There was confusion with our reservation (said we didn’t have one but I booked through Open Table and they had no record of it) which was not a big deal and could have been fixed in a snap, however the host made it a big deal. He insisted we were not holding a reservation with this location but instead their ‘bar.” We were traveling with older children and did not book the bar. Too, their web site states “casual dress code.” Our family was dressed appropriately but the host looked at us with disdain b/c we were not in black tie attire. The restaurant was not busy, plenty of desirable tables, yet the host sat us in the worst spot- in the doorway. If I were with a client I would have asked to be moved but my family wasn’t bothered by the location so it was a moot point.

Putting aside the terrible arrival experience the waiter(s) were charming and attentive. The food was fabulous! The fish was fresh and risotto was the best I’ve had in years. The ambulance is sterile, no color- but great because it’s quiet and you can actually have a conversation with your group and hear each other.

We recommend this iconic restaurant for special occasions (we had a birthday) or power lunch/dinner, but request the host check his attitude with the valet.

Last Saturday, my boyfriend and I celebrated our 2 year anniversary together. After doing some research for the nicest restaurants in St. Louis, Tony's was at the top of many lists that I saw. After looking at a few restaurant's menus, Tony's menu looked the most unique and appetizing. We had such a wonderful dinner. It was romantic, intimate, and the service was outstanding. Above all, the food was incredible. We absolutely will be returning for future celebrations and bringing more family along to experience what Tony's has to offer.

We booked this restaurant to host our office holiday dinner and it was very disaapointing. The waiter never introduced himself, his service was slow and he was very unattentive. The appertizers were good, not great, the salads were nothing special and then we waited for over 45 minutes after our salads for the entrees. I ordered black grouper that was overdone and dry. One of my staff ordered the dover sole at my recommendation and it was very dry and cold. My husband and another staff member order the quail and filet combo. The quail was overcooked and dry and the filet was overdone. In addition, we ordered the linquine with shrimp and lobster to be shared at the table and the waiter came over and told me that they had made the order with penne pasta and he asked me if that would be okay. I told him no, that we wanted the linquine and he said it would take a little longer. We said that would be fine and when they brought it after the rest of the meal, it was the appertizer order, not the entree order that we requested. When I told our waiter, he apologized, but never offered to correct it. We had to ask the busboy to find our waiter to order wine and it took him 10 minutes to find our waiter. This is not the type of service or food quality we expected from a well known, 5 star restaurant. Our bill was well over $800, which is ridiculous for below average food and service. We would never go back and were appalled at the cost/value considering that St. Louis is a food mecca of fine dining. Guess we chose the wrong place to go.

poor service for a restaurant that prides itself on good service and fresh food. Waitstaff were overwhelmed and clearly not happy to be doing their job. Failure to refill wine and water glasses (okay at a lesser restaurant). Swordfish tasteless which suggests it could be frozen tho we were assured it was fresh. Bread is mediocre. Wine glasses are not appropriate for the varietal served. Tony's is past its prime. There are better restaurants at same price point who care about their patrons and the quality of their food.

My food was fair, but others at the table commended their food. The service was very slow--4 hours for a 3-course meal with an added dessert. Altogether, the experience was not worth what I paid for it. I will resist going again and will look for other restaurants for special occasions.

As always, everything was exceptional! We had a wonderful time celebrating New Year’s with friends. Food, wine, service and ambience was great. We missed seeing Vince nut look forward to our next visit and hope he’s back!

Went for New Years Eve. Seated promptly as our reservation. All staff courteous and on spot with service. Food was terrific. We were allowed to relax and did not feel rushed at all.This is the 2nd time we have been to Tony's. I will go back . A bit noisy, but it was New Years.
