Tony's - St. Louis
Really creative wine menu. Incredible service.
My business partner and I had drinks at Anthony’s and then dinner at Tony’s on Tuesday night. The food was excellent. The entire staff was on their game. Our server, Menkara, was top notch. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Tony’s has been a tradition as our go to fine dinning experience in St Louis for many years. The modern elegant dinning room with high end classic touches is simply beautiful. The attentive French table service is done with glaur and at a high level that is seldom seen in any city today. The food is top rate classic gourmet using the finest ingredients often locally sourced from specialty boutique farms. The charming owner makes a point of welcoming guests as a welcome friends and makes sure every detail is perfect. A treasure that I highly recommend.
As always the service was fabulous!! Best service in town for sure! Great food great atmosphere! Everyone is so friendly!
Had a memorable New Years eve dinner here. Bruce was a spectacular waiter. Very professional. Pacing on the meal was good. Never felt rushed. $35 corkage fee but they allow you to bring your own wine. Everything cooked perfectly. Lobster, veal, filet with Foi Gras all perfect.
Make sure you ask for anything special off the menu as they have some extra specials or will put something together for you.
Will go again when we visit St. Louis again.
Always superb! Our favorite New Year’s Eve spot. And it was a wonderful treat to see Vince still circulating among guests.
We very much enjoyed New Year's Eve. The food was delicious and we will be back!
Excellent service and food. Favorite place to have dinner on special occasions.
My wife's family has a long history of going to Tonys albeit its been a couple years, they are a native Saint Louis family. I on the other hand come from Chicago and naturally have been exposed to superb Italian food. While I found the environment to be upscale, I was very surprised to find people wearing things like jeans and plain shirts. That attire in a family restaurant is completely acceptable, an establishment with this reputation, not appropriate. The service was great but a 2.5hour experience for a couple is a pretty long and found the gaps to be agitating. My appetizer was wonderful but my main course was fair at best. I dont complain much about price but $40 for dry breaded veal is a bit much. It's not that I would not go back to Tonys, but it would be at the request of someone else. **I did VERY MUCH appreciate the acknowledgement of our Anniversary, that was a really nice touch so bravo on service!
Just hands-down the best restaurant in St. Louis
First class all the way. Great food better service. A special place
How this restaurant is still in business, with such high prices and ordinary food escapes my intelligence completely.
As has been the case for every meal we have had the delight of enjoying at Tony's for over 50 years, this was no exception - gracious welcome by the maitre d' followed by courteous and efficient waiters/servers delivering fabulous cuisine and a "good pour" of wine (we order by the glass since I like reds and Judy likes white). Missed seeing Vince who we are told still comes in for a while almost daily - that's why it remains the incredible gem it has been for decades.
We have been going to Tony's for years especially on special occasions. I always get my absolute favorite dish, the Lobster Albanello, an exquisite dish with the best sauce in the world. So it pains me, terribly, to say this, but this time the sauce was not like it used to be, it was flavorless, bland, not that rich sauce I have eaten so many times. I don't know why it is different or what is missing, but the disappointment I felt was really discouraging. I hope the chef will take this information and get back to the original sauce.
We had 7:15 reservations and arrived at 7:20. We were told that it would be “a while” and to head over to Anthony’s down the hall for a drink. At 7:50 my wife was returning from the restroom when the woman at the front told her to “go get your family and come now”. So she came and got us at the bar and when we came up to the front a man rudely said they were not ready and it would be a while. I said we were just told to come up and he argued that they were not ready to seat us and they had been in business 70 years and knew what they were doing. He was very rude and not at all apologetic for being 45 minutes late. After five more minutes we were seated and had a delicious meal but all of us agreed we would not be back for a long time. It sort of ruined the whole evening for us. Prices are very high so expect at least to be treated well. Maybe they were so late because we made our reservations on open table because they seated a group with 7:30 reservations before us. There are lots of other great options in St. Louis. Tony’s is past its prime.
Still the best restaurant in St Louis
Perfect for a celebration dinner or a special occasion.
Always an amazing experiences to dine at Tony’s
As ALWAYS Tony’s was absolutely perfect! Through the years we have dined here many times and it is always perfect. Vince Bommarito used to say you are “only as good as your last meal”........and our meal 2 nights ago was perfect.....great atmosphere, great service, and wonderful food, from beginning to end.
My husband wanted to experience Tony's so I took him there for his birthday. We had the dinner for two for $200.00. the food was very good but I felt it was extremely overpriced for the value. I wouldn't go back. there are other ambiance restaurants that have a better value
While this is nowhere close to my first review of Tony's, this iconic St. Louis restaurant is still one of the best in our city. No one else provides the level of service as they do with attentive waiters and owners who make each guest feel welcome.
I always order the same items and each time I am reminded how perfectly they prepare them. The smoked salmon with mascarpone makes a perfect appetizer for me. My wife and I split the Tony's salad, which is simple, but somehow is better than similar salads served elsewhere. It must be the superior ingredients. I had the sliced sirloin with peppercorn sauce and it was expertly prepared and seasoned. The meat was clearly prime. My wife had the snapper, which was a special for the night and she too was thrilled with her entree. The arancini is a specialty side dish available at Tony's that I highly recommend. This fried rice ball is filled with an Italian meat that is flavorful and different than side dishes found in other restaurants.
We finished with the caramel ice cream pie, which is like none other. It is like a lemon meringue pie with home made vanilla ice cream substituted for the lemon and then it is covered in a thick, rich caramel sauce. The meringue is three inches high and my favorite part.
Tony's used to be the most expensive restaurant in St. Louis by far. People still think that is the case, but it is not. While you should expect to spend $200 per couple with drinks and tip, there are more than 10 other area restaurants where this is the case and none is at the level of Tony's when combining food, service and atmosphere.
As always all you can say is Tony’s is off the chart The food is an excellent today as it was 30 years ago on our first visit. All remains superb. Having the patriarch of the family still visiting guest tables is still a special touch. If you have not been there lately or have never been there you must try it. It certainly is not inexpensive but worth every cent.
Excellent experience. Service and food very good. One of the best steaks I have ever had!!!
Just could not be happier with everything! A fabulous first time experience dining at Tony's! From the valet parking to the meal all services were beyond excellent!
Tony's provided great service and great food. Very comfortable.
I have not been to Tony's in over 45 years. It matched my experience and expectations. Worth every penny.
This is by far the best food and service I have ever had! If I were local, I'd definitely be a regular guest!
St Louis is fortunate to have this outstanding restaurant which has been in the same family for more than 70 years. Tony's is the place to be seen. It is that special first class restaurant which provides all that anyone could ask for in a dining experience. The service is excellent (Carlos was our server who sets the standard for quality service) and the food is totally delicious. The dining room is inviting, comfortable, and elegant . I strongly recommend this very special restaurant. Garry Waters
After all the years still our favorite restaurant in St. Louis. Nobody gives you better service.
The food it tops in our area. Always great fish choices as well as sea food. Lobster special on the menu for more than 50 years. Starched white linens, the best veal ever, great wine selections and save room for desert!
You just can’t beat Tony’s for a special occasion meal in St. Louis. From the moment you enter the building, the service is impeccable...matched only by the food. I brought my husband here for the first time, and now he’s hooked. Can’t wait to go back!
ALWAYS EXCELLENT. ASK FOR ADAM AS A WAITER. HE IS THE BEST!
Repeating this tradition for over 25 years. It was good to see Tony. The food was flavorful yet lacked the delivery from the past. The technique of transfer from the simmering station to the plated stage was rough. When laid upon the plate it was "dumped" versus placed and pleasantly organized. While visual has nothing to do with taste it is directly related to the price and experience. We could hear the wait staff openly complaining which detracted from the romance we were there for; we could've stayed home and listened to the grandkids fuss. We received the wrong bottled water, messy butter chunks which actually had debris of some sort, falling off the plate onto the beautifully starched white table linen. I requested smaller portions which were guaranteed however the serving size seemed to be large. We would like to see an option for smaller plates offered. At the end of the day we weren't certain that we would make a special trip to have dinner at Tony's but if we are in town, we will return..no questions asked.
The food is exceptional! And the staff, all you have to do is look their direction and they are right there at your table. We went there for our anniversary in September and again in November to celebrate a birthday and were treated like vips. Tony's is our new favorite restaurant!!
As always Tony's has wonderful ambience, service and food. It has the perfect lighting where you feel you are only dining with the few people at your table The noise level is excellent You can hear each other even with poor hearing. Tony's restaurant is still run by Vince Bommarito who makes the rounds of his customers. The chef comes to your table when your are about to leave to ask if everything was to your satisfaction and if there are any suggestions. Pricey but worth the drive
The service was wonderful! It's clear they pride themselves on making your visit an experience. Highly recommend for a special occasion!
My only concern was that after we attended Tony's that I got an email that stated that they were not honoring my points for booking through Open Table. Considering that our bill was over $1000 that this was a really cheap shot from the management of Tony's. And why inform me after the meal???
Anytime I need to go to St Louis that is only place I would dine
Heard this was a great restaurant with incredible food. It was not. My entree was very disappointing- in presentation and in taste. Over priced for what was provided. Ambiance and service were good though.
Welcoming. Attention to detail. Each dish was as beautiful as it was delicious. Enjoyed every moment of our anniversary celebration. Thank you.
