Tony's - St. Louis
Saturday: 5:00pm - 10:30pm (Business Casual)
Top notch service, amazing atmosphere and food! Hope to visit again.
The food and desserts were perfect and the service is unmatched. The owner came to the table and encouraged us to enjoy and take our time with the meal.
Great food, great service. A classic Italian fine dining experience.
Wonderful food and service.
Attended a conference in St.Louis selected Tony's from open table. From service to presentation this restaurant has exceeded every restaurant I have ever been to. The food was amazing and one of the most enjoyable bonuses of the night was having Vincent B. Visit our table. Dining at this restaurant is a must.
Very difficult to write anything less than a 5 star review for this iconic institution and I have delayed writing this for several days for that reason.......but based on our recent experience, Tony's may have passed it's prime. On the positive side, the food was stellar. On every front. perfectly cooked and seasoned.
What suffered was the service. Staff seemed to be just going through the motions and the expected, perfectly orchestrated service just wasn't there. Staff was clearly stressed even though the room was just over 1/2 full; the table was not kept "current" (i.e. silver was not replaced, menus left on table, etc.); drink order was not filled; no ground pepper offered for salad; we ordered dessert and were then brought a piece of "anniversary cake" that we didn't order (and was completely unremarkable in the flavor department) . Perhaps most annoying was one particular server's need to tell us (at length) about his distaste for seafood as he served our seafood appetizers!
In my mind, the value (and fun) of Tony's was always to get the best of both worlds; perfectly cooked and presented food coupled with equally stellar service. If either component is missing, Tony's is just another restaurant.....and based on our recent experience, I'm worried that's what has happened.
We went there for our anniversary and the service was just outstanding. Which is really nice because whenever we spring for fine dining I kind of feel like a redneck who doesn’t belong, but at Tony’s I was made to feel very welcome. I would recommend this restaurant for the service alone. But their food was excellent as well. Best scallops I have ever had in my life, same with their soup (tomato bisque).
Fantastic, a wonderful evening the staff makes you feel like family. It was a celebration of our 20th wedding Anniversary. And we had celebrated our first Anniversary there. It was wonderful
We celebrated our 51st wedding anniversary at Tony's on Saturday, October 6. It was our first time at the restaurant. The staff was extremely courteous and efficient. The menu had Happy Anniversary printed on it and we were treated to a little cake with candle and Happy Anniversary card. Vince came to our table to wish us Happy Anniversary and we took a photo. It was a lovely anniversary evening.
My husband had lobster and shrimp pasta. The lobster was rather tough and the shrimp very small. The sauce was pretty rich. I had the vegetable pasta. The vegetables were chopped so small that they were not very tasty and the pasta was a bit gummy but flavorful.
When we return, we will probably have steak or fish. All in all, however, we enjoyed our evening and will return for another special occasion, hopefully with our family.
We have been going to Tony's for years, and now live in Chicago. We try to stop in when we are back in St. Louis. The food and service is top notch, and while not cheap, it is still relatively reasonable compared to its quality. A meal like this would cost significantly more in Chicago or NYC.
We enjoyed the evening & the food & service was great. Only one small comment. We were seated fairly close to a group that was a bit noisy/vocal. But other then that we enjoyed the evening. Understand it is hard to control a group of people.
This was our first experience at Tony's and it definitely lived up to the years of hype. We typically don't go downtown for dinners but decided to try Tony's. The service was impeccable and the food was delicious. If you have a special event or just treating yourself, I'd highly recommend Tony's.
A wonderful dining experience in every way. It is always a pleasure to go there.
Everything we expected. A must when visiting st.louis. Thank out to Vince, the ower for stopping by to welcome us and other guests. Our waiter and all staff were top notch. 5 🌟 for this restaurant.
Service was excellent. A nice touch was when Vincent Bommarito came by the table to say hello. Love the final preparation of the meal at the table side. Food was great. Chef even prepared a special sauce for my veal dish.
Exceptional service and food! I’m not sure you will receive a more attentive waitstaff anywhere else, the owner even comes by to check on you and say hello. The food was amazing, from appetizers to dessert. The wine list has a large variety of Italian wines, we opted for a Napa Cabernet and it did not disappoint.
Amazing atmosphere and wonderful menu options, specials, and food was superb. Carlos an Don were very attentive and made dinner most enjoyable. Very professional while humorous. Excellent
Food was amazing, ambiance was outstanding. This place far exceeded my expectations.
Best restaurant in St. Louis!
Best restaurant in St. Louis. The staff is outstanding, probably the best we have ever seen. The food is off the scale without many equals, and the Bommaritos make you feel like family. It is by far our favorite dining experience!
Best spot in all of St Louis! The service, food and level of care for their customers is unmatched.
A very good American-Italian restaurant. Sadly the dining room has no windows so is a bit sombre, otherwise the decor is good and the seating and tables are comfortable.
Excellent, professional, old-fashioned service. The service made the meal. The food was still very good though.
Great experience. Arrived early for a 7pm reservation. Sat us immediately. Excellent service. Had2 excellent martinis. No rush. Brought a nice assortment of bread and butter. Shared 4 courses. I think this was a good way to get maximum variety. Extremely accommodating to split each dish. Shrimp appetizer sauce was excellent, I thought shrimp was a bit tough. The Captain made a point to tell us he gave us a 4th shrimp vs the normal 3 portion. Thought this was a nice touch until we got the bill and somebody charged us 5 bucks for the extra shrimp. Kind of tacky to make a point of “giving” us something extra then charging us for it. And not asking. We didn’t say anything . The duck confit and mushroom pasta was memorable. Highly recommend this. The salad w hearts of palm and artichoke was ok. Very bright but too acidic, would try something else next time. The swordfish filet was very good. Sauce was excellent. My wife thought a bit dry. Maybe so. Too full for dessert. Complimentary 4 very good cookies. $160 for dinner. 3 martinis and 2 glasses of wine. We would come back. One other point. Almost everything is prepared or finished table side. Our servers prepared ours behind us so we didn’t really get the effect. Would have enjoyed seeing it. .
What an amazing dining experience! We were in Town for a quick overnight trip. Found this restaurant from various reviews. Fell in love with the place the moment we walked in. The servers were professional, courteous, knowledgeable about all aspects of the menu and the wine list. We had a Brunello that was delicious. Their wine list was not extensive (loved that) but had a great selection and well-priced. The food was amazing. We had the prosciutto w melon, bursts w heirloom tomatoes, fettuccine with duck confit and veal sausage-stuffed quail with tenderloin. Can’t say enough about this place.
I always frequent James Beard award winners and nominees. Was shocked Tony's is even highlighted. Service and food were subpar.
I've been taking my mother to Tony's for her birthday for quite a few years now. However, it's just not the same as it used to be. They stopped serving the olive spread a few years back, and we had always looked forward to that. For the last two to three years, there has been no attempt to refill ice tea glasses. This time around, my mother ordered an ice tea when our entrees arrived, and she never got it. Unfortunately, neither our waiter nor anyone else stopped by to see how our meals were or if we needed anything else. We will continue to go to Tony's every year because it is still a special experience. However, I do miss how it used to be in the "old days."
This was our second visit, but the food was outstanding and the service was more than perfect.
Yet their charge is very affordable considering everything they offer.
MUST place to visit in St. Louis if you are a true restaurant lover.
Service was perfect. Food was excellent including table-side preparation.
Excellent variety of food and wine in a classic restaurant setting.
Had a wonderful time at Tony's. Took my husband for his birthday. Everyone was very nice, remembered his birthday. Great ambiance, service, and food!!
My husband and I had a romantic night out at Tony's. The entire evening was relaxing, with fabulous food and great service. Our meal consisted of a shared appetizer of osetra caviar, Tony's salad, entrees prepared tableside - Dover Sole and Trio of Veals, with Zabaglione over Raspberries and Bananas Flambe for dessert. Courses were nicely paced, neither too slow or too quick. We highly recommend Tony's for a wonderful evening out!
Went for dinner to celebrate start of school with my son. Seated promptly per reservation time. Placed and received drink order after seating. That is when our table fell off the service radar. Had to wave down server to place our order after 25 minutes. Bread was brought to table 40 minutes after sitting down. Food was delicious but appetizers and entrees were luke warm even though each was “finished” tableside. A table of 6 diners seemed to occupy most of the attention from the wait staff. Ladies room flush mechsnism was broken and cold water faucet in one sink did not work.
If I only went to Tony’s to eat and saw and did nothing else in St. Louis that would be wonderful enough. They treated us like family and brought the shawls to keep them warm. The two 14 year old cousins thought they were eating in heaven! Great host experience as well.
Tony’s is always an exceptional dining experience. Every staff member is there to make sure you are well tended to. My husband and I were celebrating our silver anniversary with our kids and his mother. We had a long, relaxing and very enjoyable evening, first meeting in Tony’s Bar for a cocktail; when our table was ready we were notified and told “no rush” . I have not been here often, but when I have it has been perfect each time. If you want your special evening to be truly special, this is the place to go!
Service we good in addition to the food. Wait staff is friendly and attentive. I am not sure what it is in Saint Louis but non of the restaurants serve warm bread. We did ask for warm bread but it was never delivered. :(
Loved this place!!! Family owned, professional and friendly staff.
Food was fabulous!!
Both the food and service were absolutely outstanding! Can’t wait to go back!
service was very slow and food was just okay. not worth the hype that we had been told about the restaurant.
I came into town to have dinner with a friend who ended up not being able to meet. I had heard about Tony’s for years while I lived here and had never been able to go. So I treated myself to dinner. The staff was so gracious and served me as well as if I had been been with a group. The owner Vince Bommarito visited with me twice - as he did with all the tables. Dinner was wonderful. The wine pairing was perfect. If they had been open on Sunday, I would have bee back!
First visit to Tony’s and will definitely visit again. From the host to the waiters, impeccable customer service. My party was very impressed. The food was delicious and fresh.
