Typical Tony’s outstanding food and service for a very special occasion. Wish they hadn’t relaxed the dress code so much though. Grown men with casual short sleeve shirts and ball caps on, clearly on an expense account/business trip. Not appropriate for a place like that at that price point.

We love Tony's and having been attending this excellent restaurant for close to 30 years. The staff is beyond awesome, the food and presentation is phenomenal, the service and the location is wonderful! We love it!

Disappointing on every level!!! Made a reservation months ago, but we were kept waiting by a rude gentleman while other parties were seated.

The restaurant was so noisy, we couldn’t hear each other talk. No candles on the table and no ambiance at all!! The staff was distracted and disinterested...chatting among themselves while serving our food.

We were celebrating a college graduation and I was embarrassed by the entire experience. I wanted a special evening...but it was so far from special!!

The best part of the evening was the valet staff. They greeted us with a smile and promptly retrieved our car.

There are many wonderful restaurants in St. Louis. Sadly, this is not one of them. Save your money and avoid disappointment by dining somewhere else!!

Risotto is still the best I have had anywhere in the world. Zabaglione prepared tableside is spectacular. The remainder of the food, while excellent, is not very imaginative. Waitstaff were awesome. Maitre d' was surly, unwelcoming and confused.

Can only echo what every one else has said it's incredibly outstanding. Wonderful to have such a great place to visit. Didn't see Guest with cell phones on the table they were appreciating the experience

Tony's was everything and more that we had heard it was. This was a celebration of our 50th wedding anniversary and Tony's made the evening perfect. A special thank you to our attendant, Carlos.

No wonder, why this high end restaurant has such a good reputation and is loved by many famous people, including US presidents. The service is excellent, food beyond your expectation (and believe me, I am a picky one), quiet and cozy atmosphere ensures you enjoy your time and food there to the fullest.

My mom and I went to Tony's to celebrate my birthday, and we had such a wonderful experience. Our servers Adam and TJ were fantastic, but the food alone is worth the trip. I will definitely be back the next time I am in St. Louis.

First of all we had a 7:45pm reservation for 5 family members. They were not ready for us and were rude about it at the front desk.
We were not the only ones who had to wait 20-30 minutes for our table.
Our servers were very nice and the food was good but not outstanding like I expected.

First visit since the Bommarito family and St. Louis lost Vince. Was apprehensive about how it would be without Vince at the helm. Turns out not a beat was missed. James seems to be stepping up to the plate to fill in his father's footsteps. But I also noticed a few months ago that the newer wait staff is excellent. In addition to Bruce and Carlos, I have found Adam and TJ to be superb waiters, backed up by assistant waiters equally as good.

The food was mostly great. Unfortunately, the shrimp and lobster plate arrived cool and after being reheated, the lobster was rubbery and looked shrunken. The shrimp survived the reheating and were very good. Dover sole, filet and pepper steak were all excellent. Side dishes were equally as good. The Tony's salad has been better in the past, but it was not bad. And desserts were perfectly prepared.

The restaurant was full, which has not always been the case even on weekends. We were glad to see that.

We have reservations to return in a few months and look forward to it.

We were a party of 4. The restaurant was very busy, but we were treated as if we were the only ones there. The food was finalized table side and was exceptional. I had the strip steak in a peppercorn sauce, my wife had the Dover Sole, our friends had the veal trio and the lobster pasta. It was all exceptional. I highly recommend the experience.

I have been going to Tony’s about once a year for the past 35 years. Saturday night was disappointing in terms of the Tony’s experience. There used to be a requirement that men wore jackets. I saw more jeans,casual cloths and even sweats. Fine dining? The table we were seated at was wobbly. Fine dining should not include an unsteady table. When we received the menus it was a wrinkled piece of paper There was no cover with menu inside. If the menu changes, fine but put it in some type of presentation format. A piece of copied paper is appropriate at a take out restaurant. We ordered Tony’s salad and filet of swordfish. When salad was served the waiter did not come around to ask if we wanted ground pepper added. Miss. Food was very good - not as hot as I think it should have been.
When we made and confirmed the reservation, mentioned we were celebrating a birthday. Waiter asked if we wanted dessert, passed thinking we would get a piece of cake. Never came. Finally the women’s test room only seemed to have scalding hot water to rinse your hands.
Lots of great memories. Someone needs to be at the restaurant to insure patrons are getting the full experience.

I'm not sure there is a better restaurant in St. Louis. The food is always the best around and the service is so precise and second to none. Request Carlos as he is absolutely amazing and makes this special experience even better. I highly recommend the linquine with shrimp and lobster or the shrimp and lobster scampi in a mustard sauce that is unbelieveable. From great atmospher, to impecable service, this restaurant has been and continues to be the best!

Sorry if this will seem such a strange review for a restaurant we really liked. We were in town for a national convention and chose Tony's based upon a recommendation for a suitable destination for dinner with clients and colleagues. Sadly, the owner, Vincent Bommarito, passed away the day before our reservation. We only found out just a few hours before our planned dinner. We were concerned it might be closed or ineffectual.

Upon our arrival it became obvious that staff were clearly shaken by the loss. Nonetheless, they went about their duties with aplomb. They were courteous, efficient, and informative --- all the things their leader would have admired. We discreetly asked about the owner's legacy and life, and were obliged to learn a few of the great things he accomplished --- in a very community-focused manner (well ahead of his time). We had a moment of silence in his honor prior to our meal, and were later blessed when the owner's son was willing to reminisce about his father's career and legacy.

Our group were an eclectic bunch calling from New York City to Denver to Nashville, Philadelphia, Birmingham, Dallas, and SoCal. Our food tastes ranged from a strict vegan to full-on steak aficionados. And yet, not one of us left the restaurant feeling that the dinner was anything less than superb. Tony's is in good hands and that is a good thing for all of us.

This is definitely a "special occasion" place for dinner. The service is simply amazing, and one of the best service experiences I think I've had. The food was very good, but honestly outshined by the waitstaff. It is a dressier place to eat, and I felt very out of place in jeans and Nikes. While definitely not required, the vast majority of the gentlemen guests were wearing a sport coat. No one said a thing, nor were there any stares, but I knew that I should have tried a little harder before going to dine there. Depending on the dish, I would give the food an A- or A and the service an A+.

Great Restaurant BUT,

don't book through Open Table, it just doesn't work as Tony's gets no reservation from them.
Use Yelp istead.

We had a great business dinner and highly recommend eating at Tony's. The staff is friendly and food is delicious. Tony's is in a great location just steps from the arch and the ballpark. If our travels take us to St. Louis again we will certainly return.
