK, we had been here before for the buffet, and enjoyed it more the other times. The service was slow. We would come back.
The quality of food and selection of food at the buffet was not good at all. There weren't enough servers for the dining room and so we had to ask for drinks and coffee and the waiter didn't come back to check if we wanted more.
The men's washroom didn't have any paper towels and none of the hand dryers worked at all.
When the buffet was in the Pavillion Dining Room these issues did not exist.
Great food, lots of selection at the buffet. Excellent value for a very entertaining evening.
Limited buffet, compared to Woodbine.
Someone should patrol the casino at times when it is busy. Some people playing 2 machines or sitting on machine and not playing. Waitress at buffet was very good
We had a special occasion booked here. The food was great, our hostess went out of the way to make sure no one needed anything.
The staff went above and beyond to make sure everyone had a great time, right down to getting a group picture with one of the winning horses.
We would go again tomorrow.
This was to be our 10th year of a family outing to the Top of the Turn. After last year's dismal experience we almost did not go. Are we ever glad we gave it one more chance. The food was fantastic and the variety the largest we had seen offered. Even though it was very full we did not experience any shortages of any of the items. The staff was great and when they noticed one of the party was celebrating a birthday they got us down to the track fo r a picture with one of the winners. Glad to be back on track and looking forward to the new changes they say are coming.
I would not recommend the buffet.
The service was also bad.
The food was barely warm and not very good. The soup was good but not hot enough.
The beef was ok but gravy was not hot.
The server was no where to be found. I had to help myself to water at the server station. Brought tea but no milk.
Tea was not hot.
When it came time to pay we gave our vouchers and were told we should have provided them at the beginning. What’s the difference?
We did not pay much because we had vouchers but we had of paid it would have been a rip off.
This was the second time I had been and the food was much tastier., we all enjoyed it. The service was less than stellar not attentive to your needs, never any ice in the water and the room temperature was too hot.
Yes I would, I just think they need more servers as one lady for such a large section is not Enough although she does the best she can
The table location for the races was great. The food however was lukewarm to cold. The buns hard like a hockey puck thusly inedible. The roast beef too fatty, pork skewers very dry. Chicken was good. Need to put real lettuce in the salad bar. The olives and beets were good.
Most staff standing around with lots of tables to clear.
They ran out of roast beef that was actually cooked. Even the chef that was cutting the beef said “it’s still mooing”! The rest of the food was at best warm - although my dinner partner said the veal chops were excellent (they ran out of these too). The gravy was good - but nothing to put it on!! The cream of chicken soup was surprisingly excellent. You do get to see the races in the warmth so that is a good thing. They did give us $5 off our meal.
Enjoyable start to finish. Service, food and races all fantastic.
Service was good considering they were busy and appeared short staffed . It was a great experience to sit and watch the races and enjoy drinks and food . Downfall was the coffee they served was cold.
The Prime Rib was well-done and not tender at all, very disappointed. The brusell spouts were tast, though there should have been a second choice of hot vegetable asa lot of people don’t like this vegetable. The chicken was super Spicy(which I enjoyed) but clearly should have been labeled as such as some people that were eating it were very sensitive to the spice. The gravy was so salt laden, we drank a jug of water. All items at the salad bar were bland and no flavour, buns were frozen. For the price of the food my friends and spouse would not eat here again.
The food was great the seating was good considering we chged the group number at the last minute. The only problem was we couldn't hear the races so it wasn't as interactive as it could have been, we missed several races because we didn't hear them announcing the upcoming race.
Great customer service help from Tammy she was fantastic!
We had a great experience dining here. Our view of the races was excellent. Our server was very courteous and paid special attention to the 86 yr old member of our family.
The food was excellent and there was a great variety of both the meal and deserts.
We have already booked again for a specific family occasion. I would recommend this restaurant to all of my friends.
prime rib great rest of foodfair pans always empty refills not quick
dessert table good
had to move as curtain blocked view
got there and was closed. took the reservation on line and even confirmed it , a awaste of a drive
I didn't get to have dinner at the Top of the Turn restaurant because it wasn't even open. I don't know how this system allowed me to make a reservation for a restaurant that was closed but we ended up eating at the Pavilion restaurant.
Food could have been warmer and didn’t know drinks were included
