Burma (modernized name - Myanmar) is a Southeast Asian country about the size of Texas, tucked between India and China, is a home to various ethnic tribes, a melting pot of beautiful cultures. When it comes to taste-buds tingling cuisines, Burma has a lot to offer.

It has been a passionate dream for Burma-born owners Kalvin and Poe to open a Burmese restaurant to be able to share their culinary culture. That dream came true in 2019 when Top Burmese opened as a virtual takeout only restaurant from a commissary kitchen in NW Portland.

Due to its authenticity, made to order, home-style cooking, and Burmese hospitality, Top Burmese traditional and modern Burmese dishes became so popular effectively evangelizing the masses to become Burmese Food fans.

Today Top Burmese serves its amazing dishes via various Burma themed restaurants.

Last night we went for our first time at TopBurmese in Hillsboro. I thought it was very nicely decorated and that the robots were novel. I’d like to offer some feedback where I think you could easily improve. #1. We were sat at a booth, which was very tight. It was fine for me, but my husband and our friend are large men. The booths need a bit more space. #2. When the robots came to serve our food, we had all ordered something different, and , of course, we were not familiar with your dishes. We had ordered both coconut rice and jasmine rice but there was nothing that told us what dish was what and it took us a while to decipher who’s food belonged to whom. #3. We had only been given appetizer saucers. We were never given an actual dinner plate. I believe we should have all been given an actual plate for our meals, it was awkward. Due to all of these factors, both the men in our group said they would not return to your restaurant. I wanted to share this with you for your consideration in an effort to improve the service/presentation. The staff was most pleasant, and I enjoyed my salad tremendously.

The dishes are hit or miss. While some tast amazing, some are just mid. For the price of dinner they charge, everything should be over the top. I recommend the samosa soup, and avoid the meat curries. The latter are just meat and rice with no veggies.

We have enjoyed two of the Top Burmese restaurants now, having jut visited he Ambassador last evening. The quality of the food and service has been consistently high. I can see why. After meeting the chef, who is the grandmother in the family that owns the restaurants, as she strolled by our table to ask us haw everything was going and tasting, she and her son left Hillsboro to visit their branch in NW Portland. They obviously are checking quality control in their restaurants and greeting guests to find out what people like and how they can improve. Two of the waiters were the chef's grandchildren and her son, the owner, was tending bar until they left for NW Portland. There is something special, in my book, about family owned businesses. I patronize several in different lines of business. They work hard to make sure people are enjoying themselves. They are aware of time and our waiter apologized for not being fast for no reason. We were enjoying lingering over an dabbling in the different dishes we ordered. We did not think she was being slow, but if you are in a hurry and used to eating fast, I could see how you might think so. Dinner was our destination, not dinner and then a movie. As for the food, well, it is the different flavors that I enjoy in ethnic restaurants and there are some different and delicious flavors to be found at Top Burmese. I have yet to find a dish that I don't enjoy, and the Tea Leaf Salad is one of my favorites. It is substantial and a good meal for lunch or dinner. It is large enough that you could share it family style and it comes in nicely arranged little piles of ingredients in a tilted bowl that you stir up yourself. The curries are subtle and mouth watering. My guests said they "definitely want to come to this place again." Warm friendly service, and quality food. What an enjoyable experience.

Amazing dinner to celebrate! We had Samosas (both chicken and veg), chicken curry and paratha bread. The food was outstanding!! We each ordered a drink and they were delicious and arrive in fun glasses. The robot waiters are a fun addition. Highly recommend this for a nice night out!!

The food was great, the slow service was not. Robots were cool, and I don't think they contributed to the slow service. The appetizers (combo deal) was pretty tasty. The entrees were ok, but it tasted like both beef and both chicken meals tasted the same, just with the "Bread" included. My wife thought they were a bit bland and lacked flavor.

We ordered a bottle of wine which the server came back and said they were out of but she offered an alternate, to which we agreed to. She never came back with our wine. They seemed more anxious to close our ticket rather than to offer more drinks or dessert, which for a Friday evening would have been awesome.

The server entered our food to the next table, so we watched the robot bring our food, one dish at a time, to an empty table. No compensation of any kind offered. Food is amazing but this experience was sub par and we will relay the robot server experience to friends and family.

First of all, the staff (and robots) are great....friendly, genuine. It’s easy to find and park. The setting is very nice - not too small. It was a Saturday and they had a very large group eating in the back when we came in for our 6 pm reservation. And it kept filling up from there. As cute as they are I’m not sure about the robots...it seemed the one waitress and the hostess were flitting around a lot. I’m sure it’s less hectic on another evening. They could have used another human. The food was very tasty (my first Burmese meal) - loved the Samosas and the beef curry /coconut rice. It’s plain fare which I like. We got the Samosas fairly quickly, had to ask about drinks. Curry didn’t come for 20 min - we understood (the owner came out to check). The portions are small for the price ($18 for two piles of rice and a med bowl of curry. Five small Samosas appetizers for $13. My ginger beer was poured in a small tapered glass filled with ice. Not much to drink. It’s very popular and the food we had was very good. Will have to try other options next time.

Cute robot. Our human waitress spilled both a salad and a sauce on us and our table without assistance for cleanup. Nicely crispy samosas. Spicy items could be more spicy; best was the Shoo Share salad. Glad to have more dining choices in Hillsboro, including this one!
